I believe that I will end up using this vest more than any other shell that I own, and that covers 4 hard shells, 3 soft shells and 4 high end fleece vests. It has a nice fit, athletic but not as form fitting as TNF Flight series, so a large fits comfortably over a chamois shirt and I have a 44" chest, athletic build tending towards stocky. Windproof, highly water repellent, great for temps into the 30's if you are moving, layers easily under other layers for extra dialing in just the right amount of insulation. Definitely a keeper!

North Face doesn't disappoint!! This vest is multifunctional ,high quality, and good looking! Fits true to size- I like my stuff to be more fitting and this vest does the the trick! I use this for late fall golf, in the winter under my snowboard jacket as a layer, and an all year round just out and about.

You will never go wrong with this vest.

This is my second TNF Apex Bionic Vets in 6 years. I am extremely happy that my second one is as good as my first one. One change is that the length of the collar is a little higher. It's a change that is growing on me. I use it around town and for layering in very cold conditions on the mountain. I am on the shorter side (5' 8") but I have a 41" chest because I work out a lot. The medium fits very well and still has room for layers underneath.

I love this vest plain and simple. It fits great, looks great and is stylish. While I have only had it for a short time I wish I had purchased this when I first saw it months ago. I recommend this product.

Perfect for cycling

Now that the Autumn has set in, I find this the perfect top to wear when I'm cycling in to work - breathable, but protects my core from the wind and general cold. But would be equally well used as an inner layer under a shell out hiking, or even to the office Great fit- I normally take a large, and that is the size which fits me perfectly with this. I looked at a lot of vests, and do not regret choosing this one.

Love the vest and will be wearing it a lot. It is very comfortable and light. It's made of a nice material that feels very durable and doesn't attract every single piece of lint. You will get compliments at how nice looking it is too. Worth the money rather than buying another name brand that doesn't hold up or isn't the same quality. You will be pleased with the vest.

My daughter and I "shared" the first Apex Bionic Vest that I bought from Altrec last Christmas. I originally purchased this for my older son - but, it was a little too tight on him - so we "inherited" it - We have liked it so much (and were tired of sharing) that I purchased another one this Christmas (in another color). We like it big (I wear it running or with leggings when I am out running errands) - typically I am a Women's 6 or so (I'm 5'8" 135 lbs - and my daughter is slightly smaller) - a men's medium may seem big - but, for the fit we are looking for it's great. I love the material and it has worn so well - despite the constant wear and tear. It repels the wind very well and it is extremely versatile - it looks great for a workout and my high school daughter wears it to school. I highly recommend it and will probably get a third one sometime soon!!

I bought this product as a Christmas gift for me and I loved it! I can wear it with hooded sweater shirts, sweaters, and pretty much anything else. My item arrives very quickly and I was very satisfied overall with having purchased from Altrec. Would recommend both the vest and the Altrec to others.

From fall to spring I have this vest on almost constantly. Anything 15F and over, I wear a sweatshirt under it and it's perfect. When it's less than 0F, I put a jacket over it. I wear it inside in cool buildings, as a spring jacket, ski jacket, and just about anything else. In short, I wear it everywhere and very rarely do I need anything else.

This is a perfect vest for cooler weather or layering under a jacket on cold, snowy days. Great fit (6' 195lbs=large), that allows for maximum mobility, yet stays close to your body to keep your core warm and toasty. The outer shell will keep the wind from blowing through like other fleece vests and it's water resistant as well.

What else can I say about another great North Face product. Well, I had to have this vest! I bought it last week - and have worn it almost every day since. It is just the right weight. It is cut very generously for wear over a shirt or sweater. Pockets are in the right locations, and the collar is cut at the right spot so that it is neither too short, or too tall. I am wicked psyched that this exceeded my expectations. I would definitely recommend this vest to anyone that is looking for a soft shell vest that is good for most weather scenarios. Thanks!

I bought this Apex vest because I already have and love the full Apex Bioic jacket but when I would take the subway during early late spring or early fall I found it to be to warm. The vest works perfectly to fix that problem. The vest still gives me the warmth I need for the core without making me sweat in the subway. I find it perfect for any day that is cold enough you need to wear something without making you overheat. I found I needed to get a smaller size then normal because I didn't want it to be too loose on me. Great buy, comfortable, warm and it looks real good too.

I would like to say that I love Altrec, and always try to order from them first. To the vest: I typically love TNF products, especially the Apex series, but the Apex Bionic vest missed the mark. I was expecting the material to offer more of a stretch, but it was very rigid and stiff. I should preface that I ordered the Apex Bionic vest in "Black," which I believe is from last season, and I heard after-the-fact that the material used for this season's Apex Bionic vest, such as "TNF Black," were less rigid. So, reviewing the vest in "Black," I cannot imagine the Apex Bionic vest from last season being conducive to anything active. Further, it does not look particularly crisp, so it is not a great casual piece either.

Nice vest, I bought it to replace a fleece on both sides vest that is starting to show it's age. I think this vest will hold up much better and hold it's shape as well, I think this is a best combination of adding warmth but not too warm and is thin enough to use it in layers if you need to. I did not know if this vest would be worth the money but I think it is, I just bought it so not sure about the durability of it.

This was my first purchase of a North Face [Men's Apex Bionic Vest] clothing item, I was impressed by the quality of workmanship, no loose or hanging threads, a smart and visually appealing design. Lite weight but warm enough to wear when the temps are in the 30s. I choose an XL as my weight is 190 and I am 5'10" tall.

Excellent vest which can be worn in cold/wet or warm weather. Wear it with a t-shirt in a mild day or as a layer under a jacket in chilly days are all your option.

I bought this vest last spring and it has been great. The vest is very light weight and yet still keeps me warm and yet keeps the wind out. Since I bought last years modle it does not have the zipper on the front like the new style. A few of my coworkers have also bought them and all are very happy with TNF quality. This also has a draw string waist so the wind does not come up under the vest LOVE it !!

I was very happy to purchase the North Face Apex Bionic Vest. The fit was great and it stays in place without moving around. It is very sharp looking. It is very warm and an excellent choice when you are engaging in physical activity such as bicycle riding. It would not be of much use in really cold weather, but it is not designed for this. It was a little pricey, but I feel you get what you pay for and don't regret buying it at all. I will probably buy another one in a different color one of these days.

I bought this because I recently moved to Bogota, Colombia and it is cold here everyday, but not cold enough like in DC in winter. I've been wearing it for the past couple of weeks and it's been amazing. It's light enough for one to use it daily and it basically makes you feel warm enough so that you can move around a lot. It's really comfortable and it looks great with just about anything. I really recommend this item to anyone looking for a nice, lightweight vest for a cool weather.

Every other mid-layer I used was too hot or too cold. This is perfect! The lack of arms and insulation are key. Works great without a shell when it's warm and sunny too, since it breaks the wind so well.

Overall this piece has treated me well so far. Only had it for a couple of weeks but it's been a great addition for the unpredictable days of spring in the Mid-Atlantic. Wish it had a chest zip pocket. That's my only complaint.

I love it. It is lightweight, very confortable, and the best for north face products. I use it everyday in my work, inside place, my office, and feel so nice. Many times when i run in a cold day, i use it too. I am thinking in buying one more, but with a different colour. I would strongly recommends it.

Nice-looking, solid performance vest

I've been wearing the Apex Bionic Vest for a week now in mid-November Wisconsin weather, which is getting colder and windier. So far, the jacket is exactly what I wanted. Keeps the wind out, and is surprisingly warm given that it's simply a vest. I'm 6'0 and 170, and the medium fits perfectly. It's fairly slim but not tight, and it should fit under most other jackets and softshells for that extra bit of warmth as it gets even colder. Very pleased so far. Can't speak to the durability yet, but it seems like a fairly tough garment so I don't expect to have any problems. I'd recommend it for fall and early spring, and as a layer in winter. And given its warmth, it should be good on its own, over a fleece, during more aerobic winter outings (I plan on using it for snowshoeing). It's warm and blocks the wind, and is pretty sharp-looking to boot.
