The Apex Valkyrie Jacket is the ideal all-around mountain jacket.
best jacket i ve ever had
Buy it! It's all true what the others say. Plus it is really stylish. Usually I don't like the look of functional clothing but this jacket is awesome.
Great quality jacket
Very warm, lightweight , functional and stylish. This quality soft shell is what I expected
The North Face: Men's Apex Valkyrie Jacket
Pros: Very stylish jacket that is also functional for keeping you warm and dry. Great for walking around town and hiking in the mountains. Light-weight and breathable, but is more substantial than your run-of the mill shell.
Cons: Zippers that run from upper arm to side make the jacket almost unwearable with a short-sleeve shirt. The metal zippers are cold to the touch when you put it on and will probably get colder when worn outside. Weird design.

the perfect soft shell
I've had it less than a month but I already love it. I've worn it as an middle layer for cold downhill skiing as well as a top layer for xc-skiing and hiking. Once you get your core temp up this jacket it is very warm right up to -10 C, and breathes very well. Also holds up surprising well in the rain. Wind

Great Jacket
A true soft shell. Breathable enough for high exertion activities unlike laminates such as windstopper. Highly wind resistant and the hood means you won't go reaching for the hard shell as soon as it starts to snow. Recommended.

Great Jacket, but wasn't exactly what I wanted.
So far I have been really impressed with this Jacket. Definitely great if you want a jacket that will keep you really dry and fairly warm (depends on how active you are while wearing it.) However the side vents can help with that. My only real complaints are that it's not as warm as I would really like. My biggest problem with the jacket is that there is no chest pocket. This is a feature I have really come to enjoy with my other jackets and I hoped it would have been included on this model but sadly it wasn't. All in all a great jacket though and I would definitely recommend it to anybody, especially if you get rained on a lot.
High quality, great vents, super light wight
Very nice fit, will easily/comfortably fit under another layer. Moves well and great for general wear or outdoor activities.
it's good, but could fit better
jacket is great in that it provides head protection from rain. basically, it's the apex bionic with a hood. great wind, rain protection. with the under-arm zippers, the jacket provides a good cool down, but the area is "tight". there is little room for another layer. i thought it would fit just like the bionic, allowing for extra layers, but it's tighter than the bionic in the shoulder and under arm area. could've made the zipper area with more room. i still love the jacket for what it does, but i just can't enjoy it in more situations than i currently do.
Awesome Jacket
Fits great (155lbs - 5'7). This jacket worked great with a Patagonia capoline #1 in 30 degree weather on the AT. For the 20 degree days I usually wear a capoline #2 or #4 it provides enough warmth and wind resistance. I would've given 5 stars but the pocket openings align with my backpack straps; making it a little tuff to get to them. Don't let that stop you from getting this jacket...it's great and altrec offers it at a great price!
Very good for just about anything
Nice and warm. Very lightweight also blocks wind. Hold up in the rain and snow very well. The colors are very stylish. Does very well while skiing, keeping you dry and comfy. Very breathable so you don't feel constricted. Good for just chillin or outside skiing and hiking
High quality mid layer
Pros:
+ lightweight
+ stretchable fabric
+ pit zips
+ hood
+ sleek fit (i can wear this as a mid-layer under my TNF Khumbu jacket!!!)
Cons:
+ can fit a base layer comfortably, but not a second layer underneath this softshell
+ attached hood does not stow-away
+ solid mid-layer for moderate temps; not a shell to just stand around in during colder temps
Overall:
+ stylish and functional
+ fits like an old comfy sweatshirt
+ wicks moisture and keeps you dry in a light to moderate rain
Bottom line:
Worth the money as an awesome aerobic activity winter jacket; but you'll only stay warm as long as you're moving at a moderate pace.

Good Qaulity
Very nice material, but size are for slim people. If you wear a Medium, the lenght would be good, but tight around the chest. I would suggest one size bigger. Since the cuffs has an adjustable velcro, it would be eaiser than a tight chest.
