The North Face Men's Bryce Hiking Shoe
Give big bulky backpacking boots the boot on overnight hiking trips--The North Face Bryce hiking shoe offers the same low-slung comforts of light day hiking and running shoes, but support features and extra padding provide more than enough cushion for managing moderate pack loads up to 30 lbs. Depending on what you bring, The North Face Bryce shoe is more than adequate for overnight and weekend backpacking trips in moderate terrain. This low-cut hiker features rugged Nubuck leather and abrasion-resistant mesh insets to balance breathability with durability. Depending on your shoe size you'll find that most Bryce shoes weigh a little over a pound each, shaving almost a pound per foot off most standard hiking boot offerings. The North Face Bryce shoe delivers big on support with comfortable Outlast® footbeds and X-2™ padding along the heels. The TPU shank plate features flex notches throughout the forefoot for articulation on uneven terrain. If you prefer to tent in your tennies but crave load control and support, the lightweight profile of The North Face Bryce shoe is tailor-made for your backcountry lifestyle.

These sneakers require no break-in and felt very comfortable except for the arch. For those that are flat footed (like me), the inside arch may be slightly irritable but tolerable. Overall, a very great sneaker for hiking and all-around wear. Very easy on the feet. Also very fashionable as compared to other sneakers that just seem unappropriate to wear around public.
Pros:
-Great traction.
-Shoe laces do not untie because of sturdy shoe laces, as compared to cheaper cloth shoe laces found on typical Nike/Adidas sneakers.
-Great all-around sneakers for hiking and casual wear.
-Great design and fashionable to wear in public.
Cons:
-Slight irritable but tolerable inside arch for those that are flat-footed.

The Bryce Lightweight Hiking Boots are really great. They are very lightweight, comfortable and dry, yet still strong and durable. After these boots, I'll never buy wildnerness footwear that isn't The North Face.

Found this pair of lightweight hiking shoes to be a very good product. The sole, insole, and upper are well made and gave great support when walking in them. The only minus is the shape of the toe box--it's slightly pointed pushing the toes together. It would be much better if rounded so the toes were not pushed together; it would also improve the comfort.
Jared - 2006-02-10Great Shoe, strange fit
I like the style and low cut of these shoes very much. Some concerns, I wear a 10.5 in most shoes and this one seems a little too long for my feet, a 10 would probably have done better. Next, the arches are slightly lower than I like, this can be easily fixed by inserts as can the size issue. Otherwise this should make a good shoe for one to two-nighters for on-trail use. Traction seems great, and vibram sole has a nice torsion to it.

My boyfriend is a very picky individual when it comes to clothing and shoes and if he likes these shoes, that tells me they are very good quality, very durable and comfortable.
In short, I would recommend them to anyone looking for a good quality hiking boot.

I've been wearing the shoe for a few weeks now, and I can feel it contouring into my feet. The only drawback is the tongue. It is bit to long for my taste, but doesn't affect the feel of the shoe at all.

The heel is a bit loose but that depend on the person and activity. The tongue is also quite long with not much padding but overall I have found this to be a good shoe.

I was excited about trying these hiking shoes, but after getting them and wearing heavy hiking socks with the shoes, the shoes were uncomfortable. The next time I wore the shoes, I used thin socks, but again the shoes were not comfortable to wear. It was not an issue of breaking in the shoes, since I have now worn them at least six times and there is no change in comfort. Blisters are not formed, and it is not that the feet hurt when walking, but there is not a real feel of comfort. I have an old pair of Reebok Hiking Shoes that the heels are wearing through, but are most comfortable.
