Alternative to Denali
December 22, 2011

I'm basing this review on the regular Denali jacket that I have worn for the past 3 years regularly in the wintertime. I was looking for a warm jacket that can be worn on dry winter weather in the 20s to 30s range. The Denali fits this role perfectly except that the wind cuts right through it. Enter the Denali WindPro, it has slightly less warmth than the regular Denali, but is extremely windproof. The fabric is totally different than the Polartec 300 fleece in the regular Denali, it is actually softer and have a different pill than the regular Denali. Cut is very similar, though I think the Windpro is cut just ever so slightly smaller. There are no pit zips and it has one less Napolean pocket on the front. The Windpro is slightly lighter than the regular Denali. Overall I'm very happy with the purchase, the quality and I would assume the longevity of the product based on all the NF jackets that I've owned over the years.

Excellent fleece jacket
December 26, 2011

I bought this jacket because I wanted a light weight windproof jacket. In addition, North Face makes exceptional outdoor clothing. I wasn't disappointed. The jacket is stylish, virtually windproof and warm. My only concern is that the jacket fits a bit snug around the lower abdomen. Overall, I'd recommend this jacket quite highly. Thank Altrec for carrying the finest outdoor products!

Men's Denali Wind Pro Jacket
December 11, 2012

This is the second jacket I bought. This first was for my other college son. Both attend Midwestern schools and do alot of walking in cold and windy campuses. It keeps them warm and yet cool in different seasons. The construction of the jacket is made well and the zippered compartments come in handy. My sons are tall and they do not complain about the jackets being too short in the torso. It is a little pricey, but for the number of washings and years that my first son has had his coat I have decided it was worth buying a second one for my other son.

Skip the regular Denali
October 24, 2012

I was perusing around for a Denali, when I came across the Wind Pro. It gets windy in SF and I wanted something I could wear around that wasn't too bulky. So far it does the job. It's not wind proof, but does a good job blocking a lot of it out. I initially thought I would need a large, but after reading the reviews I went with a medium. It fits perfect. I'm 5'9" 205 lbs in between stocky and athletic for reference.

A Great Buy
November 17, 2010

I would recommend the Denali Wind Pro to anyone who is looking for a North Face jacket. It is very comfortable, blocks out almost all wind and water, and quite durable. Just recently I was involved in a motorcycle accident with my Denali Wind Pro jacket on. The jacket was barely touched with the exception of one small scratch. Overall, I am very pleased with my purchase and would recommend it to anyone.

April 12, 2012

Granted, I wore it with an underlying Hoodie, but at subzero temperatures and stepping foot just across the Arctic Circle at 66" 33' in Alaska, this stood the test and provided the warmth and comfort I needed. This is my first North Face product, but I would recommend this product to anyone! Do yourself a favor and buy it now!

Excellent Stand-Alone Jacket
December 01, 2010

Folks who are accustomed to the thick fleece on the traditional Denali jacket may find the tighter weave on the Wind Pro to be a little less comfy, but it does a vastly better job of blocking the wind. It's a much warmer jacket without a shell. I'm 6'1'', 185 pounds, and the fit is great. I sometimes have issues with arm length, but not with this jacket. Only a few small quibbles: 1. The Wind Pro lacks the armpit zippers found on the traditional Denali, which arguably are even more needed since it's a warmer jacket. 2. Wish North Face had kept the nylon elbow-forearm patches on the sleeves. 3. The traditional Denali has one additional pocket on the front, but this isn't a big deal for me.

Purchased this for my son. Found that this ran a bit large so did a quick and easy return for a medium. This is a great jacket very windproof and warm. We live in the cold of winter of Wisconsin and this is all my son wears in the winter. Great quality and much better buy than the standard Denali.

It's REALLY Windproof!
February 13, 2012

Got this jacket for my college-aged son for Christmas. I was concerned that the sleeves might be too short since he is 6'2" and slim, but the fit is great. I ordered him a size M. He loves it! He says it is the first fleece jacket he's had that claims to be windproof that actually IS effective at blocking wind. It is hard to get him to take it off. I have washed it once, and it seems to wash well.

Quality of the Denali jacket
February 19, 2013

Was traveling to NY for work in February and did not have a good warm jacket. After buying the Denali jacket I actually found out that I was arriving during a snow storm. Thankfully I had ordered the jacket already. Going to NY during a snow storm could have been horrible, but with my Northface gear it was bearable and even enjoyable at times. A couple times getting a cab was impossible so my coworkers and I zipped up our jackets and a walked through Manhattan during the snow. Having had a NorthFace Denali in the past I know the quality and durability. The Wind Pro jacket is a little different than the original Denali with one less breast pocket and no vents in the arm pits. Not big changes, but those did come in handy in the past.

Jacket was not very warm for its size... fit/quality was terrible... sleeves looked like they were sewn on by a 5 year old. Fabric looked cheap for the price tag. Very dissapointed. Returned item.

Cons: Cost, Bad design, Low performance, Poor quality, poor fit

Just as advertised....
February 19, 2010

This jacket does exactly what it claims. Excellent in cold, windy weather. I have worn this in 32 degree weather with only a t-shirt underneath with no hints of getting cold. It blocks wind effectively and retains heat very well, and it can be worn inside without the feeling of getting overheated. Overall an excellent jacket.

July 12, 2010

I couldn't be happier with the Denali Wind Pro. It's warmer than my older North Face jacket, and it looks great.

Fleece, Improved
December 30, 2009

It's amazing how the windproofing makes a fleece so much warmer. I'm tall and skinny (6'3" 175) so the jacket is cut a little large for my torso, but the sleeves are plenty long. I'm not a huge fan of the elastic on the end of the sleeves; not the most comfortable. Overall a good jacket.

Great Jacket
October 07, 2012

This is a great jacket. I was a little skeptical at it's wind protection claims as it is a fleece jacket, but it does work. I live in Chicago, so it's nice to have a fleece to protect against wind. It's a good combination because sometimes windproof jackets aren't as warm as a fleece. I'm 6'2 185 and the medium fits well. The torso length could have been an inch or two longer but it doesn't really bother me that much. The price is a bit much, considering you can get winter jackets for the same amount or just a bit more but I still think it was worth it.

what wind pro?
December 24, 2012

first, this is way too big! much bigger than the reg denali sizing. the sleeves are huge, lumpy and you can't adjust the cuffs (yes, there's elastic). And on each cuff you have a plastic anchor to latch on to a shell, which is annoying at times bc these tend to hit your wrists. As far as wind protection goes, sorry, but I give this 2 stars (fair) - unless you wear a flannel shirt the wind is going to go right into your arms and right down and around you. I don't mind having big side pockets, but I had cold winds hitting my back and arms; so I felt every bit of cold air coming right into those side pockets! I couldn't use this below 50 degrees, not without a shell. My advise to anyone who's even thinking of this "wind pro" is first, go down a size (maybe two) and second, consider other options. It's not worth the money, unless they add a thicker pocket lining, shorten the sleeves, add some adjustable cuffs, and pit zips; you might really have a real winner with those add-on's.

Pros: nice color, Cons: Bad design, Low performance

Thank you altrec

this jacket fits perfectly,it size a bit large like all the north face jacket so i bought a small (i am 1.76m and 70 kgs). Sleeves are long enough. Just a problem,i live in France and i had to get a US address because The North Face doesn't ship to France. Anyway, thank you Altrec and see you soon!

well worth the money
January 30, 2010

I bought this jacket after receiving the normal Denali for Christmas. The normal Denali's fleece looks very dirty after you wear it: lint sticks to it, as well at hair, etc. Also, the normal Denali is not very warm and wind blows right through it. The Wind Pro is much better in my opinion. It seems to be slightly lighter and less bulky than the normal one. The fleece on the inside of the Wind Pro feels softer and much warmer than the normal Denali. Although the Wind Pro isn't water proof, it is water resistant. Water beads up and falls off. The abrasion resistant panels seem to be softer than the normal Denali's, yet just as durable. The Wind Pro IS windproof. I have worn this jacket in New York and Chicago during the winter and fall seasons, as well as in California during spring, and I have always been warm. I wore the Wind Pro once while snow boarding and it held up just fine. It has been 2 years since I bought this jacket, and it still looks brand new. I do not overheat in this jacket as it is breathable. The yarn knit on the outside of the jacket is very soft, and I think it looks better than the normal Denali. The Wind Pro has the same fit as the Denali - something I find very nice. I find that I am able to wear this jacket to a lot of events. It has a slightly professional look to it - I find the design to be functional and sharp looking. I wear this jacket to work sometimes, to restaurants, so when I am just around town. If you are not wearing this when you are camping/hiking/whatever this looks great with jeans and sneakers. Possibly the only complaint I have about this jacket is that there are no inside pockets. Like all other North Face products, this is top-notch and you do get what you pay for. Altrec like always answered my questions and shipping was speedy.

Lives Up to the Name
February 16, 2012

This is actually my first North Face jacket...ever...so I wanted to see what I was in for. I'm happy to say that it's pretty durable. I did some light pack hiking with it every day, for about 3 hours a day, for the last two weeks, and it withstood that toil without any wear. As far as fit is concerned, I'm 6'0", around 185 lbs, 34/35 sleeve, with an athletic body (i.e. broader up top, small waist), so I went with a Medium. No complaints there. Sleeve length was fine, mobility wasn't an issue; however, I'm not too fond of the torso length, I wish it was a little longer. Regarding warmth/wind protection, it lives up to it's title. I've been quite content with just a t-shirt/long sleeve tee and the Wind Pro Denali in 30 degree weather. I'm sure for anything colder, all I'd need to do is layer. Keep in mind, this jacket isn't windPROOF, so you may occasionally feel a bit of a draft when the weather kicks up. Also, I used it during light rain conditions while hiking and didn't need to bust out my shell, another plus. I doubt it'll hold up under a constant, heavy drenching, but for light showers, it works wonders. Overall, a great purchase. Good for mildly cold weather with only a tee; significant wind/weather resistance, durable and a solid 'nothing-to-complain-about' fit.

Good price and good wind protection
January 22, 2012

I brought a Denali Wind Pro Jacket in a medium for my son who is 5'8 and he weighs 150 pounds. The fit is little bit big on him and the arm length is also a too long on him. The only reason I brought this jacket was because it had a great price on altrec.com. I was going to buy the north face Denali jacket but my son wanted this jacket so I brought it for him. My son loves this jacket because it 's heavier then the regular Denali and it has better wind protection. I have the Denali and when I tried on this jacket i noticed the Denali wind pro is much heavier and thicker then the Denali. This was my first time purchasing something at altrec.com and I am very happy with their service.

Great Jacket!
October 15, 2011

The jacket is great even though it has a heavy price tag. IT truly is wind proof which is amazing! The only problem is the way the jacket arm cuffs are made, they are kind of rough and rub against your wrist as you turn your hand. Other than that, i would highly recommend it!

Pros: Build quality, Performance, Cons: Bad design

Wow, well constructed and warm!

After trying many other liners for my North Face Varius Guide shell, this is the one I'm keeping!! Fits like a glove inside and it's nice and warm for Wisconsin winters. Seems like a warmer fleece than the standard Denali. Definitely happy with the jacket and Altrec service couldn't be better!

I love the Jacket

I really like how light it is and it does a good job keeping the wind out. It makes a great jacket if you are going in and out a lot and you're going to be outside for a short while. I live in MN so the people in southern states it would make a year around jacket. In MN it makes an excellent spring and fall jacket.

Great Wind Protection
October 17, 2012

If you're thinking of getting the regular Denali, get this one instead! The extra dollars are well worth it. We live in Chicago and my husband's only complaint about his regular Denali was that he could feel every little bit of wind and the chill when it's windy. Now he has the Wind Pro jacket, he doesn't feel cold at all when it's super windy! My husband is about 5'8" and 175 lbs with a belly that sticks out and the Medium is a good fit. NOTE: the Wind Pro has a tigher weave than the regular Denali so it doesn't have the soft/fluffy feel of the fleece. WP also doesn't have the arm pit zippers #which my husband never used# or the elbow panels.

Great Northface jacket
December 06, 2010

My husband absolutely loves this jacket! It is perfect for the cold winter months in GA. The quality of this jacket is superb and he says it definitely block the wind. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance

Very good material

The product was for my grandfather who is now 83, but loves to be outside. He loves the coat and says that it keeps him very warm and that no wind gets through it.

You Want Warm - Northface IS warm!

I bought my nephew a new Denali Wind Pro for Christmas. So , Of course I being the Aunt that he loves most, he gave me his old Denali after a long discussion, ha ha. I now know why everyone has to have this jacket. It is very cold here in NC, unseasonably cold. And I am very warm & cozy in my new/old Northface denali. You guys are great!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Great value, construction of jacket, Cons: Cost

a little bulky
March 06, 2010

This jacket is a lot thicker and heavier than I expected. It's a serious winter jacket, I wish I had gotten the windwall 2 instead because it's lighter and not as bulky yest still stops wind. Otherwise, a great jacket for really cold weather.

Great Jacket!
February 03, 2011

Very comfortable and great looking jacket. Compared to the regular Denali, it is definitely a step up. I equate the regular Denali to a Toyota, and the Wind Pro to a Lexus.

I have just received the jacket. I still have n’t had an opportunity to wear it, because it is summer in California. I bought size S. I am 5’ 7”, 150 lbs, and the jacket fits me very nicely. It is slightly larger than my other Apex Bionic jacket. It is very warm and comfortable. I like it a lot.

Pros: Build quality, Great value

Comfortable and warm
