Another great product by northface!
January 23, 2011

I've used these pants five times while snowboarding in WV. No sign of wear and tear yet. The quality is unmatched. The waistband is nice and soft on the inside, and you can even adjust the size with velcro straps on the side. Fits a little baggy but thats the style these days. The bottom holds up really well, high quality materials that you'd expect from northface. Completely waterproof, windproof. Kept me warm in 8-10 Degree weather with 20-30 knot winds. Big pockets and the vents do help quite a bit when inside . All my friends were jealous. Get a pair now before the season is over!

Not my first pair!
February 12, 2013

Have 3 pairs of these now ( just purchased asphalt grey). Quality is super-great -- my oldest pair still rock ! The versatility of the Freedom really works for a warm guy -- I swap out layering during the season, depending on conditions. The cut and fit ( 6' 1" 200 lbs, bought large, regular) allows for e-zzzzy movement, whether riding or skiing. The very useable big front pocket , adjustable waist band and good waterproofing of this pant were all absolute minimum requirements for me. Great pant, good value !

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Great value

December 23, 2011

I have to say that the reason I purchased the Freedom Pants was strictly based on price, and with that in mind, they offer a great value. My only dislike is the length. I thought they would be a bit longer. I use them only as "adult snow pants" and for that purpose, they are great.

Great ski pants, as advertised
January 23, 2013

I have been trying to review and purchase ski pants to replace old rain pants used as ski pants. These are ski pants and not board pants and they fit great. The trick seems to be to size correctly with current ski pants. I knew I wanted lightly insulated pants with a non-snowboard, non-baggy fit and these fit the bill with just enough articulation in the knee; I could kneel down and the waist did not pull down. As far the sizing, I fell right in line with some of what I read: I'm 6'0'' and 195 and the medium, regulars fit well with just enough room for any base layer or even a pair of heavy sweat pants - I never would have guessed. Usually large anything fits me. Materials are what you would expect and much better than the low end, especially around the cuffs where the abrasion resistant material is to protect against boot tear-out.

Pros: Build quality, Great value, Cons: not fancy design

Great Product
December 10, 2011

I needed a great snow pant for snowboarding and back country hiking and the Freedom pant fit the bill. I especially like the vented zips which allow me to hike all day and stay cool without building up sweat. There is plenty of storage in the pockets and the stitching is nicely done. I would definitely recommend these to a friend.

These are good pants, very high quality, fit well, but beware lots of leg room. I ordered a small (30 in waist) and the legs are incredibly baggy while the waist fits well. All told, not a big deal - just know you are getting a very wide leg on these pants.

XL-30" inseam. They are ski pants. Lose enough for Boarding if needed. I got the uninsulated ones as I would rather layer up then sweat to death while inside. As always Solid NorthFace construction.

Great Pants
January 02, 2010

I ordered these in the wicked grey and love them! However typically my pants size sits between 34-36 and I was tempted to go with the large, however after trying them on in a store I decided to go one size smaller to a medium and they fit perfectly and weren't that baggy as many other snow pants are!

Nice pants
January 04, 2010

I like the pants, however I thought I was ordering the insulated pair. I ordered the non-insulated pair my mistake. Am returning for the insulated Pair.

Price right / Fit right / Work right
October 08, 2011

Finally a pant that fits me right, I bought the Med Short as I'm only 5'8" and most pants are just to long but these fit perfect. Not some baggy jibber kid pant, not tight either but just a perfect fit to allow layering and/or movement. Love the Asphalt color too as it's not the norm and if it's as waterproof and durable as the HyVent jacket I've had for past two seasons I'm golden. One gripe is that it could be more vented, but hey for the price I can deal.

The North Face = Quality
November 20, 2011

I have to say I have owned a bunch of different snow pants and these are by far the best fitting, best quality pants I've owned. I now understand why most skiers where North Face on the mountain. Quality is all I have to say. Buy these. Do keep in mind the reg. fit is a little long. I'm 5'9" and went with the short due to other reviews. Reg fit would be fine for a 5'11" + tall person.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use

Sized but not tested
July 07, 2010

I got this in June. Yes, summer. The reason was only one - Medium Long size. I had been waiting for this size for quite a while but never was able to find any. I am 6ft with long legs. This Freedom pants fit perfect. The Hyvent is soft to touch and I was burning in an AC room in about 5 minutes. But as I open the zippers on the side (none on the inside thighs :( ), I instantly feel the circulation. The shipping from Altrec was very good. I paid $128 in total.

Freedom Pants
January 20, 2010

Nice overall fit for me. Material is on par with other similar cost ski pants. The nylon lining inside the pants seems to be static-free. The only thing I'd like to see changed is making the leg side zippers extend all the way from the waist to the bottom of each leg. The zipper only extends from the upper thigh to the knee area

warm with great features
March 01, 2013

I bought this based on the good reviews and I'm happy to say it has lived up to the recommendations. I wore it with a pair of fleece pants underneath and was quite warm XC skiing at 15 degrees all day, but not hot. I like the side vents with mesh behind them, the cargo pocket, and the side pockets. The Large waist fits pretty tight for me (34-35 waist) so I don't need to use the velcro tighteners, and they didn't bother me. The ankle covers would be nice for downhill skiing. However, I used gaiters for XC. Next time I may try without gaiters, although if you got into deep powder, the ankle covers wouldn't keep snow off your legs, I think. They're not gaiters. Sure it "zips" a little as you walk, but it wasn't noticeable while skiing and anyway, they're snow pants, right? The zip is expected.

highly recommended

March 14, 2005

perfect length
January 23, 2011

Very satisfied. The LONG length was surprisingly perfect for me standing at 6'6", normally wearing pants/jeans in size 33W x 36.5L. I was worried that the LARGE size might be too big in the waist, but it was not. I used these pants for 3 days of skiing in Idaho with temps in the teens and was never cold. Comparable to a loose fitting boot cut jean. Cannot comment on waterproofing as it was sunny every day.

February 24, 2012

I use these pants primarily for skiing. I wear a pair of Under Armor cold-gear leggings underneath, and I have always felt comfortable while on the slopes for hours at a time. The side leg vents are great for when I start to get warm, and the large leg pocket is perfect for easy access to the trail maps. I can see these being used as a general purpose snow pant as well -- I just haven't seen much of the white stuff this winter in New England!

Good Quality - Loose Fit
January 29, 2013

Being a slim guy, I'm a little out of the strike zone of most ski pants. They tend to be wide-legged and non-tapered - more like snowboard pants. Just eyeballing these, they appeared to possibly be a decent, closer fit than most current ski pants. No so. They are pretty baggy. Sent them back. Shame because the HyVent material is nice. If you're not chicken legged, these might be just the jam for you.

Great pants with reasonable price
January 23, 2012

Great pants with reasonable price. You may order the usual size of yours for the comfort around your waist but the leg widthh at the bottom is a bit wide. So if you eager to get skinny skiing pants like classic ones, you better try other brands. Functionality in the ski slope hasn't been checked yet but no doubt abt it.

Picked these pants up a while back and finally got a chance to try them out for some backpacking in the snow. They work pretty well with my gaiters and snow shoes. March 28, 2011

These pants are great on the slopes. I was worried about warmth, as these pants are not insulated. But I have had no problems down to -20 with stiff winds. Very nice pants but a bit baggy...
April 28, 2012

I have used North Face products long before they were hip, and I have never been disappointed by their design, quality, and durability. I am generally quite happy with these pants, but being a long-time alpine skier, I have not embraced the baggy look that has been popularized of late. I would not say these pants have a bad design, but I am not keen about their somewhat loose fit. If that's your thing, you won't be disappointed. If you like The North Face, you'll quickly recognize the quality in these pants that you've come to expect. Champagne powder to you all!

solid pair of pants
December 09, 2010

I haven't been able to properly use the pants yet, however, I was impressed with the fit around the waist. The velcro straps allow you to get the waist snug and secure. The pants are a little baggy, but it makes sense, you want them to fit over your boots. I'm a little over six feet, but I'm skinny, so I ordered a large inseam and a medium-sized waist and I'm happy with the fit. I am confident the pants will work well in the snow.

Light yet sturdy. I like the pockets too. North Face quality. Only regret is that I couldn't tell the difference between the colors from the website, but I like it anyways.

February 08, 2010

Typical North Face quality at a great price. Plenty warm with only a pair of fleece running tights underneath. However, I was surprised and a little dismayed by how baggy they are and how wide in the cuff.

Great Fit
April 01, 2010

This is the best ski/snow pant I have found. Has a slightly relaxed fit which is great as I have bigger thighs which makes them extremely comfortable. completely waterproof as far as I can tell, liked them so much bought a 2nd pair in different color.
