The North Face GTD Tight Shorts - Men's

I had hoped these shorts would be a good fit for hot yoga - but they really are not well suited at all for Yoga. It seems that either the Northface folks simply removed the padding from their standard biking shorts - or they were thoughtlessly designed for this purpose. BAD DESIGN. These are supposed to be tight fitting shorts for MEN. But there is no allowance for the bulge that all men have between their legs. There is a center seam that comes right up the center with a tight fit, so the male parts bulge under the seam in "camel toe" fashion. In Yoga, the thighs are pressed tightly together, forcing the male parts forward. Without an allowance for that bulge, the pants are uncomfortable and revealing. A curved seam from the thighs to the center top of the shorts would be an obvious fix. Because the shorts are thin and tight, the outline of male parts leaves NOTHING to the imagination. A bulge is fine, but I want to keep some things secret. These shorts need a "cod piece" to help support the male parts and conceal their details. BAD ZIPPER At first I thought the idea of a zipper pocket made sense - until I wore the shorts. Yoga has many postures on the back with raised legs (Wind-Removing Pose, Ab work, etc.). That zipper is positioned right over the hip bones, so it digs into the hip in these positions. Once again - it's a bad design that suggests the shorts were never tested by potential customers. TIGHT WAIST I bought Medium Men's because I am one - a 33 inch waist with almost no excess in that area. But these fit so tight that I get an unsightly bulge above the waistline. The waist band should be wider, lower on the hips and not as tight in this size. LONG LEGS The length of the leg inseam is about 2 inches too long. These aren't for biking, and there is no risk that the legs will ride up - so that extra length just makes the shorts hotter and less comfortable. No complaints about the material or quality of construction.
