Jacket is very warm and a very nice style as well, its a little bigger than its size but thats not a problem is you want to warm a sweater under you will have no problems. Northface is the best way to go with Chicago weather, it got my husband through those harsh cold days and nights. I have a Northface as well as our 4 children and we are never COLD! Thanks to the high durability material of Northface, we would never buy any other brand!!

Awesome Jacket
Great jacket! Extremely warm! It does fit a bit big. I normally were a large and a Medium is plenty big for me!

Very warm in the mountains of Afghanistan
The 550 down that is built into this parka is the warmest I have ever worn. I currently live on a 7,500' mountain in Afghanistan where temperatures fall into the negative and this coat keeps me warm. The wind also is no issue while wearing this coat. I am travelling to Siberia next month and plan to take this coat along.
I purchased the large, I am 5'9 and weigh around 180 pounds. The arm length is a little long for my build but it does not impede any activity that I need to do while wearing the coat. Actually, it provides more protection to my gloved hands which has been helpful while exposed to the elements. Other than that, the coat fits perfect as far as length and through the chest.
The removable hood feature is also very convenient and I have already used it. The hood is bulky but useful at night. During the day, I detach, put in my pack and put on a beanie or earflap hat.
I do not travel anywhere anymore without my Ipod touch and the internal pocket has been useful for storing and listening to music while travelling.
Overall, I am very pleased with the coat for the short amount of time I have had it. I am fine with the cost being a little more than their competitors as it has met and even exceeded my expectations for the environment I use it in.

Great jacket but
Like many North Face jackets the fitting tends to be a large. So if you normally order Medium from other mainstream brands order Small with North Face.
I bought the Gotham jacket instead. While still a bit big, not quite the same level as the Ice Jacket.
Also, would have love for North Face to increase the interior pockets.
A bit expensive, almost justifiable with North Face lasting quality.

Nice and Warm in New Haven
I'm 6ft/175lb and a bit of a knuckle dragger so all of the reviews which said that the Ice Jacket arm length-to-jacket sizing were very useful. I ordered the Medium and it fit just right, too right. In fact, while it was great in the arms, it was a little short on length of the torso. The bottom of the jacket was right at my waist, which was fine until I had to bend over or reach for anything and then I was cold city. I sent the jacket back and exchanged it for a Large and it is perfect. The slightly more size in the torso allows me to wear a layer or two under it comfortably.
We just had a decent blizzard here in CT and the roads had not been plowed sufficiently for my car to handle them one night during the storm, and so to get home that evening I had to walk 1.5 mi. in headlong snow and wind. The Ice Jacket performed well. All I had on underneath was a light wool sweater and t-shirt and I was downright toasty. Even though I was wearing a Smartwool "The Lid" (which performed very well too), the hood did a great job of keeping out the snow and keeping me warm as well. I'm so glad that I bought this coat and would gladly recommend it.

winter's must item!
So far, I really like this warm and comfortable jacket!
What I like about this Jacket is the "FUR" which does not look fake, unlike most other brand jackets out there. It makes the jacket look luxurious and fancy!
This jacket is very warm to survive the winter weathers, but it is bit too heavy for me in daily uses.
I purchased M size and my height is 5'6 and 150lb. M size was perfect for myself. Although it is a bit larger than my body size but I usually wear it with sweater , so it turns out to be perfect.
I am liking this jacket and I would definately recommend this jacket!

A Very Warm Jacket
The North Face products are always a good value. I bought this jacket for my nephew and when he put it on he fell in love with it. He wore it yesterday while the temperature was in the low teens and a wind blowing at 20 MPH. All he wore was a tee shirt underneath but the jacket kept him warm. This is a great cold weather jacket. I have an older model North Face jacket, also 550 down, and it has keep me warm for many years.

Very Great Coat
This is by far the best jacket I have ever owned. My only complaint (which is minor) is that it attracts every bit of lint to the shell....I bought the black jacket so it is very noticeable. Other than that it is a great jacket

Great Coat
Besides that it is a little bulky, this is a good buy. Worth every penny because it keeps you warm on the coldest days, keeps you dry on rainy days, its wind resistant and it looks good.

The Ice Jacket by North Face...
I want to start out by saying that i am more than happy with my purchase. I wanted a coat that would keep me warm in the cold of the northern Ohio winters and so far it had surpassed my expectations. When wearing I can literally tell you that I have yet to be cold. It is amazing. It is a little pricey, but if you want a coat to protect you from the elements and don't mind spending the extra dough this is a wise investment. You wont need another coat for years to come. The fur on the hood zips on and off, which is nice because it can overwhelm your face. The hood itself is over sized which I Love. There are enough pockets to carry anything you may need (gloves,hat,ipod) they all fit. This is am amazing coat, and I dare the weather to be rough, because i have the coat i need to get through it. This coat is bulky, it isn't designed for tight spaces or crowed restaurants. But it does its job keeping me warm better than any coat i have ever owned. Hope this helps. If you are thinking about this coat and can afford it, BUY IT you wont be let down.

It's 3 degrees today in Chicago, and this coat is warm & classy
Everybody's right--this jacket is warm, it looks nice without a lot of junk on it, the fur comes off--my husband hated the idea--and it runs large. He normally would have gotten a large, but we listened to the reviews and got a size smaller. Broad shoulders/5'11"/175 pounds = medium. Buying through Altrec was very easy and it came right away. I think it looks nicer and less boxy than the picture.

Superb Jacket
By far the best jacket i have bought. I have been going out in 20 degree weather with only a T-shirt underneath and its been fine. The outer layer construction also seems very durable and wind proof.

Nice and Comfortable
My husband loves this jacket, it is a very nice and comfortable jacket, specially if you like to ski. It has big pockets so you can put all your stuff while in the slops. It is also a beautiful jacket to wear all winter long.

The coat is so warm! I'm 6ft4, its long enough. It does fit true to size. Impressed with the quality, fur is nice. Zippers and seams are solid. Built to Last!

Warm
Got this jacket in October 2008, and it kept me warm all winter. Even used it twice in the alpine-slopes, and it was good. A cool jacket that will keep you warm downtown as well as in the skislopes. All the pockets are practical, and can carry all my golves, hats and etc.

Great Jacket
Very warm jacket but the bonus is the color and style of this Northface. Wore it through some tough winters and didn't need to layer underneath the jacket. Very good.

The name says it ALL
Very stylish winter jacket. The Ice Jacket is extremely insulated and warm. It does an excellent job repelling water. The hood is detachable along with the fur. The design of the hood is a bit large and they couldve trimmed down on the fur, it wraps around the head a bit much. Overall its a great winter jacket that will keep you warm.

Noth Face Ice Jacket is ideal for travels and college students
The jacket not only has a great look to it but has proven it is ready for the cold winter ahead. The detachable fur like trim makes for added protection around head and neck area. It's lightweight yet it still has the capabilities of retaining heat without feeling immobile. A great college jacket.

Winter Jacket
This is the warmest jacket I have ever had. It would be the perfect winter jacket, if they would do something about the sleeves,they are too long and the velcro closure is not good enough to hold them back from slipping down over your hands.

best coat I have ever owned
Very strong. water resistant. I can go out into the harsh winter and won't need any other layers. The down is soooo warm!

this jacket is worth its weight
Recently NY has been having some 25 degree weather. I could'nt have a purchase my jacket at a better time. I live in upstate NY where the temp is 6 degree below the average weather so going to work in my jacket keep me from freezing to death. North face really makes some all weather products.

Very warm jacket.
Waterproof, insulated, great design, what more could you ask for? Works very well in freezing temperatures and all you need is a shirt with this jacket and you'll be super warm.

My husband loves it!
I bought this for my husband we live in Cleveland, i got him a 2x and he's 6'3 and 230 Ibs, it fits him great hits right at his lower waist and it's super warm even though it's only 550 filled goose down. I have a northface 600 filled it's too warm.

great jacket for nyc winter
loved the outer layer, it's tough not like other goose down jackets where they can rip easily, I looks more like a snowboarding jacket but with the comfort of of a good goose down

WARM!!!

Men's North Face Ice Jacket gives top level cold weather perform
I've been wearing my new North Face Ice Jacket for the past two weeks during some brutally cold Wisconsin weather. It has kept me quite comfortable. I particularly like the array of inside and outside pockets which are large and strategically located. The Ice Jacket has become my favorite winter jacket.

Great Warm Jacket
This is a great warm down jacket. The pockets are very nice and over ample room for storage. The fabric is very nice and it's seems to be constructed very well. The length is perfect for walking around town and on campus, though I would recommend something longer if you're intending more extreme usage. My only complaint is that when you zip off the hood, half of a zipper is exposed on the neck without a fabric flap to cover it

Exceptional!!!
The Men's Ice Jacket was more than we expected! It is handsome and very warm jacket. It is not too long and it fits to your body contour. My husband does stop taking about it. He loves the outside texture including the hood. He has got many great compliments on it. It is great for the Wisconsin winters.

The North face M Ice Jacket
Absolutely brilliant jacket totally breathable with plenty-o-storage... I work in this jacket and would reccomend it anyone who needs it for movement although there is a longer version of this coat for those who do not need movement.. and my nano does not lock up when kept in internal pockets
