North Face Impulse excellent!
April 01, 2012
This shirt is extremely comfortable and the fit runs slightly large. I'm 6'0, 205 and a large is perfect. This shirt is medium weight and can be worn as a casual shirt with jeans or performance shirt. Excellent style and would highly recommend it!
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Great valueMarch 27, 2012
Not bad...feels a little cheap compared to most of their stuff. Feels very lightweight compared to most TNF clothing. Pretty good for the price though.
Pros: Great design, Ease of useMuch better than running in a sweat shirt
February 26, 2012
Everything it was advertised to be. Usually wear an extra large shirt (6'2" 210lbs) but got the Large. Still long enough and not to tight. Keeps my hands and arms protected from the cold. I wear running gloves with the arms pulled over the gloves. I use it in 20 to 30 degree weather and this shirt lets me get warm then does a good job of keeping me dry. I wear a running short sleeve tee shirt under this shirt. It looks good enough to wear casually but I like to keep my running stuff all in the same pile. So far I have been washing and drying it on the gentile cycle and that seems to work.
Pros: Great design, Performance, Ease of useGreat Lightweight Layer
January 27, 2012
I waited a little while before writing this review so I could give it a more honest review. This works great as base layer. It is a little lighter than I expected when I originally ordered but I have come to like it very much. I have worn it under a shirt with a golf windbreaker and have been comfortable playing to around 40 degrees. Many North Face items are a little snug on me so I usually go a size up. Not in this instance. I am 6'2" and 240 lbs and the XL is more than big enough. The sleeves are long and the thumb holes help keep the sleeves from riding up. Overall a great purchase.
Pros: Build quality, Great valueJanuary 07, 2012
As always I'm very happy with the quality of a North Face product. Good true to fit size. I love the extra length in the sleeves. Its a good shirt to wear either for running or as a midlayer for the cold winter days.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, PerformanceNorth Face Shirt

Great Shirt. If your looking at North Face products this is one you should consider. My wife says it looks great on me and I've even asked her to buy me another one in a different color.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, PerformanceGreat for casual or active outdoors
December 27, 2011
I bought a 1/4 zip impulse for those brisk evening jogs in the fall or winter. Upon first receiving, admittedly i wasnt that impressed. It appeared thin and not substaintal. After getting home later in the evening, i tossed on a t-shirt and the gear and then went for a jog. It was ~45 degrees outside and the pullover did a great jog keeping me warm and wicking away moisture. I enjoyed the monkey holes and the overall fit. I still think there is more upside to TNF in some of their other gear; however, i was left pleased in the end.
Pros: Great design, Performance, Great valueGreat for layering!

This shirt is great as a base layer when worn under a soft shell jacket. I haven't had to resort to opening my jacket's upper inside arm-to-flank vents to regulate my core temp. The fit is on the athletic side which I appreciate; no bagginess at the waist like most shirts!
Pros: Build quality, PerformanceNo Regrets Buying This
May 04, 2011
I wear this to run in all the time. I love that it is light enough to run in and still keeps me warm in the cold weather. I have no regrets buying this and I'm strongly considering buying another one.
nice layer or only shirt
April 14, 2011
Easy on/off. Comfortable. Wish NF/altrec had more color selections. Easy clean. I am liking all these new performance fabric options. Used to be an all-cotton dude.
love my northface running gear
April 14, 2011
the impluse is perfect on my early morning runs and also when i do 5k and 10k races ... it's very light, keeps you dry, keeps you warm on cold days run without overheating and the fit is great. i would recommend this product :)
Great Pullover!
April 01, 2011
I've been searching for months for a durable and functional pullover for running in the Fall/Winter months. My search is over! I ordered the North Face 1/4 Pullover in 3 different colors. I'm 6'5 and the XXL is a great fit for me. The sleeve are nice and long and the body of the pullover is spacious and perfect in length. The best future of this pullover is the zip pocket on the sleeve! I can't tell you how long I've looked for that feature in a pullover. It's great for keys, money, iPod and MP3 players. I will definitely purchase a couple more of these before they are discontinued.

Has a nice fitted feel. Collar does not stand up unless zipped. Sleeves are a good length. Makes a nice layer for winter running underneath a heavier outer layer on colder days.
Came back to buy more
March 07, 2011
As an ultramarathoner, I spend long hours running outside. As a Wisconsinite, more than a few of these hours are spent at temperatures below freezing. I just got this top a few weeks ago and I've been kicking myself for only getting one (so now I'm back to get another one or two)! The fit is fantastic, it's lightweight and breathable, and it performs well on its own down to about 27 degrees F. Colder than that, it's a great midlayer under a jacket. My only negative is with the arm pocket; it's a little difficult to open with one hand and something the size of a cellphone is going to shift around a lot. Otherwise, it's a good spot for keys, money, ID, etc.
Durability
March 01, 2011
Have been using this jacket to run in and for camping. It is great with temperature control, not so great on durability. The material that the back and underarms are made from our a little fragile. The material will snag easy, not sure if it was from the backpack or maybe from the velcro on a jacket that I wore on top of it. Highly suggest buying this if you are looking for a layer to wear while running or hiking. It breathes great and keeps you warm, but does not make you over heat. Fits great. I ordered a Med and am 6' 155 lbs. Ordered one for my wife too.
Men's Impulse 1/4 Zip 2010
February 28, 2011
I have both 2009 and 2010 impulse 1/4 zip. There are some subtle differences. The 2010 impulse seems a little bit smaller than the 2009 impulse, but still true to the size. The chest pocket of 2009 is moved to the arm. It feels strange and thick if you don't use it for your mp3 player or keys. The chest zip of the 2010 is 2" shorter. I found it as a drawback if you want to cool down your body quick. Overall, I like the style and would recommend it.
Great running jacket!
February 25, 2011
I bought this for my husband for the colder months when he likes to run outside. He says it is exactly what he was wanting. The pullover is lightweight yet warm enough to run in colder temperatures.
Love It
February 17, 2011
What a great fitting light weight top. Wicks away moisture, fits great and good looking. SO glad I purchased it. It is the perfect weight for activity.
Size difference
January 23, 2011
I wear a men's size medium in 98 percent of my shirts/jackets but this medium is slightly larger than I would prefer (I am a 5'10, 150lbs man). The arm size is perfect, but the fit is loose through the stomach area. You might consider a size smaller or try on for size at a retail store before purchasing online. Also, the collar lays flat when the zipper is down, so it looks sloppy and moves around when jogging/running. Other brands like Nike use thicker material in the collar so it stays "stiff" and in-place when the zipper is down. The material is superior quality and repels moisture as it should. It is comfortable and the colors are nice. I prefer similar 1/4 zips from other brands vs. The North Face because they fit better than this particular jacket from The North Face. Overall, I love The North Face for other products, but I would shop other brands before purchasing this 1/4 zip jacket.

My boyfriend loved this shirt. He wears it all the time because it keeps him warm but it's not very heavy so he can wear in under sweat shirts and jackets.
January 08, 2011
Great and light weight, i would recommend for any running activities. I really like the wicking material.
Great running shirt
December 18, 2010
I bought this shirt for my boyfriend after I read the great reviews. He saw it in the North Face Store and loved it. He's been wanting a running shirt that has the thumbholes. I was nervous because he has long arms, but it's great. It is thinner than I thought it was going to be but I think it'll actually be perfect.
My favorite long-sleeve shirt
December 06, 2010
This shirt is great! In fact, I'm looking to buy another one because I like it so much. Despite being a very light piece of clothing, it has always kept me warm during runs in near freezing temperatures. I'm 5'9" and 160 pounds and a medium fits perfectly on me.
The North Face Men's Impulse 1/4 Zip
December 06, 2010
This is another one of North Faces Great products. Very comfortable and nice. Looks great in white and hand thumb covers work good on the slopes!
Excellent for winter trail runs
January 31, 2010
Have worn this shirt with a short sleeve compression underneath for 25-40 degree trail runs: very comfortable, didn't cause me to sweat yet kept me warm enough. Nicely fitting so it doesn't get snagged on branches, rocks, etc along the trail. I was hesitant to put anything in the chest pocket (e.g., energy gel) however doing so hasn't resulted in wear on the shirt nor has it caused irritation.
great layer all around
December 25, 2009
This shirt is a great base, single or over layer, for any conditions or activities. I have one to cycle, and just got one for my brother to layer for snowboarding. Wicks very well and adds the right amount of insulation and protection. Also, pockets in a performance shirt like this are a definite plus.
One of my favorite shirts.

As a hang glider pilot many times it's 80 degrees at takeoff but can reach temps in the low 40s at altitude. I'm warm and toasty in the air but dry prior to takeoff.
Great Layer, Good Construction
October 18, 2009
I own several North Face products and this is one of my favorites. It is suitable for cool weather and is very light weight. Comfort is high and it fits snugly but is not overly tight. It also works very well as a layer with a heavier TNF fleece/Windwall. Construction is very good, fabric is high quality. I use this routinely for my evening walks and weekend bike rides. Highly recommended.
Love it; never disappointed
February 22, 2009
I have many NF layers but none with the kind of stretchy comfort that this provides. For something that isn't made of fleece, it keeps me quite warm. Also provides a simple extra layer for running outdoors when it is cooler, and without heat/perspiration retention. Way to go, NF, once again!
great top layer
August 26, 2008
This North Face top layer is a really good warm up or great for slightly cold weather. It breathes well, is snug fitting (without feeling tight) and does not impede movement. The fabric (whatever it is, maybe you can understand the fabric description above) IS very nice, and feels super light weight and comfortable. I use this for mountain biking when the temps are mild to chilly, and it is perfect for that. This is another great North Face product.
