Sizing ChartFit Tip: I'm 6' and an average build. I usually wear size xl and the xl fit me well. The bottom of the parka hit at mid thigh and the sleeves allowed a wide range of motion. Plenty of room for layering.
The North Face Men's McMurdo Down Parka
An enduring classic, The North Face McMurdo Parka offers everything a parka should be for work and play in cold weather. That's probably why this garment ranks among the most successful in The North Face outerwear collection. The McMurdo features a waterproof, breathable, seam-sealed construction backed by warm 550-fill down and more pockets than you'll typically find on most winter outerwear. If fur isn't your thing, the faux trim can be easily removed along with the entire adjustable hood. Inside the McMurdo Parka you'll find two zippered security pockets and two pockets for water bottles. This North Face Parka is also electronics ready, so you can hook up to your work radio or MP3 music player without running a bunch of wires or leaving zippers agape. Fun aside, the McMurdo is one of the best-equipped parkas we've seen, and unless global warming eliminates winter, we won't have a bunch in stock for long.

In Barrow Alaska, well below freezing working with helicopters. the Parka works very well... great insulation and the zip off Faux fur works well as a collar or as a hood / snorkel liner. Pockets are adequate and hold my winter gloves and hat. Shipping was prompt and the price was the lowest available.

I had been looking to buy the McMurdo Parka for awhile now. Always looking around for a deal or sale. I finally decided to buy the jacket from Altrec when I saw it on sale. Living in the northeast, it's always a good idea to have that one super warm jacket that will protect you for the brutal cold. I had owned another parka which just wasn't doing the job. After I finally got the McMurdo, I just waited for that bitter cold day to arrive. This jacket is fantastic. I wore a t-shirt underneath with this jacket on, you still stay nice and toasty. If you wear the hood then you can't even tell it's blistering cold outside. The jacket feels nice too, very comfortable, well made. I like all the internal pockets since I need places to carry my phone, mp3 player, etc. I highly recommend this jacket to everyone looking to stay warm in the winter.

With three children who play ice hockey i spend a lot of time in cold places. I was looking for a warm, comfortable jacket with a lot of accessible pockets and i found it in the North Face McMurdo Parka. Similar coats from other brands did not have the detachable hood which was a plus for me with the McMurdo. wearing this coat is like wrapping yourself in a down sleeping bag. cozy!

Is is heavily insulated and perfect for those frigid New York winters. I was planning on buying another for my little brother, depending on his report card, lol. I would definitely recommend it.

The coat is wonderful it has all the storage compartments you can possibly need... however the coat is bulky, and very heavy on the up side it is as warm as wearing a down comforter and does me very solid on the cold mornings in the New York City Streets. I am happy with the coat and wish i would have purchased it for past winters.

The McMurdo jacket was even better than I thought it would be.
