We've re-tooled again. Our renowned light, compressible high-pile Snap-T® now comes with a full-front zip and a wind flap. The 6.6-oz polyester fleece wicks moisture, dries quickly, and retains core warmth without bulk. It has two handwarmer pockets and a chest pocket that secures with a Supplex® snap-flap. Recyclable through the Common Threads Recycling Program.

I love the color and texture of the jacket. The color is unsual but lovely. I am certain that the jacket will keep me warm in the winter.

Is is heavily insulated and perfect for those frigid New York winters. I was planning on buying another for my little brother, depending on his report card, lol. I would definitely recommend it.
Please keep in mind that is a little bit heavy but very warm.

The coat is wonderful it has all the storage compartments you can possibly need... however the coat is bulky, and very heavy on the up side it is as warm as wearing a down comforter and does me very solid on the cold mornings in the New York City Streets. I am happy with the coat and wish i would have purchased it for past winters.

The McMurdo jacket was even better than I thought it would be.
It is extremely warm, yet not as bulky as it looked online. Sizes do run big. I normally wear an XL and the large fits me just right. If you're not a furry hood type of person, the fur detaches and you can attach it to the collar. It makes for a very nice look and allows you to leave the scarf at home.
The bad:
None, really, except that the winter this year where I live has been the warmest on record so I haven't got much use out of the coat.

Good jacket but it is heavy. Not recommended if you are performing strenuous activity. It is very warm and so far has handled every cold winter activity so far. Because of its size it will not give you much mobility.
Paul - 2007-01-27House On Your Back (in a good way)
A serious outdoor parka probably best suited for longer outdoor exposure, but kinda bulky for going in and out of the car a lot. It's cut long so it covers up a lot. It has internal waistband and bottom edge elastic cords to cinch it in as desired. It actually has 10 pockets total (whoa) on the outside (some pockets are inside others), and 5 on the inside of the coat (2 of those for water bottles). The outside fabric is a little stiff, and it's heavier than the Michelin Man jackets. The fit proportions are a little odd so it's helpful to try one on for size in a store first.
That being said, I LOVE it. Quality and workmanship seem top-notch and I like the feeling of being in an impregnable fortress when I venture outside into the cold and snowy stuff, even around town. It's nice not to always be bracing against the cold and just relax and enjoy it out there...

Prospective buyers should keep in mind that this jacket is heavy, bulky, and extremely warm. I live in California, so basically the McMurdo has a permanent spot in my closet. I do not regret the purchase because it is a very high quality jacket and looks very nice in person.

Nice down parka, with a great hood. sleeves too short for me, usually wear a large Tall. too much velcro: three internal pockets and three external pockets have the wool shredding stuff and the they put five patches of it in the hood/collar along with five snaps. they used only snaps on the wind flap, thank goodness. once you take the time to remove the velcro, it is a nice parka. upon reading the fine print on the tiny labels sewn inside, it says something to the effect that there is the minimum amount of down required by law. does that mean it is 30% feathers and 70% down? what ever, it works well and the HyVent stuff layered under the outer shell seems to block wind really well. they say it is waterproof too, but I have not the desire to wear it when it is raining, since that would be above freezing temperatures. It will stay in the closet until the windchills are around zero degrees! cannot imagine paying full price for it, does not seem worth it.

I live in the white mountains of New Hampshire and needed something that could deal with our sometimes brutally cold winters. This jacket certainly handles the cold but its so big and puffy that when I was wearing the coat I could barely fit in my car much less drive it (and I am a retty small guy!!!). If all you are doing is walking around in the cold, I guess this jacket is ok.
