Description

When a ferocious storm attempts to thwart your epic alpine expedition, reach into your pack for The North Face Meru Gore Jacket for men. You'll find a super-technical and durable, high-alpine climbing jacket that has been tested in the Himalayas and found to live up to its name. Constructed with waterproof, fully seam-taped GORE-TEX® Active Shell material, this winter shell provides the most critical protection in the worst conditions. Front core ventilation prevents you from getting too steamy whether you decide to push for the summit or retreat down the trail, while alpine-fit hard shell features grip on the shoulders to keep technical packs in place as you move. A fully-adjustable helmet-friendly hood with a brim keeps out the sideways rain and swivels with you for a natural, unobstructed view, and harness-compatible pockets allow easy access to your gear while the storm rages on. For activities where space and weight are an issue, the Meru jacket is guaranteed to keep you warm, dry and comfortable without weighing you down.

Gore-tex lightweight and comfortable
February 13, 2013

I've used other north face jacket this jacket but mostly I like to be light. It is very comfortable to use during rainy days. Moves comfortably also resists wind and water repellent too. This last key to this piece.

Pros: good design, quality at its seams (sealed), performence, good price

Good jacket with some disappointments . . .
February 14, 2013

Male, 5'6", 170 lbs., stocky Bought to use as shell for sking. Worn for six days at Big Sky, MT. Temperature range +22 to -11 F with wind gusts to ~30 MPH. Couple days sun, most days over cast with snow. Very light weight and easily packed. Goretex fabric performed as designed. Very little condensation built up, mostly on top of back area. Very large chest pockets made of mesh fabric. Experienced some air leak/chill in chest area. Self sealing zippers became difficult to operate as temps dropped below ~ 10 degrees. Main zipper is not two way causing me to hike the bottom to sit in chair lift. Alpine fit (aka fitted) became snug on the arms when worn over base layers. Recommmend but after trying on to make sure the alpine cut is right for you.

Awesome jacket!
November 19, 2012

This jacket exceeded my expectations. It is very light weight, like a rain jacket, and it is able to withstand decent winds without any issue. The material is completely waterproof and the hood has a nice fitting feature. Only downside to the jacket is the zipper is very stiff, which makes the front pop out whenever in a bent-over or sitting position. Definitely glad I got this jacket!

Pros: light weight, comfortable, Cons: stiff zipper
