mens n.f. redpoint jacket
Jacket is very warm and wind resistant for how light and thin the material is.I'm 5'9" and the medium fit perfect. Would definitely recommend this jacket to a friend.

First use
I wore the jacket today for the first time in 55 degree weather. It was so thin and light, I underestimated the effectiveness of the Primaloft lining--I'm allergic to feathers so it's been strictly polartec for me til now. It was too warm, which means it will be great alone in colder weather and a terrific (and not too bulky) inner layer when it's really cold. The medium size was snug and comfortable; I'm 5' 10" and 165. By North Face's reputation and appearance, I'm sure it's well-made, but obviously I haven't put it to the test yet. The only negative I noticed was the absence of pit zips.

Warm Redpoint jacket
I've used my Redpoint jacket in wind chills down to almost 20 below. It's an extremely light (in weight) jacket, and very comfortable. It's not the very warmest jacket you can find, but perfectly good for all but very cold temperatures. The quality is fantastic (zipper, stitching, etc.). It will be great for traveling since it's so light. I'm often between a medium and a large, and the medium jacket fits me perfectly. I'm looking forward to many years of use.

love it!
Its a great jacket!! I recently bought TNF Varius jacket and wanted to zip in something that will keep me warmer then the Varis itself and the Redpoint does exactly that. I didnt want a fleece zip-in like the Denali. I was looking at other "puffy" type jackets TNF offered but settled on this one. I didnt want a super puffy "Marshmallow Man" look, and jacket that I could wash. The Repoint has PrimaLoft insulation that will keep you warm, isn't too puffy or bulky looking. I'm 5'6' 165lbs and usually wear medium and the medium I ordered fits me well.

Good jacket, but ....
Jacket arrived promptly according to shipping timeframe. It was as promised: lightweight, good quality. The jacket was for my husband who is 6'5" and 190lbs... his sleeve length would be around 36/37. Unfortunately, this XL redpoint did not fit his lengthy frame (sleeves too short and billowed in the back). I am unable to comment further but would recommend and can attest to the jacket being as advertised on Altrec. Not to mention, North Face is well known to be a quality brand.

Perfect
Ordered this coat for my husband for Christmas. He always gets hot so easily, that he rarely wore a winter coat. This one is perfect, it's not too bulky or too light. It keeps him warm, but not too warm where he's not willing to wear it. I even got him a matching hat!
December 20, 2011
Very good choice
I bought this as a gift for a co-worker and it seems to be a nicer product than I expected. Very light weight and causual that you can wear anywhere in the current Dallas wheather.

Excellent Jacket!!!
I fell in love with the way this jacket looked online and it was exactly how I expected it to look when it came in. I am 6'1'' and 200 lbs and the large fits me perfectly. I can't wait to test it out in colder weather, I am sure it will do the job! Love TNF.

Great jacket. I was looking for something that would shield me from the winds in the Midwest but also work as an under layer for my North Face shell when skiing. This jacket is perfect for both. Plus, unlike similar jackets from other manufacturers, this has a convenient Napolean pocket. I highly recommend this jacket for technical wear and for wearing around town.

Great around town and on the mountain
This jacket has performed great on it's own when walking around in the city during the winter and is my go to insulating layer under a Gore-Tex shell when out on the mountain. I still cant believe how light it feels while wearing it. Definitely a solid alternative to down jackets and for a much lower cost.

Perfect for cold weather hiking
The whole family now owns this jacket (it comes in a women's version also). Layer it for under 35 degrees, otherwise it's warm enough for windy and cold weather all by itself. Zips into the Northface shell jacket for colder weather. Good for blocking the wind. Extremely lightweight and packs into one of the pockets for packing.
We love these jackets!

It's a mini down jacket.
I love the design and how it keeps me warm even though it's not as thick as a down jacket, it still gets the job done. The only thing that bothers me is the sizes. I normally wear medium, but it feels a bit fitted and the large feels too big. But I kind of have broad shoulders for my build, so it could just be me. Other than that, North Face never disappoints in quality.

Awesome Jacket
My wife insisted I get this jacket. Bittersweet Brown is a very cool color that looks great on and feels so soft and comfortable. The lining in the jacket keeps me very warm and it is also super lightweight. I love North Face stuff!

Primaloft, for when polyester just doesn't cut it.
Walking to work at 6:30am during winter in New England gets pretty cold. The jacket I wear needed more guts. Ordered this North Face Redpoint with Primaloft to replace my 3-in-1 flimsy polyester liner and it's great. Soft, light, and warm, maybe a little too warm on the mountain, but that's what vents are for. Great choice and it's zip-in compatible. Love it. 5'11" and 185 lbs with a perfect fitting size large.

Great Purchase!
I have never wrote a review or even purchased a North Face jacket before, but I had to share my experience this time. I purchased this North Face Redpoint jacket for my husband as a Valentine's Day gift and he loved it. I had some concerns with the size but after reading a couple of reviews I purchased a Medium jacket and it fit him just perfect (he is 5'7 and weights around 185). The quality and style of North Face jackets are very superior. I purchased the black color since it looks better and matches with everything.
February 15, 2011
cool jacket
bought this jacket as an insert for my coat because my 550 bubble insert was stolen. by itself its super warm, light weight and stylish. it inserts in my my old coat perfectly and makes it even warmer. the only con is that is is a little pricey, but everything north face is expensive
January 31, 2011
warm lightweight and comfy
This jacket is very warm and extremely lightweight. it provides comfort for wearing during mild activities as it also breathes. The nice thing about this is, you can put this in a small stuff sack and bring it skiing with you in the backcountry as am extra layer.
January 31, 2011
Great product - a must have
Superior product! Ultra light, breathable, stylish and warm when it needs to be.
January 12, 2011
Awesome coat!
I bought this for my husband who had insisted he did not need a new coat. He has been wearing it everyday since. We live in NC and my husband did not have a coat to wear out in the snow with the kids. At first I was worried it was too thin and lightweight to be warm, but he says it is incredibly warm. He was perfectly comfortable playing for 2 hours in the snow and 25 degree temps. Perfect coat...and looks good too! It is now his everyday coat to wear outside of his workday. Now I need one for me! Order a size up though...my husband usually takes a medium, but the large fit perfectly.

My Son Likes It
North Face is where it's at for teenagers. My son is delighted with the gift, and we at least know he will wear the coat because it has the cool factor!

Men's Redpoint Jacket review
I bought a North Face jacket in Spring this year and was looking for a layering piece that I could attach to inside of the jacket I have. I asked the customer service and she suggested me several options. Redpoint jacket was one of them. I am glad that I selected this one. It fits very well inside of my jacket and I now have a complete winter jacket to keep me warm during the winter season.
Redpoint jacket is very warm and good quality. I really love the combination. Moreover I can use both my Redpoint jacket and the other jacket on their own. It's a good price although I wish I had a coupon that I could have used.

Northface #2
I love the Northface Redpoint jacket. I would recommend this jacket to anyone. This jacket is relatively light for a winter coat, but still provides a substantial amount of warmth. It is also somewhat water-proof so being outside in the snow will not cause your jacket to be soaking wet. The only issue I have with this jacket -- an extremely minor issue -- is that the teeth on the zipper are plastic. One day during my morning rush, I jumped into my car however, I accidentally sat on and scrapped some of the zipper teeth with my jeans (I am not a heavy person) and several of the teeth broke off. However because of Altrec's extraordinary return policy, I was able to get another Northface Redpoint Jacket.

Awesome Lightweight Jacket
Bought this because my Nuptse was too bulky on warmer days. Jacket wears and washes up great. Perfect jacket for Spring/Fall travel. I've rolled it up into my laptop bag before just in case my destination has rough weather.
I bought the Bittersweet Brown color - which still looks the same as day one. No fade (typical of TNF). Zippered pockets are great for toting gloves, keys, and other small everyday items.

Great jacket for the $$$
I needed a warm/insulation layer and was thinking of either one of those TNF puffy coats or something that could work with a TNF shell I already had. So when I saw this I thought it would be a great solution to my problem. It was/is cheaper than TNF puffy coats, and much more versatile. It fits perfectly with TNF shell which is awesome and it's pretty damned good by itself. I live in Wisconsin, it gets cold, it snows etc.
So as soon as I got this coat I decided to see what it could do. First I took the dog for a morning walk/hike. It was 10-15 outside with no sun and the dog (chow/lab mix) wanted out of the cold before I did, and that's a rarity. Next I went out to shovel with it, and after 15 min or so I had to take off my gloves and hat cause I was getting too warm. To sum up, it's a great jacket that will fit in your other TNF coats (if applicable) and is pretty awesome all by itself. I highly recommend it.

North Face Redpoint Jacket Men
I love this jacket, it is extremely lightweight, fits true to size, and
easily packable and compressible for travel. The workmanship is excellent and the materials seem durable.
Machine washable and quick drying. I would recommend this to anyone, even my wife bought one after seeing the one I purchased.
December 7, 2010
love this jacket
this jacket is great for cool weather, and when it gets colder fits under other jackets to stay warm. i use this jacket on cool nights riding my motorcycle home from work. packs compack, but keeps you warm.
December 6, 2010
Excellent purchase
The Redpoint Jacket does everything I want it to. It is very comfortable and suitable for most conditions except very heavy rain or very very cold weather

Light and warm
Light and warm North Face jacket perfect for layering. Zippered hand pockets and chest pocket are very useful for stowing light gloves and a hat.

A great Jacket to Own
I have been wanting to have a North Face Jacket until I got this one and it really is a great jacket to own. So light and warm on your body. Perfect to wear in Washington where it is always cold and wet. A great buy!

Stylish, light, warm as a fleece, PLUS some windbreaking too!
Love LOVE this jacket! Been wanting it in New Taupe Green ever since I saw it over a year ago! Had some OT in my check so I justified buying it finally! (I didn't really NEED another jacket - I just WANTED it!) I put it to the test this past weekend on a late winter backpacking / hiking trip in the Dix Wilderness in the Adirondack Mountains. As I approached the summit on Macomb Mountain the wind started to get quite insane! I'd say it was about 30 degrees, but with the wind chill it probably felt like 10 or less. While hiking up the mountain I was getting by with a heavy weight base layer only. But that wasn't cutting it any more while standing still on the wind whipped summit overlook! I threw on my awesome trusty Redpoint jacket and all was well again! This jacket looks cool, is soft and comfortable, has the warmth of a standard fleece and some "windbreaking" you won't get from a fleece without a shell. (So maybe it's warmer than your standard fleece!) PERFECT! Especially when getting it on sale at Altrec! Now if I can only keep it from getting scarred up by camp stoves and camp fires etc.!

My fiance loved it!!
I bought this jacket for my fiance for Valentine's day. He loved it!! He wears it all the time. He told me that although the jacket is very light, it is really warm. I am glad I got him this jacket.
February 22, 2010
Great jack!
Know how you can't hardly ever wear your big puffy because it's way too hot? this is the answer. Anything outside of torrential downpour bounces right off. Perfect layering unit. Great buy

My Son Loves It!
I bought this jacket for my son ~ the king of I don't need a coat. He loves it and has gotten some compliments on it from his friends. I'm happy because I know he is warm dry and he is happy because he looks good! The style is classic - seems true to size and deceptivly lightweight.
January 24, 2010
This jacket rocks
Light weight and extremely warm. Works great as a liner.
January 23, 2010
Very Happy
This jacket is light weight yet warm. My son took it with him to Barcelona and says it is working out great. It is easy to pack and it serves a purpose.
January 12, 2010
Great jacket for the price
I wanted a winter jacket that wasn't as bulky as down, but light enough to work outside. This jacket does a great job at both. Plus, it's wind resistant. I only gave it 4 stars though because when pulling anything out of the left hand pocket, the stuff sack that is attached to the pocket comes out as well, which for me is really annoying. Great jacket for the price though.

The North Face Men's Redpoint Jacket
I ordered The North Face Men's Redpoint Jacket for my 17 year old son on 12/22 for Christmas. I was afraid it might not make it in time. I received it the next day and he loved it! I will order from Altrec again without hesitation.
January 5, 2010
Very satisfied
Very lightweight but very warm. My husband likes that it folds up into its own pocket, not bulky and great for traveling.
January 2, 2010
Feels like a pajama top
I have lived in Montana and put TNF to the test for over 30 years. They make incredible expedition level gear. This coat is light yet extremely warm. Alone or with a shell the Redpoint is an incredible coat that handles really cold weather. Buy it!
December 19, 2009
Great looking jacket but not quite what I was looking for.
Only giving this 4 stars just because it was not quite what I was looking for. Was going to give this to my husband for Christmas but I think that now that I have received it in the mail I will return it and get The North Face Men's Down Aconcagua Jacket instead just because I am worried that it will not be warm enough. It is compact and light, so much so that when he felt the package the jacket was delivered in he thought it was a shirt that I was ordering him for Christmas.
December 17, 2009
Great lightweight coat
This is a great lightweight coat for the Fall. It does a great job keeping me warm on the cold and windy streets of New York City. I also like that it can snap and zip into my North Face Gore-Tex winter jacket.
December 17, 2009
great jacket
Very lightweight and provides a lot of warmth, very packable.
December 16, 2009
great jacket
Well made, lightweight, but warm. Was worried it would be too short for my 6'2" son, but the length is perfect. Like that it is a bit longer in the back too.
December 13, 2009
Great Coat
I live in Chile and I have to say this is the best jacket in the world, perfect for fall and early winter, and in summer we have cold nights so it works for me all year long!
October 14, 2009
Great Fall Jacket
This jacket is lightweight, but keeps you nice and warm. I hate wearing heavy jackets. They are uncomfortable and feel bulky. This jacket is lightweight, but still keeps you warm without the bulkiness.
September 28, 2009
great coat
perfect for late fall/early spring. very warm and great under a shell.
June 11, 2009
Very disappointing for North Face
The Redpoint has so many flaws I don't know where to start. First off, it's not very warm. Yes, I know, 100 g PrimaLoft isn't supposed to be, but don't bother using this jacket when the temps fall below 50 F. The jacket feels very "fitted", almost as if it was meant to be used as an inner layer under a shell. When I zipped it into my Mountain Light jacket, the sleeve snaps kept coming undone as I pulled my arms out. Poor quality? Maybe. Even my neck felt cold as there is no fleece lining to keep it warm when zipped all the way up. There is no compression bungee along the neckline like Mountain Hard Wear has, so wind gets in there quickly. In the end I just grab my Denali and go, and not even bother with this wasted purchase.
May 6, 2009
Great jacket
Perfect for the end of winter season when the temps start to warm up. Not too bulky and very comfortable.
April 13, 2009
this jacket is super
I have purchased this jacket last year and I'd like to say that it's great for max -10 C. very light and warm.
March 7, 2009
Great Jacket
The Jacket is great by itself or layered with another jacket. Its not too heavy and its something you can wear anywhere...One of the best jackets I've ever purchased.
February 24, 2009
Good everyday jacket
It's not as thick and warm as I thought it would be. It's pretty thin and lighweight, will not be a good choice if you are thinking about wearing during cold winter conditions (unless you are wearing another shell over it). It's good during early spring when it's cool outside but not freezing.
February 22, 2009
Great Jacket!
Much warmer than the weight would suggest! Fits great!
February 15, 2009
Very high value
This jacket is great for stand alone use or zipped into a shell. Fits well, very light and warm. No windstopping ability so get a shell to go with it.
January 9, 2009
Very Nice Jacket
Nice lightweight, yet warm jacket. Not bulky at all. 5'11 185, large fits perfect. Happy with purchase.
January 2, 2009
ideal primaloft jacket
pros: thin, lightweight, good styling, large pockets and well constructed (mine is made in vietnam). cons: primaloft-eco not as warm as down (not necessarily a problem if used as intended), no inside pockets, arm holes seem high. this is an outstanding choice for a primaloft jacket (key word:jacket-not parka or coat). it has been adequately warm for me when used in single digit (fahrenheit) weather, provided I had a light layer underneath. my down coats are also usually way to warm to wear when inside-even for a few minutes, but this jacket regulates this situation better. mostly wind/moisture proof. small elastic cuffs are excellent and (along with cavernous pockets) make this jacket easy to use. while i did find the fit on other similar jackets (mountain hardwear compressor) too small (large), the fit on the red point is very good (standard size large sizing), although i found the arm holes to be a tad high, but overall not a problem. great job north face on an ideal primaloft jacket. thanks to altrec for a great deal and fast service!
December 23, 2008
Awesome Jacket
I'm very happy with this jacket. It's just as light, compressible, and warm, as I expected, and the fit is great. It's great for layering on the really cold days and not too warm for the merely chilly days. Nice cinch edges and pocket space, and the stow pocket is great for packing. My only gripe is that the outer fabric is thin and doesn't deal well with thorns, so you might consider another jacket if you're a big brush scrambler. Altrec's service and support is unbeatable.
November 10, 2008
Perfect Jacket
Great jacket for those windy days working outside. Fits well, light weight, good wind blocking, somewhat water proof. Very happy with purchase. Sleeves are a little short/tight but I can deal. I'm 5'11" and ordered a medium, maybe should have gone with a large; though the body fits perfect.
November 2, 2008
Great Jacket
I live in Stockholm and needless to say its chilly. This is my favorite 3 season grab a go jacket. Works great for layering too. Im 61 and the large fits perfect.
