Happy with purchase

We do like this product. It is pretty light weight but that adds to the comfort. We haven't had it very long or worn it much yet but it appears to be what we wanted.
Good Base Layer Fleece Jacket
December 26, 2005
It isn’t the only jacket you’ll need – but it’s a great cool to somewhat cold weather stand-alone jacket and makes an excellent base underneath a wind/waterproof shell.
Great Jacket - Will See Much Use
October 20, 2005
This is a great polartec 100 jacket from TNF. I have their Polartec 200 (Pumori) and their Polartec 300 (Denali) jackets and like these, the Salathe is a great product. A few quibbles: Like with my Pumori, the Salathe zipper seems to constantly get stuck on the wind-flap below the chin. Also, be careful of sizing - I have the size L in Pumori and Denali, which seem a bit on the larger side for me, so I got a size M in the Salathe - the body fits perfectly, but the sleeves come just short of my wrists, which is fine with me, but I don't have long arms, so for someone with longer arms, this may prove annoying. For reference, I'm 5'9" and on the slimmer side. Also, Altrec is a great outfit, great service, great prices and great deals.
Comfy, lightweight fleece
February 10, 2011
I like this jacket. All too often I read reviews of products in which reviewers are too critical of an item because they bought something that wasn't intended for how they planned to use it. This is a lightweight fleece jacket intended for casual wear. For that purpose, it does the job. The 100 weight fleece is soft and in my experience my jacket didn't shed excessively. With lesser quality fleece sometimes it starts pilling immediately, this jacket didn't. It's looking just fine. The cuffs on this jacket actually work well for a casual coat and are comfortable. All in all, this jacket works nicely for cool Southern California mornings and nights.
Great Fleece
March 06, 2007
Looks great out on the town, keeps you warm on the trail. A great fleece for 40 to 50 degree temps. or zip into your favorite shell for those cold weather excursions.
Excellent for Spring Skiing
May 14, 2005
I have a North Face Denali (which is great for the cold weather) but for Spring skiing, the Salathe is perfect...and allows for comfort adjustments.
Awesome
November 13, 2004
This fleece jacket is awesome. I wore it today and it kept me warm all day. It also zips write into my North Face jacket. It's Great!
Great jacket
September 03, 2005
Great jacket from an excellent store!
Light and warm jacket
September 11, 2006
This is very light and warm jacket. It is great to wear inside the shell.
Boyfriends Jacket
September 28, 2009
I was looking for a lightweight fleece for a gift. I found a nice North Face one and when purchasing was linked up with Altrec. To my surprise the jacket was on SALE!! It only took a few days for delivery and it was exactly what I wanted. He loved it. Thanks!
Great fleece
March 05, 2005
This fleece has been great since the day I bought it. It is awesome for cool days where a big jacket is too much, and a regular shirt is to little. I would reccomend this product to everyone looking for a great fleece.
March 06, 2011
Currently using item in inclament weather. Using as a zip-in for waterproof/windproof outer shell, so far so good. Weather so unpredictable in area I'm in that it's nice to be able to take it out as a liner and use as a light sweater--will come in handy in the upcoming scorching summer months. If looking to use as zip-in for harsh cold weather conditions, recommend getting thicker fleece as zip-in.
Perfect: service/quality
January 09, 2005
The North Face jacket I ordered is just what my son wanted. I received the item almost immediately and it fits/looks just great. Thank you.
Simply good
November 01, 2006
You can say many things about this fleece but one word precisely describe Salathe Jacket simply perfect I had Salathe Jacket base on polartec 100 fleece but this edition is also worthy to buy.
Great Fit
August 26, 2005
The perfect addition to my gear. Very warm and very light.
Great lightweight fleece
April 16, 2005
I used this jacket this ski season under a gore-tex shell. It performed great. Just enough insulation to keep warm, but not enough to overheat on most days. No complaints. Another plus is that I always like supporting Polartec/Malden Mills - one of the few respectable companies these days.
the perfect liner for for a TNF shell
March 25, 2010
Great jacket with a great fit. My only complaint is that the color seemed faded. I ordered black but it appeared grey.

I use it more than I expected
March 03, 2013
This has been my go-to jacket for around town during the fall/spring seasons. Very comfortable and more than warm enough during these seasons...a great light fleece.
its great
March 08, 2005
I like it very much, it warms me up this winter time, It goes perfectly with my north face nuptse jacket.
Average
August 27, 2005
A 100 weight fleece that I would NOT have purchased if it hadn't been on sale. TNF is ridiculously overpriced for what you get. This jacket could use a chest-level zip pocket and I'm not happy with the way TNF has designed the the cuffs of this jacket---not a big fan of elasticised cuffs. I'm sure it will be decent for ice climbing though and for cooler days when a light fleece is needed. I'm curious to see how well the anti-microbial treatment holds up after a season of ice climbing. Overall if I had to get another jacket I would likely choose something by Mountain Hardwear or Arctery'x
Lightweight and warm
October 05, 2006
A great warm jacket that doesnt have alot of bulk

Excellent jacket for the spring and fall. Great fit and works well for layering under a shell during colder weather.
Great Jacket
September 12, 2005
This jacket arrived quickly. Living in Alaska, I rate this jacket as great. It is light and keeps me warm and can easily be worn under a Gortex jacket for the snowy days. A must buy.
very prompt; good clothes

My boyfriend really likes the jacket I purchased for him and I was very pleased to find it at such a low price!

Men's Salathe Jacket
January 30, 2005
This is a great lightweight fleece. I used this to run in the morning and it is great even during cold winter mornings in the Northeast US. I shopped around for a while before making my decision Ultimately I decided on the Salathe Jacket and I glad I did.
Good Quality Jacket
June 30, 2010
Purchased as a light weight mid layer for cool winter days. Works perfectly.
Nice Jacket
October 07, 2009
I purchased mine to use as a zip in liner for a North Face Guide Jacket. I considered several options. This jacket provided warmth, is a smoother fleece surface which makes it easier to get in and out of, and being fleece wicks well. I am happy with this choice.
Nice Jacket!
September 05, 2005
A great jacket to wear around here in GA on fall and spring days. Great quality and good compression.

You can say many things about this fleece but one word precisely describe Salathe Jacket – simply perfect I had Salathe Jacket base on polartec 100 fleece but this edition is also worthy to buy.
November 02, 2011
nice jacket, comfortable, relatively warm. typical fleece jacket you may be looking for. the one annoying thing is the north face zip-in straps located under the wrists. i bought with the intention of wearing it alone, but it is obviously meant to be a base layer to something else.
Pros: Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Cons: Bad designoverall... good purchase
October 03, 2011
My husband likes it and it came in handy when travelling on an airplane. I wish it is a bit thicker and has better lining. It is nice fit though. It is quite think, yet blocks some wind on a fall day in midwest and east coast area. It says black color but actual color was more like dark grey. I have not washed it yet and little worried. If anyone concern about style, it might be okay with short sleeves inderneath it but for funcioning wise, you might need thicker jacket in this late fall weater in east coast.
Pros: Great design, Ease of use, Great value, Cons: Wears quickly, Low performance, Poor qualityAlready own the The North Face Salathe Jacket? Tell us your thoughts.
great zip-in jacket
October 23, 2010
Jacket is perfect zip-in compatible with my TNF outer shell. Jacket is warm and comfy. For tall person (6'5") the XL sleeves work great.
lightweight & warm
September 24, 2007
This jacket is better that wearing a sweater because it's light & warm. You can easily stuff this in your bag.

Sheds too much!
August 23, 2004
Jacket is very light and fits well under a coat. Problem is it sheds on everything you got! I hoped TNF would have done a better job at keeping the fabric from losing some of the material in use.
All-around must have for any climate!
September 11, 2010
This jacket provides adequate insulation and is breathable and you can take it anywhere, as it stows away easily in a backpack or luggage - it's a staple for any climate/region.
Good Times
December 28, 2004
Jacket makes for a balmy article of clothing. Wind goes right through it though, so you may want a shell over it; this leads me to wonder why they put a flap behind the zipper. But said zipper has never eaten up my beard, so something must be working right. I've never noticed pilling on the fleece, although the inside of the pockets is beginning to look a little threadbare. This is a fine jacket that has served me all four seasons.
Don't hesitate...buy
May 14, 2009
Perfect lightweight jacket. Purchased for the spring because my usual Patagonia fleece is too heavy for the Oklahoma early spring. HIghly recommend.
He loves it!
September 03, 2005
I bought this for my husband - a diehard Patagonia fan (oops. I forgot about that) - and he loves it. Great color, great fit!
Fantastic purchase
February 16, 2007
This jacket is really awesome. I wear it almost every day when I go to work in the university where I teach and it match perfectly with every casual pants. This is the second I bought. Besides, the details (zipper, logo, fabric, etc) reflects a high quality product.
Just as advertised
September 05, 2005
Product arrived on the day that was predicted. It was in great condition and was exactly what I ordered. The size chart was correct, too.
Perfect weight for just cool evenings
July 27, 2010
Light and thin but warm. Just what you need when only a little something is needed. Quality can't be beat. Don't think anyone would be disappointed with this jacket.
college kids dream
October 08, 2009
I purchased this jacket for my son. He is a fan of North Face. He loved it. He couldn't believe I paid so little for it. Every college kid should have one. It's warm, fashionable & at a great price!
Decent Jacket
August 22, 2005
Reasonably priced. I was very excited to get it however on the back where the North Face logo is were holes. Just a couple of small ones. Disappointed since I have been looking everywhere for a decent priced North Face fleece. Very light weight which was unexpected.
very nice looking
September 07, 2005
I bought this for my husband to wear in the spring and fall since he never takes his Denali jacket off in the winter. It looks great and the weight is perfect to take the chill off of cool days. This was a great gift.
Great Jacket with one flaw
March 13, 2010
Very nice Jacket, warm, soft, comfortable. Could use waist cinch cords to tighten bottom.
Great as a Gift
July 01, 2005
I picked this up for my son-in-law for use during the chilly/cold New England fall and winter months. He's a bit of an outdoors-type and doesn't like to be burdened with heavy, bulky outerwear. This suits him just fine.
awsome
September 21, 2004
Great kept me warm and never sheds.
versatile zip-in
May 17, 2011
I got this as a p[art of the North Face Zip-in system, as it fits into the super TNF Mountain Light gore-tex shell I already have. Together, they make a superior package. I've been using the MtnLight with a Redpoint jacket and it is sometimes too warm. The Salathe is a nice complement and it is featherweight (xl size- 417g) and comfortable (still plenty warm, as the Mountain Light is not really all that light (xl size 737g with the zip hood installed)). Being fleece, the sleeves are grabby when wearing it over certain fabrics (the slick Redpoint is better) but with short sleeve shirts, the fleece sleeves feel great. As a standalone, the Salathe is fine, but sometimes the cuff snaps (by which it is fastened into the shell) can be a little annoying. All in all, the Mountain Light-Salathe-Redpoint is such a versatile system, that I think it is great for anyone who wants a really top quality complete package on a budget.

In one word, Great!
August 29, 2006
Great lightweight shirt. I use this as an underlayer in the fall and under a shell when it's cooler. It performs great, and fits perfectly.
Excellent Quality
January 04, 2005
GREAT BUY!! Item is incredibly warm for its lightweight. I wear it under my waders for duck hunting, or by itself for jogging. It doesn't shed and the 100% fleece collar feels great around my neck. I definitley reccomend this jacket!
Fantastic
May 18, 2007
Light fleece great in all weathers. By itself or layered. May purchase another color
LOVE IT AND ALTREC

I love my North face Salathe jacket and love the service i got even better, and at this very minute im bout to make another order!!!
Soft, lightweight coat
May 15, 2005
A super soft lightweight fleece that I like to take lots of places. Look forward to trying it in the mountains.
Nice jacket
August 19, 2011
Great jacket for early fall or spring. Fits great and very comfortable. It can work as a stand alone jacket or as a layer underneath a heavier coat. Looks nice too.
Pros: Great design, Great valueWrite a review for the The North Face Salathe Jacket here.
Very good quality, nice warmth-to-weight ratio
September 05, 2005
This surprised me--it was thinner than I expected. However, it retains heat very well on chilly evenings, and looks to be a very good middle layer under a shell. I am luke warm on the thin elastic band around the waste but it is not so tight as to give a "Hershey's Kiss" appearance.
great fleece
September 08, 2005
great,soft,warm fleece. love it
Good quality
March 14, 2005
The quality of the Men's Salathe Jacket is very good. It will be a great liner for my TNF Mountain Light Jacket. My only concern is that it's so thin (almost see through) that I'm concerned about it's ability to last. I also don't feel it could be very useful as a stand alone light jacket as it would allow every little breeze to pass though.
Great price and service
April 26, 2005
Finding what I was looking for was easy and the price and service were great. The jacket was shipped quickly and arrived on time.
warmth without weight
September 07, 2005
I bought this jacket because I have a job where I'm in and out of my car all day. I need a jacket that is warm but not too hot. This jacket was tailor-made for me!I am also happy with this, as I can throw another shell over this when outside for extended periods of time.
great jacket
September 05, 2005

It is very light but also very warm.
First time owning a North Flace fleece jacket
May 18, 2009
The product arrived today at my workplace, and surprisingly the size "S" fit me pretty well (I'm around 5'7 and 130lbs). First time owner of a North Face fleece jacket and I already could tell that I will own a LOT more North Face ones in the future. Plus my wife said I look good on it!
fantastic jacket
January 19, 2005
This jacket in the best fleece jacket in my closet. It is very warm for such a light weight jacket.
Nice jacket
May 04, 2005
I bought this jacket to layer under a ski parka for spring skiing. It's perfect for this!
good service
January 17, 2005
A nice, warm little jacket. Great shipping too!
Good style - minimal warmth
February 21, 2011
Bought this as a mid layer for use under my hard shell. I am 5'9" 165 and the size M fit fine. Adds some warmth. Liked the styling, but the material felt almost too thin, which makes me think the jacket won't be very durable over the long haul. Looking back, I should have gone with a slightly thicker fleece - will try the Khumbu next.
Great option for fall

Excellent
December 02, 2005
I used this fleece during our latest Grand Canyon trip. It worked perfectly with a Calpine baselayer, the,Salathe fleece, then a marmot windshirt. Just the ticket for layering in southwest climates.
Great jacket
August 16, 2011
I bought this jacket for my son a few months ago and he loves it. It is well made and comfortable. We've washed it a few times and it is wearing well so far without any pilling. It is lightweight but warm enough to wear in cool weather. It will make a good layer to wear under a jacket in colder weather. It's a good buy at this price.

Great buy!!!
February 16, 2005
It was the style and fit I was looking for. If weather is permitting...it's the jacket I wear.
A must have
August 21, 2009
A lightweight 100 fleece is a must have in almost any region of the Continental US at some point in the year. The Salathe fits the bill perfectly--it packs light and pretty small, it works well in the light mists of the NW as outer wear, and as a layer under a shell in heavier rain, and it fits well enough to wear around town.
Awesome lightweight jacket!
December 11, 2010
Cool jacket! Better customer service! Awesome company, will always go with Altrec!!!!!

The usual North Face quality
August 18, 2005
Mainly for when a shell is not quite enough. I add this jacket as my middle layer. In north Texas, this is about all you ever need.
Amazing light fleece
March 08, 2005
This lightweight jacket is an amazing fleece. It is not a winter coat, but it keeps you fairly warm and can be layered inside any cover or outerwear. I love it.
Nice coat, but...
September 22, 2005
It's a nice coat, but it sheds more than my dog. I have the red one and everyday I wear it, I'm pulling red stuff off my clothes. Even had some floating around my car. Not what I expected.

Great lightweight jacket
May 12, 2009
I bought this jacket as a lighter fleece to wear alone or under my Apex Bionic. It fits that wonderfully. Not bulky at all. It seems true to size at least compared to the Apex Bionic.
