My Snake Eye
May 19, 2012
This is from their Summit Series so you expect it to the best of their line as a lot of the North Face line is diluted to compete with lower priced lines. With the Snake Eye you get it, great seams, zippers, zipper pulls, fabric weave, ... As a layer the Snake Eye wins hands down; it is lightweight, packable and even has a nice fashion look for wearing around town. If you team this up with a breathable rain/wind jacket the combo is great and in the P. North West you will be happy (try the packable Marmont Super Mica). Wear a thermal under that combo and you will be warm and toasty. Just a T with the Snake Eye and in downtown Seattle after the sun sets and the chill sets in, you will still be happy that you choose the patio sitting for dinner. The 'bad'; it is not a wind breaker, not designed to be and not advertised that way, but a friend tried mine and hates it since it is not a close knit 'fleece' (you can hold it up and see light through it). Again team it with a packable rain layer and/or a long sleeve thermal or T and you have a great combo that can be change over the course of a day... Not sure about: There is no shoulder reinforcements and I am not sure about long term wear from my day pack straps or my Timbuk2 city bag... Wish list: Add an inside pocket and a headset/cable management guides along the zipper line and I would buy two ;-)
Pros: Great design, Build quality, PerformanceGreat jacket

The jacket is light - doesn't feel like you're wearing a jacket. It fits just like all of the north face jacket fits - I like consistency. Design is great/different.
Pros: Great design, Build quality
