Description

Whether you're an ultra runner or just ultra big on running, The North Face designed the Men's Stormy Trail Jacket to meet the needs of athletes who don't have the time or patience for sub-par outdoor clothing. Pricey, yet worth every penny, this ultra-light running jacket is made from microporous 3-layer HyVent® Alpha fabric that is waterproof, windproof and so breathable it doesn't need any vents. This rain jacket has an inner mesh lining that offers next-to-skin comfort and elastic cuffs to help seal out the elements. You've got elbow articulation to reduce wind drag and weight while increasing mobility and a zippered chest pocket for an energy gel or 2. You may be fast enough to outrun the weather, but when the snain (slushy-rain) shows no sign of letting up, you'll be stoked to have The North Face Stormy Trail Jacket for men in your arsenal of running outerwear. Seriously folks, this jacket is slick, AND it weighs 8.5 ounces. You know you'll love it.

Finally Found what I was looking for
April 12, 2012

I think this is a perfect "outer shell" jacket for all conditions. It allows room for a base and, if climate requires, middle layer, but itself does not add bulk. Great in dry weather as well as rain and wind. I had tried and/or own several jackets prior to this one, and I finally found what I hope to use for a long time (main purpose running/trail running). High-tech fabrics construction impressive, and a bigger-than-typical breast pocket for ipod + cellphone.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance
Cons: none
Comfort: 3 / 5
Durability: 4 / 5

Paper Thin Trail Jacket
December 07, 2011

It's paper like feel, with a simi-soft waterproof shell that is more of an outer shell than anything else. It fits well I'm a 6' 2" slender build and the length of the medium jacket could be an inch or two longer. However it seems to fit well. the fact that it's hyvent alpha, sealed seams, and is a product by the north face I don't think the rain will ever get through unless you take the jacket off. Overall I would say it's comparable to the TNF Amp Hybrid jacket that they put out a few years ago. I just don't like the fact that you have to clip off the hood at the center before you use it as a regular jacket. The TNF could have use some type of velcro to mount the center of the hood together with the back of the jacket collar.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use
Cons: cliping the hood away from the jacket
Comfort: 5 / 5

WaterProtection: 4 / 5
