You could spend a little more on a couple of cheap fleece pullovers and jackets in various thicknesses and be done for ten months, or you could buy this versatile and long-lasting TKA 100 1/4 Zip Glacier Jacket from The North Face. Unlike bargain discount fleece, The North Face TKA 100 1/4 Zip Glacier Jacket has a special fabric design that resists pilling and fading without falling apart--no matter how many times you wash it. Granted, it won't hold up to a decade of rolling around on granite boulders, but when you consider that the cheap stuff often frays and pills under a waterproof shell, well… there isn't much of a comparison. This is a great summer piece for evening camping and it also layers well beneath an insulated performance shell throughout the skiing and climbing season.

Light and soft. I wear this over a base layer and it keeps me quite toasty without a lot of bulk. Layers nicely under heavier layers and/or a shell when you need cold/wind protection. Seems to be designed for a snug fit. I wear a size above my normal and am happy with the extra room.

I have two -- one in port, one in black. I want to wear this every day, it's that comfortable. Never seems to get too hot or cold. Just right, incredibly soft. Excellent cut/fit. I am 6'2 215 with long arms, and XXL fits beautifully. I have sweaters and other fleeces and somehow are not quite as good. Somedays I will pull this out of the hamper to wear instead of switching to my REI or other fleeces.

My boyfriend absolutely loves these pull over fleeces. I had previously bought him two of these jackets. Since he is going away to college, I went online to buy him another. Altrec had the best deals. They said it wasn't going to ship until July 10 but we had the jacket within 3 days. He loves this jacket because he doesn't like zippers. It's light and versatile, but he even layers them in winter. The brown, black and deep water blue are amazing. This jacket does not disappoint. They are one of the few things he makes sure not to lose, because he wears them so often. By far Altrec had the best selection, shipped fast, and had the lowest price. I definitely recommend this jacket.

First of all I would not call this garment a “jacket”; it’s a pullover or a shirt. This shirt is very comfortable, practical, feels like butter against the skin (better than cashmere) and, if that isn’t enough, looks good. One of my luckiest purchases on line, ‘cause, as anybody is aware, what looks okay on a monitor not necessarily is good enough in reality on your particular body. I’m 5’10”, 150 lb and a medium size fits just right. If you have pets (I’ve got a cat and a dog), this shirt is way better than polartec in resisting hair pick up. It’s not wind resistant, but quite warm – good for mild spring/fall weather and as a base layer in the cold days of winter.
I haven’t washed it yet, so I can’t testify about its washing machine durability, but it seems well made and sturdy.

A great jacket for just any outdoor activity. Works great both as a mid layer on a colder day or as an outer layer on a warmer day. Very comfortable material, perfect fit, nicely warm on a colder day but not hot on a warmer day. Absolutely love it!

Very comfortable fleece that is great for layering in the winter. I recently went on a backcountry ski touring trip at elevations from 9500 to almost 12,000 feet with a starting temperature of -8F. I had only a thin baselayer, the North Face TKA, and an outer shell. I was plenty warm. I would highly recommend it, especially at its price.

I just got this shirt this year, and it is amazing. It keeps me super warm, and its a great shirt to layer with for skiing becasue it's so thin. It lets some wind through, but as long as you have a shell its fine. Also, the shoulders are too wide, but it doesnt really matter
