Description

Soft, lightweight and simple, The North Face Men's TKA 100 Classic Trinity Alps 1/2 Zip is a great alternative to sweatshirts and sweaters on cool summer nights and is a warm middle layer in the winter. Made from lightweight polyester Polartec® Classic Microfleece, this long sleeve shirt is on the thin side and will not block the wind like a thicker fleece jacket will, but that just means you'll love it as a flexible, comfy performance layer on cool days in the spring and fall. Wear it over your wicking t-shirt on a winter run or under a winter jacket for some insulation on the slopes, it dries out quickly to keep you warm. The North Face TKA 100 Classic Trinity Alps 1/2 Zip fleece pullover for men has a chest pocket, zippers and pulls that add a pop of contrasting style when paired with jeans or ski pants.

purchased in august, so no opportunity to wear it, however, i have a crew neck of similar type bought last year and its been great. the arms are a bit long, but i like that style. i wish the body would not ride up quite so much when raising my arms. i always order a size up and that has worked for me. a great layering piece.

Nice shirt
March 13, 2011

I like the reinforced elbows, and the mp3 pocket. Heavy when wet. Fairly warm shirt, and looks good. The fit works for me, I have room for a couple of tees underneath the XL shirt.

Over 65 yrs

I love these, and use them all year around.
March 31, 2012

Last three years, I have been using three TNF TKA 100 Glacier pullovers all year around. This TKA 100 Classic Trinity Alps 1/2 Zip is my new upgrade for my 3 older TKA 100s I mentioned above. TKA 100 is a wonderful stuff. It keeps me cool when the weather is hot, and keeps me warm when it is cold. It is not too hot in cool summer days, either wearing over a T shirt or on bare skin. I have used them in fairly hot days in Alaska, Yukon, British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan ,Montana, Idaho and Washington, and although it may not look good, I was never uncomfortable. It gives decent UV protection at rate of UPF 30. In winter I use them under un-insulated TNF Summit Series parka and over Patagonia Capilene 3 long underwear. Wearing TKA 100 1/2 Zipz, last winter in South East Alaska, I never had to use my insulated jacket once. I love the new materials, not that I did not like the older materials used on Glacier. New materials used on Trinity Alps is definitely liter, warmer and more comfortable. According to TNF it provides 18% more warmth and 40% more thermal efficiency than old TKA 100, at 16% less weight, and that sounds about right. They also claim, it is 41% more breathable than old TKA 100, and provides comfort in all activities. It does dry fairly quickly and I do not feel very cold when it gets wet. Pill-resistant face and back? I will soon find out, but so far (I have been using first one for over three months) neither one of the two I own has shown any problem. My old TKA 100 Glacier 1/2 zips have never shown any pilling problem anywhere. I love the nylon protective covers on underside of arms which Glacier did not have. I also love Trinity Alps having the chest pocket which Glacier did not have, but the zipper starts too low and ends too low, making it a very shallow pocket. I have to remind myself to always keep it half zipped so nothing falls out. I think this problem would have been solved if TNF started the zipper at very top of the pocket, and ended 20-25% above the bottom.

Exactly what I wanted
March 15, 2011

I knew this 1/2 zip would be a little thin (does not provide much wind protection), but I wanted something to wear instead of sweaters and sweatshirts. This is exactly what I was looking for. It fits true to size and is extremely soft. Very affordable as well

Nice pullover
March 24, 2011

This fleece is definitely true to size, with arms that are definitely long enough. Honestly, I expected it to be a bit thicker, but it's still relatively warm. I like the small media pocket, but would like pockets on the bottom of the fleece. Breathable, no real wind protection, but wasn't expecting any.

Very good buy
March 01, 2012

I ordered it about a week ago and have been wearing it almost every day since i bought it. The fleece is extremely soft and comfortable; it is perfect for layering in with other clothes and such. I have two issues with it however, the fabric is a little thin and offers almost no wind protection whatsoever, and it is not very durable either. The wind protection issue can easily be solved by simply wearing a windproof jacket over it, but the build quality is not spectacular. I do like the fleece alot despite that. I can see myself using this fleece very frequently in the future.

Pros: Performance, Ease of use, Great value, Cons: Poor quality
