Jacket
Jacket is nice. One thing that I was a little upset about was that it said it was "fully Zip-in compatible with identically-sized fleece insulation pieces made by The North Face." Unfortunately this is a little deceiving. I tried to zip in my windwall fleece and the zipper teeth are different sizes. I think that they should have had a better interpretation of what would fit in it.

What's not to like?
The varius guide jacket is my new "go to" jacket for so many different weather conditions. First of all, it's an awesome shell by itself and extremely water and wind proof. I've worn it in several extreme cold downpours and remained totally dry. All zippers and pockets are very easy to maneuver. When worn with a liner (I use the Denali) it is plenty warm enough, almost too warm, although we've been having an unseasonably warm winter and most of the time I have just worn it without the liner. It's fairly easy to zip the liner in also. The jacket is true to size; I wear medium in almost any kind of jacket and medium fits just fine. I got a great deal from Altrec on this jacket and have not worn any other jacket since October. It is well worth the investment, in my opinion, to own a North Face and if you already have a Denali or other jacket to use as a liner, this is a real wise and logical purchase.

Good Jacket by far...
Good Jacket. So far, its living up to my expectation. It always keep me dry when its raining and it really provides me protection when it cold and windy. This is an ideal jacket for all season.
The jacket looks like heavy but once you wear it, it is actually light to wear. The material is thick and creates a crisp sounds every time you move but not much of an issue. The hood is decent since you can detach it anytime you want. It has a stylish design so you can use it everyday. If you want a TNF outer shell with zip-in compatible (especially if you have a Denali fleece), then I would recommend this for superb protection.
For the sizing, I bought a large since I wear L size shirts but the sizing might be larger than I expected. I'm a 5'5" 190lb guy medium built. I'm going to buy a medium version and return the large one.
Hope there's still left for me...

This jacket is great but on the really windy days you do need a insert. cause it blocks the wind with amazing results but without a liner of some sort the fabric just transmits the cold on to you anyway.

PERFECT!
The jacket is great. Great fit, and keeps you warm. The insulation isn't too bad, my only concern with the jacket was the actual zipper. After a couple of times wearing it though it broke in and works just fine.
Overall, the jacket fits extremely well and I recommend it to anyone.

The Northface jacket is a wonderfully made item that will last many years, absolutely love the waterproof of the jacket. This was bought for a gift, and unfortunately it seems to be made smaller than most. purchased a medium but need a large. will reorder.

Jacket is well made and I like the fit. I only gave it a 4 under quality because the zipper is hard to get started. Its seems like the zipper was sewn into the jacket without enough room to mate properly with the other side. May only be a problem with the one I got.

Great Jacket!
I bought this jacket to replace a 20 yr old Mountain Jacket. So far I am pleased with the product. You cant go wrong with The North Face.

Great Rain jacket with Zip in option
I've been looking for a rain/wind proof jacket for a while and this one is super. It fits my teenager son (tall and slender) perfectly. I purchased all of my North Face jackets through Altrec, and this is another great piece from North Face with an unbeatable price by Altrec!!

Great and Fit Jacket
I am 5'3 and 148 pounds. I bough the S Size. The sleeve is very suitable. This jacket can resist wind like a wall. You only need add inner sweaters if the weather is cold.

Great product for wet weather
I purchased this jacket as a shell for my Denali jacket. works well when zipped in together. Not a very thick shell so it probably won't be enough for real winter weather, temperatures below 20-30 degrees even with the Denali. The shell is great for repelling water as the first few days we had torrential rain in the North East. I would recommend this jacket as an every day jacket but keep in mind for those bitterly cold days you might want to invest in a warmer jacket.

Great Rain Jacket
The North Face Varius Jacket is a great rain jacket and layering jacket. Was looking for a shell for my Denali jacket and finally found the answer. Worked extremely well during a recent snowstorm. The jacket provide extra layering warmth and kept me dry. The jacket is very well made, looking at the seams, material, and added waist flaps - to ensure moisture is kept away. Excellent value - looking forward to many years of use.

Great Rain Jacket with Zip in Warmth Option.
This is a great jacket for California winter rain. When combined with a fleece liner I suspect it will be great for visits home to Wisconsin winter as well. The hood has great coverage for wet weather, but can block visibility above eye level if not situated just right. Numerous pockets inside and out to keep your essentials dry and hands warm. The hand pocket placement is higher than most jackets which is a plus in my book. If you need a cool weather rain jacket with ventilation I would check this one out.

Very good jacket w/ great build
I am very happy with the Varius jacket. First off, it looks great. I got it in the rusty red color. It has all the features that help me when up in snowy mountains such as the powder skirt, and the underam vents for when I am going up an incline. The pockets are all perfectly placed, and the lining on the side pockets make them a pleasure to use. The jacket keeps me warm, and the Hyvent material is quite durable. I have snagged large branches on it and even stuck myself with large branches when we were trying to get a jeep unstuck. Can't even tell anything touched the jacket. I recommend!!

Perfect All-Weather Jacket
No complaints - the jacket is lightweight and stops the wind. Better yet, it is waterproof and provides an excellent outer shell for other jackets (such as the Denali). It also has plenty of pockets, very convenient. Fully recommended!!

I Love This Jacket
I got it because I had a fleece that was able to be zipped into the jacket. I was back home in Northern California (Tahoe Area) it was snowing and i was surprised on how comfortable I was! Very great jacket on its own, for added warmth i would recommend getting a fleece that'll zip into the jacket.

Nice Jacket
Nice waterproof and windproof jacket. I'm 5' 7", 155 lbs. The small fit me perfectly. Sleeves were perfect length. The only problem that I have with this jacket is the hood. The hood is a little small so it doesn't completely protect my face from rain. Definitely a keeper though.

Great jacket, but check sizing
This jacket is perfect for my intended use (fall/winter cycling). It is a bit more snug than I expected (I might have been better off with the next size up), though I'm sticking with it. Paired with a fleece, it's very warm and very waterproof.

Great jacket overall
Great jacket overall, kept me dry during the winter. The only complaint I have is that the underarm zippers (on mine at least) constantly made themselves known. It always feels like something is rubbing or creeping up your underarms. I almost returned it for this alone, so you can tell I was highly annoyed. Overall though, I decided the benefits far outweighed the negatives. Five stars, but one star off for the bulky underarm zippers.

Great Jacket
I have enjoyed the jacket greatly. It is light yet very protective. Several pockets provide you great opportunity. Hood is very usable. I like altrec's fast service as well.

Great Jacket
For all time use. Comfortable, light weight and moveable. At first I didn't think it was going to be warm enough for the winter months, but it is. Just wish I could have gotten the Orange, but they were out of stock in the size needed.

Jacket seems just right for skiing in all weather conditions
Just received this jacket so haven't had a chance to test it out yet. But the Hyvent fabric, lining, and construction is exactly like my wife's NF jacket from 5+ years ago and it is still holding up well, easily shedding wet snow and rain. I'm expecting the same from my jacket. Number, size and location of pockets are great. I also like the ability to remove the hood. One minor critique is the rubber tab at the end of the adjustable velcro cuff which makes it stick out a bit.

Excellent Jacket
Warm and very water proof wear it with the Denali fleece. Pockets have soft fabric in them that helps to keep hands warm. Worth the price.

Great Jacket
This is a really great jacket. I have only had it a few weeks, but I am quite happy with the purchase. It is quite warm by itself but also works really great as a waterproof and windproof shell. I am currently using it with the TNF Aconcagua down jacket and and the combo has kept me quite warm in below zero wind chill conditions. It looks great too. Highly recommended. Service from Altrec was good as well. I would definitely buy from them again.

Perfect Jacket! Great Service!
I have had this jacket for a month. This has been a great waterproof and windproof jacket. Initially I received it in wrong color. I told Altrec about it, and they sent me the correct one overnight for free! I am definitely coming back to Altrec again.

Fantastic jacket
after buying this jacket for my self, I ended up up buying it for my whole family! It is such a great jacket for a great price. It does a superb job of blocking the wind even in the coldest of all weathers. I found that I only needed this jacket during the cold winter season. It is true that fleece would make you whole lot warmer but I found that even sweater was sufficient. I will definitely order from Altrec again!

great NF jacket
this guide jacket is a top of the line NF jacket. Its features make the jacket warm, windproof, waterproof, and stylish at the same time. Even without an extra fleece, the shell alone is quite warm, even in the winter. Great buy

cheap and warm
this is NF's cheapest shell and is still a durable and warm winter jacket. The zip in feature makes it versatile for any season and its a lightweight jacket ideal for sports.
