Light weight and packable. Have only worn in light shower but the rain bounced off like pellets! If it didn't bounce off, it beaded up and I would shake it all off. It did not make me feel clammy like others but the true test will coming in late summer at outdoor sports practices in the hot humid SW MO rain.

nice thin rain jacket, rolls up easily for carry. we took ours into disney on rainy days. the hood is better than a typical hood for keeping rain out since it conforms around the face and has a small bill.

The perfect rain jacket. Great hood, lightweight, and comfortable. Not only is it functional for an array of bad weather, it looks great on. I like it so much, I almost want it to rain more.

Great jacket but note that that jacket is mostly polyester and the apex aerobic fabric is only on the panels (the gray areas); hence the name hybrid. With that said, the mobility is of the jacket is excellent. The panels are on the front, back and sides give an adequate amount of stretch. I am 5'9" 160 lbs and the jacket fits me well. It's not too loose, but not tight enough where i couldn't wear a fleece under it.

I purchased this over a month ago and got the first chance to really test it out this weekend. It was rainy, windy and I had a lot of walking to do. It stood up to the test and kept me dry and surprisingly warmer than expected. This is not an insulated jacket but suits me just fine as I stay warm. Very nice construction, fitted hood and vented to let you breathe. Going to buy my wife one now as well.

I just purchased this jacket from Altrec. I picked the closeout Alder Brown color. I don't normally purchase anything brown, but the pricing was too good to pass up. I was surprised at how well the color won me over. It would look good on the trail and around town. I immediately got to tryout its ability to keep me dry and it excelled. Water beaded up like drops off a ducks back. Pit zips were helpful in regulating heat and you can hardly notice them visually when engaged. While I haven't used it for hiking or camping yet, this seems like a perfect stuffable jacket for those purposes. Some posters have said they don't like the white lining, but I kind of like the white inside lining. I'm guessing the reflective nature of the material, could help in a rescue situation? Velcro on the wrist offers a custom feel and the hood is expremely adjustable. This jacket layers well with light fleece for a super warm and wicking combination. I may use this jacket to ski in the near future and I'm looking forward to stuffing it with my camping / kayak gear this summer.

I use this shell in conjunction with a fleece vest & long-sleeved shirt, or as a proper waterproof shell when it's snowing or raining. The zipper is easily used when I have my gloves on; ditto for the velcro tabs. A fully functional shell!

Very light and performs well. The zipper is high enough to cover up to my nose when fully zipped and you can also adjust the hood for a better fit when it really pours. I definitely recommend this jacket for everyone who likes to be outside. You never know when a freak storm comes.

I work in a warehouse and when a northern hits the coast in Corpus Christi it gets cold going in and out of a building on a forklift. Only had to wear a lightweight fleece shirt and Tee shirt under the jacket. No wet clammy sweat either "breathes" and no bulk very easy to move in. The shape of the hood works great under a hardhat and keeps the rain out. Normally have to wear 2 or 3 layers of bulky clothes to keep semi warm. Have not tried to dance in it yet...LOL....

I like most everything about this jacket. Though I must agree with a former reviewer that it would be nicer if the lining color was not so starkly white.
What works for me is that 1) It is lightweight. Which makes it easy to carry and easy to pack. 2) It's 3/4 length. The coverage is just what I need. 3) Closures at sleeves and neck make it safe from rain and cold. 4) hood is adjustable 5) color I chose (rust) suits me 6) pockets are deep

The sizing was correct. the material performed as represented.
The best things about this jacket are:
1. It totally protects you against the rain.
2. It is completely breathable.
3. It is so lightweight, you can take it anywhere or pack it anywhere(even in it's own pocket...which I have yet to figure out how to do)!!!
4. It has so many pockets and compartments.
5. The velcro closure over the zipper is very practical.
I highly recommend this product and have even purchased another one in black.
This is a typical top quality North Face product.

Having searched for an 'affordable' Gore-Tex Paclite shell without success (no where near as affordable as these jackets) I did a little research on North Face HyVent material and decided that it was perfect for my needs. It really does pack down very well and is extremely light. Perfect for overseas travels. As for performance I have still not put it to a real test, but I have read numerous reviews on different sites and have hardly any doubts it will perform very well. I will post a follow up review once I have worn it out in the rain.

I bought this jacket at Macy's in New York (for considerably more than Altrec is charging for it) in the Filo Green, and since then have taken it on separate trips to Ireland, England, and Scotland. My father liked it so much he borrowed it on a recent trip to Australia for a month. It has served me fantastically on all three trips I took. It's extremely light and it packs nicely into the pocket (and the little bundle it makes can be squished even tighter). I have no complaints about it keeping me dry. When they say the hood is fully adjustable, they mean it; I have no trouble sizing it so that the hood keeps water out of my face, but does not restrict my vision. There is a built in semi-rigid "bill" along the top edge of the hood that really helps in this regard. The "pit vents" under the arms are fine. I've used them a few times when it was rainy yet quite warm, but most of the time I just don't notice they're there. One thing I love in particular about this jacket are the adjustable cuffs. I am very picky about my cuffs, and I don't like most elastic cuffs as they feel too restrictive for me. This jacket includes a long strip of velcro that lets you size the cuffs exactly to your comfort without any uncomfortable squeezing that you would get with elastic. The jacket is fitted so that you can easily layer up underneath it, but it won't be too loose and baggy if you're just wearing a t-shirt. All in all a terrific value, and recommended to anyone.

The jacket is lightweight, fits good looks great. Mesh pockets look like they can be used from inside the jacket but they are not sewn on the bottom back side so what ever you put in will fall out. Could have been a versatile feature. Pull cords around the waist are good to keep drafts out, but kept getting caught on the brush during a winter hike, just remember to tuck them in and your good to go.

Bought this jacket a few weeks ago. So far, I'm very pleased with it. I am 6'1" 185 and I bought the large black. It fits me well. I like that it is lightweight and has pitzips. If you are wanting to use it as a winter shell, I would suggest getting a bigger size to fit a fleece underneath. It's easy to store and looks good too.

This is a really nice jacket, it will keep you dry. I have a NF Mountain Light but I find myself using this more. I keep it in my car or backpack. I did not find it noisy. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a really nice light weight all around rain jacket. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is I find the under arms a little tight but then I have that problem in most coats. I was a little hesitant to buy at first because I have several other NF jackets but am glad I did.

This is a overall great jacket especially for the Altrec sale price. It fits extremely well, little on the shorter side but not by much (I'm picky.)This isn't a jacket you can stand out in the rain with but its good for keeping you dry under light to moderate conditions. Anything really bad Id probably throw on a poncho otherwise you'll get wet. Good protection from the wind. Light and transportable. Very Happy!
