the north face venture pant
November 10, 2008

Here in the Northeast,we have had a wet cold climbing season thus far. The men's North Face Venture pant and a light weight baselayer was all that was needed to ward off the cold rainy weather we have had at the Gunks. I could not have chose a better pant for the job. The only gripe I have is that the knees need a little more reinforcing. Climbing rock requires that your pants be durable. After twenty pitches the knees are starting to show some wear, but overall these pants are great. They rival any GoreTex pant for waterproofness I have in my arsenal. Thanks Altrec and thanks to The North Face for a fantastic product at the best price found anywhere.

Great rain paints!
March 30, 2010

I'm a little over 6 ft and 200lbs - these North Face pants fit great. One thing I like is that the length is where I can leave the leg straight and let the rain run down hardly touching my shoe. I can also use the hook'n loop strap to pull the leg tight around my ankle therefore avoiding catching the pant leg as I walk. They fit fine over my walking shorts and kept me dry - both from the rain and the normal body moisture which was wicked away. They fold/roll small enough to fit in my pack and don't even notice the weight.

love the pants
November 24, 2012

I bought the pants for my son in college for rain. He loves the fit and style. I wasn't sure of size since he is tall and long legged but thin. But, he wanted them to go over his jeans so went up a size. He loves them

Good one ..

Great fit and excellent construction all around. Folds up into a tiny package just as advertised, all in all a good deal. The North Face comes across again with a fine product and Altrec has it at a great price.

It Fits Those Long Legs
April 03, 2011

I have a son with a 33 inch waist who is 6'4". Most sites carry rain gear for BIG and Tall men... It was wonderful to find a product that came in for a size that I could select the waist and then select Regular or Tall... Wonderful!!!!!

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use, Great value, thin and tall, cost, Cons: little noisy but not bad.

Work well

A great alternative to fleece pants. They are wind and water proof and very light weight. I just retunred from a trip where the temprature hit 20 degrees and wore the pants over running tights. They kept me warm and dry.

I ride my bike to work. On rainy days, I wear these pants over my work pants so I show up to work clean, dry, and ready to deal with the people I work with...

great thing for outdoor activities: hiking, cycling or any kind of wintersports, you can use them for 4 seasons, these pants will protect you from wind, rain and even snow, but these pants are very thin so don't forget to wear warm liners under them for winter actvities. BUY THEM, you wont find better product for this price!!!

good buy!
June 06, 2011

When I bought these pants I was looking for a light weight, waterproof pant that packs small, and that's exactly what I got. I bought the pants just in time for a month long trekking trip in the Himalayas, and at lower elevation, afternoon thunderstorms happened every day. The pants work great alone, and are also roomy enough to fit over my regular hiking pants. The only thing that could improve them is a strap that goes under your boot to keep them pulled down over your boot. This would keep water from running from the pant into your boots. I'm thinking of adding a strap like this myself. Good product for the price!

Pros: Build quality, Performance, Great value, light weight

Venture pants
April 27, 2011

These pants are amazingly light-weight. I like that they come in a 30" inseam. Hopefully the weight isn't too much of a trade-off for durability. These will be perfect for backpacking in spring and summer. The elastic around the ankles is nice while riding a bicycle in the rain. The only things I don't like is how the elastic waist band puffs up the material in the front and sides and the lack of a fly. I like these better than my Freedom pants because they are much lighter and more suited for hiking through thick brush and riding a bike in the rain.

Pros: Performance, Ease of use, Great value, pockets, Cons: no fly

Lacks an inner liner
May 21, 2009

Not a bad running pant but they lack an inner mesh liner. With that they would be great.

Great Pants - Light and keeps the water out
March 24, 2008

I have now used these in a variety of settings both cold and warm and they have performed well. In rain the water was kept out very well.

So far, so good. I'm 6'0, 150, and the mediums fit very well. The fit on the Venture pants is slightly bigger than the Marmot Precip pants, which I also tried. I bought these primarily for golf, for use on rainy days. I have played a number of times with these already, and, even with some very heavy and prolonged rains, these pants have kept me completely dry. They are lightweight, windproof, and are working just as advertised. I'm very pleased with my purchase!
