Great Rain Pants
May 18, 2010

They fit well and are perfect to carry in my backpack for day hikes. The full zipper makes them easy to get on and off without removing my boots.

fantastic
October 31, 2007

excellent value. comfortable pant that hasn't let me down from skiing on slushy days to heavy downpours. Full side zips allow you to get them off without removing your boots, also allow for some air flow when it's warm and raining.

Super pants!
November 06, 2007

These are some of the lightest rainpants I've ever owned. Easily packable in a day pack or even in a large pocket. They fold inside-out and zip up through the side pocket to make a compact package. I never thought it would be possible, but they actually pack to about 7" x 4" size (and about an inch thick)!

Great Feel!
January 27, 2010

Nice light pair of pants, extremely rain resistant, better than I thought!

Not bad
July 28, 2009

Good value, comfortable, light weight, the full side zips are a great convenience. The only negative I have to say about these pants is that they are missing a waist cord and therefore they keep sliding down.

outstanding !

a must have for the outback enthusiast ! a necessary piece of equipment for my hikes up to Tuckerman Ravine on Mount Washington, which has some of the most unpredictable weather in the world. period.

Great

Definitely keeps me dry in all types of weather

Great fit, very comfortable
May 03, 2007

It's been a long time since I had a pair of rain pants that fit me this well. No riding up and very comfortable. I only wish they were a little quieter when hiking. When you're in the middle of nowhere, it would be nice not to hear the crackle and whooshing, but then again, they are new so once I have worn them a few more times, maybe they will quiet down.

Great for the rain and snow
January 27, 2010

I love these pants. The full length side zippers make it easy to take the pants on/off without removing boots. These pants are very durable, Ive worn them in heavy rain and the snow and they keep me completely dry. I wore them over jeans in the rain, and over fleece pants in the snow. These pants are awesome. They are made really well with quality materials. They are well worth the money.

great rain pant

Great Solution
January 14, 2011

We live in New York City and have to walk to the gym. Because my husband doesn't like wearing sweatpants or any kind of gym pant, he walks to the gym in his gym shorts in the freezing cold (winter). I ordered these so that he could zip them off and roll them into the side pocket without having to use the locker room or a locker to lock them (he could stick them in the water slot on the treadmill. These pants are great. They were a bit on the big side, but they are very functional.

Initial Review
October 23, 2010

Bought these pants for winter biking in cold/wet conditions over another layer. They fit great over tights. Although I have not used them in very cold or wet conditions so far, I tried them on a moderate day with no under layer. They were warmer than expected alone. For pants with no typical liner they slid across the skin very well. The worst thing I could say about them is only that the waist adjustment relies on velcro and doesn't allow large changes without folding. I look forward to using them more and they may make it easier to ride later into the winter.

Pros: Great design, Performance, Ease of use, Great value

Good choice for outdoor activity
January 13, 2013

This pants is 100% fit my need. Good quality light to carry and can fold to small one. Its excellent anti water and wind ability makes me satisfied. Good for all season use. You can wear it in cold weather like in winter of ND. Just need another under layer then you will be good. Cause wind chill will kill you. So pretty happy with the result of this item. Recommend to you!

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Great value

Great Pant!
August 13, 2005

I climbed Mt. Sajama in Bolivia using these pants and they worked great. They blocked all the wind the mountain could throw at me and kept my legs nice and warm. I'm going to buy another pair right now.

would prefer them to be lighter weight

Great for travellers
August 03, 2011

I am 6ft tall with a 36" waist and these are a very comfortable fit, even over a pair of shorts. I got them to go with the jacket of the same brand and design as I had already discovered that it held up to heavy monsoon rains. I have only worn the pants once so far but for a long day of hard outdoor work and there are no signs of any wear and tear. For fabric this light and comfortable I feared at least a seam giving way but the construction and quality appear to be of high quality. I would definitly recommend them. The side zip is a feature I particularly like as it made them even easier to put on and take off.

Does the job
May 02, 2011

Brought it along a for a 3 day mountaineering trip to serve as waterproof shell. Did real well for that purpose. Glissade on it a bunch of times in wet snow and stayed bone dry. Packs ok, not super compact. Material seems durable enough for it's intended purpose....rain pants. Good fit. I'm 5'10", 156 and 31 waist. Got a small. Fit's over a medium weight softshell pants with room to move. Cuff is roomy and might be big enough to cover ski boots. Not too long either which is nice since full zip tends to bunch up.

Best Waterproof Pants Ever!
June 02, 2011

These North Face Full Side Zip Venture Pants are the best waterproof pants I have ever bought, over a lifetime of buying outdoor gear of all brands. These pants provide top-notch protection from downpours, while also being very light, extremely breathable, wonderfully comfortable, and supremely durable. I would recommend these pants to anyone (male or female) who loves the outdoors in any and all conditions. They also provide great protection from the wind, as well.

Be clear what season you need them for
December 05, 2010

I am 5'10" and weigh 150lbs. I purchased a size M. The pants were a bit large. I took them on a 4 day trip around the Grand Canyon during Thanksgiving 2010. It was pretty cold. In the 20s F (around -5 Celsius) not accounting for the wind factor. Under these pants I had the Smartwool Microweight Bottoms. There were quite a few moments that I felt cold even though these pants do stop the wind completely. The problem is the material they are made of gets cold and then transmits the cold to your body. The pants miss a waist cord. They have this velcro-based system on the sides but I did not find it to be as useful as a waist cord. Same velcro is used at the bottom of the pants and it does not allow you to tighten the pants too much around your ankle. When walking, the pants make a constant sound. It is comparable to the sound you would get from heavy winter pants with one leg brushing against the other. As another reviewer mentioned, this can disturb the quietness you come to appreciate in some places you visit. I like the side zippers. You have two, one coming from the waist, one from the bottom. One you unzip velcro is used to keep the pants in place. Overall, they would probably make a good pant for spring/summer/autumn. However, in cold temperatures you may want to consider another pant even if you plan to wear under layer under them. They are also very light.

Pros: Build quality, side zippers, lightweight, windproof, Cons: no waist cord, makes noise, they can get quite cold

Great packable, breathable rain pants
May 27, 2007

Breathable, stays waterproof in pouring rain, big plus points for metal-tooth zippers that won't break off teeth like the plastic zippers used by the competition. Packs down small but a little tough to stuff into the side pocket (this could be a little bigger). Perform great in Florida where heavy rain and high humidity are big issues.

Great pant for heavy rain!
May 14, 2010

I recently hiked the AT through the Smokies and was caught in that terrible rain that flooded Knoxville. I pulled out NF rain pants and continued on my hike. They worked perfectly! Very comfortable and no chaffing after several miles. I have short legs so I had to turn the waist several times to get the proper fit though.

I found these rain pants to be well constructed and were easily to fit over other clothing. The pant legs sip all the way uo and these were easy to roll up and stow in a small area. I use them for protection when riding by motorcycle in wet and cold conditions.

great pants
September 05, 2011

These pants live up to The North Face reputation. The fit is excellent and they work well. I recently used them in the near horizontal rain from hurricaine Irene, and they kept me dry. I have a similar pair of snow pants from The North Face and these are similar. The side zippers allow easy application over heavy rain boots.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use

Everything You Need
August 26, 2010

Very lightweight and does the trick. Tested them out in a brutal rainstorm and not a drop of water gets in. Will see how they hold up over time but so far so good!

Lightweight, great value, zips work great. Normally have to use bulky layers of clothing when a northern hits the gulf coast in Corpus Christi. I work in a warehouse and constantly going in and out a building. This time all i needed was my Venture Pants and a pair of jeans under them. I never got sweaty nor were hard to move in. At the end of the day the side zippers came very handy in taking them off.
