Description

Your quiver of skis might include powder skis, hardpack carving skis, all-mountain mid-wide skis and backcountry twin-tips, but thankfully you only need one jacket for every day of ski season: The North Face Men's Vortex Triclimate Jacket. It's a durable, waterproof and breathable shell jacket with a zip-out insulating liner that you can wear alone on the bluebird powder days. Between all three configurations, you have enough weather protection options to ski, trek or snowboard right into the sun drenched jeans-and-tee days of late spring and summer. The North Face Men's Vortex Triclimate Jacket is loaded with many of the same features found on expensive ski jackets and alpine outerwear, but the price remains affordable and the exterior styling is classic and traditional--not spendy-trendy. Internal features include a goggle pocket, media security pocket (for phone, two-way radio or music player) and an adjustable hem with Pant-a-locks to connect your ski pants to your jacket for optimal spindrift protection. On the outside you'll find core zip-vents for cooling, a wrist accessory pocket with goggle cloth, and a removable hood. If you wear the insulating liner as a jacket, you'll find that it has fewer pockets and features than the outer jacket shell, although the enhanced articulation through the elbows will appeal to any skier who pounds moguls or spends most of their time doing tricks on twin-tips in the terrain park.

Excellent Quality
February 07, 2013

I am thoroughly pleased with this jacket, it has kept me warm on the slopes all winter! I stay dry inside even on east coast ski conditions, and the jacket is light. You would be pleased with just about any North Face product, but I am especially in love with this one.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance

Nort Face Vortex Triclimate
December 21, 2009

I'd first like to thank the fast easy ordering process as well as the polite customer service person who helped me. Next the vortex is an excellent pick for those who live in a cold windy climate as I do. I knew about the quality of North Face and I was explained over the phone how this jacket would suit my needs and they were spot on. Its all I need for the harsh environment I live in. Thanks

Sweet Purchase
December 27, 2009

This jacket is awesome, but I must admit the red color is really red once you get to see it in person. It certainly is reminiscent of the Ski Patrol but I love it regardless. We had a recent blizzard and it definitely performs above and beyond what I expected. I've never had such a warm jacket and in just regular chilly weather you really only need the inner liner or the shell. In super cold temperatures the whole shebang would definitely keep you toasty.

nice one

i got vortex jacket from altrec..its really nice jacket..the inner one is insulated so no need of wearing even outer one in regular chilly weather..very good purchase..and delivery is also fast by altrec

Really solid, all-around Jacket
April 20, 2012

This jacket is really versatile...great for skiing or just for daily use if you live somewhere that has cold winters. It isn't bulky at all (which was the problem with my former ski jacket) but it doesn't sacrifice any warmth despite being a little sleeker. I skied one day this year when it was 5 degrees and windy and I was fine. Lots of pockets, a really solid hood and the liner is high quality and can be worn on its own. I am 5'10'' and 160lb...I originally got the large but exchanged it for the medium which was a perfect fit.

Triclimate
January 29, 2013

I ordered the jacket with great anticipation. When i received it I was more than satisfied. The fit was perfect. Exceeding my expectations. The arm length was great! I tend to have broad shoulders and it lay nicely across my back. I liked the bungee cord hood for added comfort. It's just right for this unpredictable weather we are having here in NY. I am sure to enjoy it for seasons to come

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Great value

Great jacket
December 09, 2011

The Service is great, the employees are very willing to help out. Jacket is very nice, I got one for my boyfriend for Christmas and he LOVES it! North Face is a great brand for tall guys- he's 6'3'' and thin and a large fits great- even the sleeves are long enough! The fleece is great by itself or the shell is nice as a rain jacket but he's wearing both layers together now that it's so cold. Great buy!!

North Face does it again!
January 26, 2011

I love this Jacket or should I say jacket(S) seems very well built and comfy can't wait to try it on the slopes tonight. It has lots of pockets and even comes with a sunglass shammy in the pocket on the arm. For being two jackets in one it's less bulky then any others I have tried Hellihanson, columbia etc. The zip out jacket looks perfect for the Sunny spring days of riding/skiing. Only thing I didn't like is NOrth Face says it's waterproof but has no rating? 12,000mm 20,000mm ? I haven't trying with a fullday in wetcoast snow but for a few mins in the rain it beaded well.

GOOD COAT!
January 26, 2007

This has proven to be a good winter coat here in Kansas. It's very warm on days when the temperature is below 40 degrees. When the temperature is above 40 degrees I usually switch to my North Face Denali fleece. The lining is very soft and comfortable and it zips out easily. On warmer days I unzip the lining and just wear the shell around. I've owned this jacket for 2 months now and I've been very pleased with it.

worth it
November 04, 2010

The jacket is heavy and extremely warm, but is not puffy. I wore it sitting in the stands of an NFL game and was warm and comfortable the entire time. It fit true to size and the gray is great because people you are with cannot tell if its dirty or not. Have not yet tested it in heavy rain but it lighter rain i remained perfectly dry.

Worth the price
February 25, 2008

Bought this jacket for a ski trip to NH. I had a good base layer. It was -3 on the top and I was warm and toasty. Plenty of pockets and the hood is great for the long rides on the ski lift to get out of the wind.

First Time N.F. purchase / Columbia Ethusiast
October 07, 2012

I bought winter coats for my sons, 16 and 11 year old respectively, to replace their Columbia coats they had out grown. I must admit, that I was hesitant about these purchases b/c it was an issue of style versus substance and utility. I noticed that everyone wears North Face products b/c they are popular but my question was were they warm and of high quality? My questions were answered when I experienced the quality first hand with the Men's Vortex Triclimate jacket for my son. It was lightweight but, well insulated with many pockets that also included a hood. The hood was not flimsy but, was insulated and well made. I was very impressed to say the least and for the price, it was well worth it. The next purchases will be for my wife and I.

I was interested in this Ski Jacket for the shell. The liner that comes with it is very good. But I wanted to make the shell warmer for my needs. Thats done by using TNF Nuptse Down Jacket that can zip right in. I also have TNF Nuptse Vest that I can use also. I like to use the arm anchor points but zip the liner and shell independently. The TNF Vortex is a versitile item to have on its own, If one owns other TNF items that can zip in the jacket, It is even better, Also the look and fit are perfect.

Excellent Quality Jacket
December 25, 2011

This is an excellent jacket with many details. It is durable but not bulky. My only problem is that it does seem to run a bit big. I have other north face jackets and the large was just too big on me. I am unsure if a medium might fit so I might just stick with the large. Overall I am pleased with my purchase and would recommend.

Great jacket
February 26, 2012

This jacket is really worth the price. I've tried on many different jackets from North Face, Marmot, Burton, etc and I have to say this one fits very well for my build. I'm 6 foot 185 pounds and it fits loosely but not too loose (good for layering). I bought the black and red colored jacket and I've received a lot of compliments on it. I'm heading off to Park City Utah soon. I'm sure this jacket will hold up to the weather.

condor vs. vortex
February 01, 2011

Condor triclimate is perfect but vortex is a bit warmer enough for a 20┬░blizzard storm here in NY. My son love it! Its really pricey but it will last him a good 5 yrs at least.instead of buying him every single year.

Excellent rain and snowboarding jacket
February 24, 2009

I've used it many times for both rainy SF days, and recently for snowboarding. It was excellent in both situations, and I always stayed warm and dry. The inner synthetic down jacket can be worn on it's own most days, and is very stylish, windproof, and water resistant.

LOVE THIS JACKET
March 12, 2012

I love this jacket - it does it all and what a great price!!! You're basically getting two jackets for the price of one. I bought it for skiing and was able to use the shell only on a sunny day and then the jacket (no liner) on a snow day - both worked AWESOME. The quality seems very good - bullet / water proof. Lots of great options on the jackets. I would highly recommend.

Excellent Triclimate TNF
February 28, 2012

This is a great coat. It's lighter than another triclimate that I have, but will keep you nice and warm up into the low 20s. The fit is true and love all the pockets. Again thanks to Altrec for their insanely fast delivery.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use, Great value, Lasts forever, Performance

A good long term investment!
April 10, 2007

After a couple of weeks skiing this is THE jacket - Chamonix, France = wind and rain, very wet - the jacket bore all resistance to extreme conditions. Verbier, Switzerland = bright crisp sun, spring conditions - too hot with both layers, but outer on its own was fantastic. Great versatile jacket in extremes of conditions - highly recommended! Materials and construction quality very good also.

The best Jacket
November 13, 2012

I was looking for a jacket that perfectly fits my body and after trying a lot of them in different stores I came up with this one in the website. This jacket is a very comfortable jacket with very high quality. When wearing this jacket with the included insert it is extremely warm, and the underarm vents provide additional comfort. I like it very much.

Nice jacket
January 14, 2011

I purchased this jacket for my husband for Christmas, and he absolutely LOVES it. It has a removable liner (which is actually not that attractive if worn alone - in red) and it's very light weight. The shell is a great color (red) and he loves the fact that it is warm enough for skiing in the cold. He is usually a large, but they seem to run larger than an average large. If he were to have gotten a medium, it would have been too short.

Great triclimate jacket
December 26, 2011

My ski trip isn't until next week but I've already started wearing the inside jacket outside in Texas since it's not too cold nor too hot outside (high 30s low 40s). It's very comfortable to wear and I can directly tell that it's very durable. An abundant amount of pockets both interior and exterior. Only thing is, my arms are a little shorter than normal so a medium fits my waist, shoulders, and upper body but my arms are a little too short for the medium. I'm okay though since running a little big on the jacket won't be bad for the ski trip. I'd rather have that than be uncomfortable in a smaller jacket.

Waterproof Heater
May 31, 2012

The Northface Vortex jacket is typical of Northface quality - the materials and workmanship are excellent. The jacket itself is highly wind- and water-proof, which was handy in the higher-altitude skiing we did in Austria (Heiligenblut). It also provides good insulation for those days when it is warm enough to go without the liner. The liner is amazingly warm - almost too warm at times (e.g. when pounding through moguls, for example), but did not feel damp. The only negatives are: (1) at least one of the internal pockets becomes inaccessible when the liner is zipped-in. The solution is to not zip in the liner - it is quite wearable by itself; and (2) the Velcro wrist closures are pretty aggressive and started chewing on my glove sleeves - oh well, the better seal is worth it.

A well tought out technical jacket
October 28, 2012

My jacket came on time and well protected in a box. The fit is perfect although the sleeves are a bit long but the velcro adjustment on the wrist takes care of that. The quality is from a high level, no wires hanging out nothing to cut away. I only have used the jacket twice now, once with serious rain where the jacket kept me bone dry and as just as this morning with 32 degrees outsite and just a T shirt under it, it kept me warm. I specially love the hood, at first it took me a while to understand exectly how the different adjustments worked but once set (without helmet) it fits perfectly and with full unobstructed vision, nice feature. The snow skirt closes with 2 snap in buttons, the inside of the elastic band is featured with anti slip rubber so it will not creep up. I am looking forward to the snow.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Great value

Well designed jacket
December 26, 2009

I really like this jacket. It is a streamlined, thin jacket that is great for skiing or any outdoor activity. I really like the pockets and the way the drawstrings work.

Excellent Jacket with good warmth
December 26, 2009

I have enjoyed wearing this jacket out the last couple days to shovel snow. It keeps me warm and my wife thinks it looks great.
