I bought this for my fiance and he now lives in it! The quality and style of North Face goes without question, but Altrec offered this jacket for so much less than anyone eles and shipped it quickly!

Wind jacket
this jacket is great at blocking the wind, and it's fairly warm because of the fleece material. However, the material is kind of stiff and awkward, it's basically super super thick fleece, therefore it blocks the wind and is still fairly warm! I ordered it for my dad for christmas as I have the women's version that I like. He likes it as well.

Men's Windwall 1 Jacket
Really great jacket for the money. Have a 13 yr old son who needed something warm that would fit in his locker. He stays warm in NW Indiana at the bus stop, and can fit the coat easily in his locker and backpack.

back to basics
What a great basic jacket! With four men in my family this is a jacket that they all enjoy. My youngest son is wearing one of these jackets his older brothers have outgrown and it still looks great. In a time when most things don't last (especially when active boys have worn them) it's nice to find a product that can go the distance.

Great fleece jacket!
I bought this jacket for a friend and he absolutely loves it! We live in Seattle where temperatures are generally moderate and it will be great for fall, most of winter, and spring. He claims it is great against the wind (something many other fleece jackets can't claim) and says it keeps him at just the right temp. He normally is a size medium (5'8" and trim) and the medium in this fits perfectly. Will also be great with a shell over it on rainy days. Highly recommend!

Best fleece around
The Windwall I has a clean, minimalist cut. It's warm, blocks some wind, and fits nicely. Between my son and me we've purchased 5 Windwall I's - four after the Windwall II came out. We hope Northface keeps bringing it back.

Great Jacket! Fleece is very tight unlike cheaper fleece jackets which makes this one windproof. Very comfortable fit. Nice for cold windy weather. Also works great as a mid layer.

Really good, Warm and really stops the wind
I have used this jacket at 40ºF and I didn't feel cold at all, very warm, In general I use a base layer and a shirt and at that temperature I feel very well.
Regarding the "Windwall" property it does its job perfectly well, it is really similar to the windstopper fabric, I have a windstopper jacket and it seems to be the same, which is good, but warmer than my windstopper jacket, well, obviously if you want something lightweight I recommend a windstopper jacket but that's colder (not so cold but colder than this jacket)
In general if you want to wear clothes not so technical, for the city in cold days I highly recommend this jacket. Now if you want something more technical, for the mountain, lightweight and you are planning to use a third layer like a gore-tex jacket I recommend windstopper because you can take off your 3rd layer and only use a lightweight jacket and you will save a lot of weight.
In general this jacket is really beautiful and I don't like the idea of using this for expeditions, in that case I prefer other kind of jacket, that is only my opinion, it is up to you to decide.

Great-looking, super-soft, very functional jacket
I bought this jacket for my husband because I thought it was so handsome. I was pleasantly surprised to find that this jacket is also exceptionally functional. My husband says that it blocks even the strongest winds, and it keeps him toasty warm during our chilly mornings and evenings in northwest Wyoming. This jacket is great for outdoor sports/activities, but it looks wonderful with pants/jeans and a long-sleeved dress shirt, for an evening on the town, as well. I also confess that I "borrow" this jacket whenever my husband isn't looking! I would recommend this awesome jacket to anyone.

best jacket
Perfect windstopper, yet lightweight. Comfortable, does the job
and looks good doing it. Great for walking around campus, around the city, and at the ballpark.

better than a micro fleece
The jacket runs a bit large. I usually wear mediums but a small was the correct size, albeit a bit snug. The exterior is a hardened fleece not a sheer wind-proof layer. Provides much better wind protection than an average micro fleece but is a bit bulkier.

Excellent Fleece
Although this fleece has virtually no bulk- it is extremely warm due to it's windblocking capabilities. People don't realise that it's mostly the wind that gets you- not with this fleece though!! Excellent product from an excellent company. I would highly recommend it.

great layer jacket
i like the protection it gives (when i put it under my apex jacket) i haven't used it alone because it won't protect in this weather, but anyway that is why i bought it so i'm enjoying it.
the flexibility of these jackets are amazing (windwall & apex).

Very nice jacket
This jacket was a great fit and the quality along with it was also great. I was so excited when it first came in and decided to put it to the test. The wind protection on this jacket is great. The jacket keeps you fairly warm, but it would probably be best to layer in colder weather.

Bought this jacket for my boyfriend, and he loves it! He bought me the Denali jacket for my birthday a few months back, and ever since then he's been hinting that he wanted a North Face. He couldn't be happier with this style! We live in Arkansas, so it'll probably never be used in super cold weather but it does good against wind and cooler weather!

Quality, warmth, fit were all great. The fit was true to size. The fabric is soft and warm yet not bulky. My only complaint was the color. I ordered black but it seemed more of a charcoal grey to me. Despite color it is a definite keeper!

Gift for Fiance'
I bought this jacket for my fiance two years ago and it still looks great! And trust me, he wears it all the time. We live in New Orleans so it's not terribly cold here but when it gets cold and the wind is kicking, it definitely does the job. He said it's very comfortable and wanted another one so that was an easy Christmas idea. The fit is very true to size (6 foot, 170)....he's tall and slim and the large fits perfect. I bought the new taupe color and it's very pretty...but still perfect for a male. Not too heavy but not too thin and the zip pockets were a plus. Highly recommend this jacket.

Great car coat
My husband visits his employees on the job site frequently. He is in and out of the truck all day. This jacket was perfect for the constant temperature changes. He doesn't want to sweat while driving and then freeze when he exits the vehicle. This jacket works well with this. I chose the dark blue to hide stains from the chemicals he mixes in his lab. He likes the comfort,ease and fit of this jacket.

Soft, stylish, runs large
I opted to return this item because it ran rather large in the shoulders. I was going to just get a smaller size because there is nothing wrong with the product, but then decided to get the Mountain Hardware version instead because that one was so well reviewed and seems to be designed to provide better wind protection. This would be great jacket for layering, I think. The blue color is a little dull in person, but the heather grey was very nice in both the photo and in the store.

Great for morning bike ride
I bought this for my 13 year old son who rides his bike or walks to school. We live in Houston and this morning it was 35 degrees. That's cold to us! My son says this keeps the wind out and keeps him warm. It's also thin enough that it will fit in his small locker.

Excellant Jacket-Don't Miss This One
This is the second Windwall I have purchased. The first was for my wife. She loved it. Good for Florida chills, and hopping around the globe, which we do. Durable, light weight, warm, good quality for every dollar you spend. It feels good, looks great, and last the miles.
A short note on my background: I spent 21 years in the Marine Corps as an Infantryman, and have been around the world several times to include the Arctic and Antarctic circles. I know good and bad gear. This one is a keeper.

Perfect Jacket!
I got this jacket for my dad before a family cruise to Alaska. He absolutely LOVES it!!! It was the perfect thing to keep him warm and dry on the deck and hiking through the national parks. It fits very true to size and is a wonderful lightweight but warm jacket!

Well Made but Slimmer Fitting
This is a typically good, well made jacket one expects from the folks at The North Face. I appreciate the "true sizing" which means I can wear a medium in all their products. Sleeve length was perfect: about 34". In the last year or two mens clothing designers have gone back to a more trim fit for shirts and jackets. The North Face seems to be following the trend. This jacket is fairly trim through the torso; it certainly is not form-fitting but don't plan to wear anything underneath other than a turtleneck or lightweight shirt. This was my second purchase from Altrec and I've been very satisfied with both experiences.

Lightweight and comfortable
The fleece jacket is nice, but not your normal fleece jacket. The inside is more polyester like to cut out the wind resistance. After you wear the jacket a couple of times, it feels like any other fleece jacket, but better. The jacket is true to size and not bigger fitting like the denali. This jacket offers great value for the money.

Fits perfect
I have tried a bunch of fleece jackets but this one seems more 'fitted' (better designed?) than the other ones. Very comfortable and the wind resistance is nice. Altrec seemed to have a good price compared to other places.

Perfect Gift, Great Quality
I bought this for my husband for his birthday. He had mentioned that he wanted a versatile fall/spring jacket. I currently own a women's windwall jacket, and I love it. My husband already likes his jacket as much as I like mine. I would recommend that if you are between sizes to go with the larger size than the smaller. They tend to fit snug, so if you want to put a sweater or thick shirt underneath, it is best to have a little extra space.

Perfect Active Fall Jacket
I purchased this jacket for my husband, to replace a 5 year-old North Face fleece that he refused to take off, but was certainly showing its age! He started wearing the Windwall right away and has not stopped wearing it since it arrived. He loves the warmth it provides without bulk. Awesome jacket
This jacket looks and fits great. It is almost totally windproof which will be great on those blustery winter days. I am 5' 6", 135 lbs and the Men's small fits perfectly. As with almost all TNF clothes, I find the sleeves to be about 1" too long, but it is no big deal. I would definitely recommend anyone to buy this jacket.

One of My Favorites
The Windwall is one of my favorite jackets due to its great versatility. I wear it as an underlayer when the weather is particularly bad but it is also a great outer jacket when you need a bit of wind and light moisture protection. I find it particularly great for cooler evening at the beach. This product is a winner!
