This vest is wonderful!! It is true to size and looks great! The fleece is very warm but does not allow you to overheat. I would highly recomend this product to anyone looking for a fleece vest.

I bought this vest in 2010 on the strength of others' reviews and I have not been disappointed. I will not buy anything but wind blocking fleece outwear again. The payoff is much greater warmth for virtually no weight penalty. So long as you can bear the added cost. Worth it in my book. My next purchase will be a similarly constructed jacket.

Top Quality, warm, perfect for my needs

I was looking for a vest for everyday use here in the Northeast. This one is perfect--on really cold days, throw it on over a heavy shirt; on cool days, over a light shirt/pullover. I love the soft feel of the fabric, and when I zip it all the way up it doesn't bother my chin like other North Face jackets I have. Pockets are perfect, the fit is great, I'm 5'10" tall, 180 lbs, 36" waist and the vest hits me perfectly at the hip.. I couldn't have made a better choice, and Altrec delivered it quickly! Good company, nice people.

I bought this vest in black and am truly happy with it. I've been using it down almost every day as a pe teacher and it has held up very well, is warm, and looks professional in addition to being very comfortable.

The windstopping vest I was looking for

I was looking for a reasonably priced, good quality vest for times where it is too warm for a full coat, but still cool enough to keep my core warm. Especially when there is a cool wind blowing. The Windwall 1 vest fit the bill perfectly for me. The fit is not too tight and not loose. Fits nice with my big frame in the XL size. I'm 6'-2" and 240lbs. The only thing missing with the vest is a zippered pocket on the inside. I wish this vest had one for sunglasses or my wallet. Otherwise I think it is an excellent purchase.

Im so glad I bought this vest. I got this to replace an old one and this new is better. Great combination of light weight, warm and windstopping ability. Hard to find a better light weightwarn and warn vest.

Very comfortable and warm even on a windy day. I do own the jacket with full sleeves, but this also works as a inner liner for my jacket to keep me nice and toasty even when its cold outside. With the weather here in San Francisco can change in a heartbeat, this vest does the job and does it well.

Got this for my boyfriend, who absolutely loves it. He is about 6'1'' and it hit him right at the hip. He says its warm and the color is great to match with everything. Would highly recommend!!!

Bought this as a replacement for a Columbia fleese vest that was a huge let down. this vest, however, is thinner and much warmer than the Columbia. My husband loves it.

my fourth NorthFace product.....Like the quality, sized a little small but so were the other items.....other than that, great product. Bought to wear under rain gear if conditions are right so the snug fit will be ok

It fits a little small. Might want to size up if you don't want a tight fit. Other than that, this is a great vest. Great company to work with, good products, good availability and great customer service.

Bought this as a gift for my son, it's comfortable, well made and very practical for an everyday vest to throw on in the chilly mornings, take off at lunch, and put on again as you head home in the afternoons. My son likes to layer without appearing bulky, this vest does the trick. It is also great for Arizona weather....never too chilly, but cold in the shade:)

I always have a hard time finding gear that fits me true to size. I am 6'3" and usually have to purchase Tall items, but this vest fits perfect and is extremely comfortable. I wear it skiing and to work. A great buy for anyone who is looking for a "do all" vest.

Needed a vest for running, I own several others Brands & types.This is my First North Face. It's made well & it does what it says, Stops the Wind. Pick your base layer accordingly and GO. I also wear it under my Carhartt Jacket On those chilly days.

This is a well made vest and like all of North Face gear the quality is superb. The vest is longer than I really like, hitting well below the waist and it is a little tight in the chest. I ordered a Large which is my normal size for this type of garment. In the future I might order one size larger.

Perfect as a mid-layer or outer shell, especially on those "in-between" days when you're not sure what to wear. Fits compactly into a backpack after you've hit the trail and need to shed that outer layer. Typical great North Face quality and great styling/looks.

I use this vest for commuting on my bicycle to work. It wicks sweat fine but the front zipper bundles up in riding position. It's great when I'm off the bike! Not a disappointment!

TNF fit is very, very large

I was given this vest in size medium which, according to TNF sizing, is exactly my size. Medium is normally the size I get in other brands as well. This vest is HUGE. I have a 40 inch chest and am able to put TWO jackets on UNDERNEATH this vest. That is ridiculous. A wind vest is supposed to be a a snug fit to keep out the wind. It is so baggy that wind easily gets in because of the extra material flapping in the breeze. The medium vest measures 22.5 inches across below the armpits when zipped. Check my math, but that translates to a 45 inch chest size right? My Columbia ballistic medium vest measures 20.5 at the same place and hence fits perfectly. My intended use was for running, hiking, snowshoeing, etc. But due to the oversize baggy fit it is useless for those activities. TNF gear strikes me as being designed for casual wear only. The fit is clearly not intended for high performance use. I also have a medium TNF fleece jacket that I never wear for exactly the same reason. It is way too baggy and therefore not warm or comfortable under a pack.

This vest, in my opinion, should fit tightly as a wind layer for outdoor activity. This vest is cut Much too roomy for this purpose--especially if you have a size Large chest measurement and a slim waist. There is an excess of material in the waist, it could fit Over a down vest! WAY too roomy. I also found the grey color to be drab looking in design. Overall, it was not difficult to decide to return this vest. I recommend the Mountain Tech MOUNTAIN hardware vest instead. It is several inches slimmer and the cut and style is overall more desirable.

Great Fleece Vest

I got the North Face vest to replace a much older fleece vest (not NF). This one is made of thinner but much more dense fleece fabric; its warmer and fits better. The standup collar is just the right size and provides wind protection or folds down out of the way. There's a weather strip flap behind the zipper, and the whole thing is very wind-resistant and well made. I wore it all last winter season and on trip to New Mexico last March, and have been wearing it on the chilly days we've had this fall. All in all, one of my best and most versatile cold weather layers for core protection.

Runs true to size, so you don't have to worry about sending it back for an exchange. Same high quality as other Northface items I've purchased in the past. I've got other Northface vests, jackets, etc. that I've had for over 5 years, and after regular use still look new. Definitely worth the extra few dollars.

terrific product with a great fit. Light weight but a substantial feel for both warmth and wind protection. A veratile product for waering by itself or under a jacket for an extra layer of warmth. Is not bulky nor does it ride up when worn under a jacket since the material is soft yet feels firm. Highly recommended to complement fall to winter wear--looks great, feels great and adds protection. the garment is made with high quality stiching for long lasting wear. The medium is true to fit--I am 5'10" 165lbs--

Lightweight, keeps the heat in and wind out. I like vests better than jackets in spring/fall because they are much more flexible and not as bulky.

I love this thing. I went skiing on a warmer day and wore this vest and it worked well. I also like that it has some light insulation on the inside so it is a little more than just a fleece vest. It's actually warm. Craftmanship is top notch too. It's one of those pieces of equipment that make me think "man, I'm glad I bought this"

I purchased a version of this vest for women, and I found it to be a bit too short for my liking. Even though I am short, I like my outerwear to hit a bit lower. This is perfection! A size small hits right at my hip and is snug enough for my small frame (5'2", 120 lbs). If you don't like the women's version, try this. It is not only beautiful, but fits like a dream.

Very comfortable and warm, especially when it is worn inside a jacket. it keeps the wind from going in between the jacket and the body, keeping the body warm. when the weather is very windy and cold, it is great at repelling the wind chills.

I am very happy with this purchase. I have used it on both Grand Canyon hikes and on chilly mornings to the office. Very comfortable piece no matter the activity. I was a bit surprised when some surface fleece rubbed off when tied to a camelbak via bungee, but not a huge deal considering the overall quality.

The vest fits perfectly. It is much warmer that I expected. The exterir material is not as attractive as windwall full jackets. Which is a surprise to me. Overall it is quite a nice vest. Warm and comfortable.

This North Face vest is great for 6 months of the year in MN. It's plenty roomy and just the right amount of warmth for indoors or for layering. Due to fear of discontinuation, this is my second one so I'm ready if the first wears out.

First I purchased an awesome all season wind-proof, water-proof, shell. Next was the decision on what to put under it. North Face was the answer but which one? Denali jacket or vest; Apex Bionic or one of the other many TNF styles. I picked the Windwall 1 vest. Since it builds and retains heat I can wear a short sleeve shirt on cool days; long sleeve on cooler days; and add the shell for cold and or wet days. Of course buying from Altrec is a bonus no matter what you buy... :-)

Great Functional Vest for In - Between Days

I purchased this vest spring of 2010 and really like it. I used to use fleece jackets for spring / fall or in - between weather, but I found them to be too warm most of the time. So I tried this vest and have found it very functional for baseball games to camping trips. It is just the right amount of warmth for those 40 to 60 degree days. I also like the wind proof factor too - to keep the gusts at bay.
