The North Face Patrol 24 ABS Winter Pack

• This pack comes with the airbags, but it DOES NOT INCLUDE THE ACTIVATION UNIT OR THE COMPRESSED CO2 CANISTER. You must purchase those separately.

  ABS (Avalanche Airbag System)

  The ABS system consists of airbags, an activation unit, and a compressed CO2 canister. When an avalanche releases, and before it comes to rest, you pull the pull handle, charged activation unit goes off, and the airbags quickly deploy and inflate out the sides of the pack. This may increase your flotation in an avalanche to keep you from getting completely buried. It also may make you more visible to ski partners who are looking for you when buried. Airbags are re-packable and reusable, and the CO2 canisters are refillable at a refilling station.

  It is up to the user to be sure the pack and all necessary components of the ABS unit are in working condition before heading out into avalanche terrain.
