i bought this backpack for my boyfriend and he just loves it! having a laptop case over your regular backpack really helps huge amount especially for him who's always on the go and would just slid everything on his bag. absolute great bag and reasonable price.

Smaller than I expected it to be. Well made but small/average size. My high school student needs something larger for carrying books. I have returned my purchase.

I absolutely love my new backpack. I was a little skeptical about trusting this site or not, just because I had never heard of it but it shipped fast, my backpack wasn't damaged, and the great price was a plus. I'll definitely shop here again.

I have had this bag for a few weeks and I am really glad I chose it. It is very spacious and versatile. It also is very ergonomic. I use it for work and also for camping/hiking trips and it looks and works great for both situations. Not a single complaint so far from me.. highly recommended!

Very spacious bag. I was always looking for a sturdy bag and now I finally have one. My back no longer hurts with the long commute I have from home to my university.. I absolutely recommend it. Law students and Med students if you really need to carry all those books and feel as if nothing is on your back.. I say go for this bag !

This backpack is great for daily use. North Face did a great job in the design of the backpack to minimize the stress on your back when carrying items in the backpack. There are many pockets for large, small, and delicate articles.

I bought this backpack for my trip to Jamaica. I needed something that's not heavy, has small compartments to hold small stuff and is durable. Recon does it all! and the design is really cute, too. I got cardinal red which was on sale;) It's not as dark as it shows on the web and I love it!!! One miner thing I didn't like was that the fabric inside. I thought it's too thin

I'm a commuter and need a light and roomy bag that has good weight support while walking long distances. This bag has all that. It is my second Recon, and I plan to buy another one in a different color.

I had the front zipper break on me within a month of buying it. Side zippers get caught on fabric easily. Would definitely not buy again.

I bought this backpack as a gift for my Dad who has a bad back but insists on carrying around a huge swiss army backpack. He received the recon in the mail for Father's Day and was very disappointed because it was so small. He ended up being able to fit everything he needed in the backpack and even carried it around for an entire week not realizing there was an unutlized pocket! The back support in this backpack has really helped ease his pain and is much more convenient when he travels because of its compact size.

This backpack is awesome. I really like it, and I use it all the time. It has some neat things like the upper strap belt, the bottom straps, and the whistle. Even when it has a lot of heavy stuff in it, it doesn't hurt your back when you're wearing it.

The Recon backpack is lightweight and comfortable, yet can pack a surprising amount. I use it as a school bag, but will likely use it for camping also.

I did some shopping around before I bought this pack since it is kinda pricey. Now that I've used the pack for over a month I can say it's well worth it. I use this pack for my laptop and it has replaced my briefcase. It can be a fairly heavy load but the pack holds up great and keeps it comfortable. This is something to consider when comparing to cheaper packs. Overall I am very happy.

I bought this backpack a few weeks ago and I am very pleased with it! The quality of this bag is excellent and it serves all the functions that I need it to. There is a place for my water bottle, my laptop, books and other items. There is a lot of storage space for all those odds and ends that people tend to carry around with them. The bag is a pricey, I was fortunate enough to buy mine on sale - however, it's a great investment at any price. This is my first purchase of a North Face item - but I am sure that it won't be my last!

This backpack fits everything I need for school on my everyday routine. The small pockets on the inside help organize my little chords and accessories. It is also wonderful that I can change it to a hiking backpack, or a sleepover/travel bag. It is a great purchase.

I've been using this bag for a while now and I really like it. I've used it for school, day hikes, and city travel. It's a good all around backpack. Also, the side pockets easily fit Nalgene bottles.

It really serves its purpose, and the laptop lining is a bit too small for my 15.4" Thinkpad (which is a brick anyway). The back part of the pack is VERY cushiony. Good stuff. I am glad with my purchase. It's better than my old Jansport, I just wished the outer lining was a lot more durable.

I'm a student that lugs around a laptop and a big binder every day. A lot of space is reserved for the organizer in front for things like pens/pencils, cell phone, mp3 player, which is great for me. The main compartment is not big, but does fit a laptop with laptop sleeve, and a 2" binder. The shoulder straps feel extremely sturdy and while there's a healthy number of straps around, this seems like a very sturdy bag overall. I would recommend it to any student or as a very rugged work bag.

I am buying this one to replace my current Recon, which is about 10 years old and still working fine (just looking a little dingey, waterproofing flaking off). These are GREAT bags that last a long time and look nice doing it.

The pack is a good guy if you have the money. I found it cheeper elsewhere, but it serves my purpose of protecting my computer well, is very durable and has a place for everything.

I didn't buy this bag, but after reading the reviews I decided to find one at a local sporting goods store to have a look. I was hoping to find a bag to carry an expensive laptop around in that nobody could guess the contents of. After analyzing it (and several other versions of the "recon" bag), I realized that it is too lightweight and lacking padding to protect a laptop and I wasn't impressed with the small amount of padding on the shoulder straps. The hip belt only goes around your hips if you are an extremely short individual (I am 5'10" and the strap went around my belly button). The nylon is also thin enough that it could be easily cut with a razor and the zipper pulls are made of string - not suitable for adequate security in high crime areas. This bag might work great for a school bookbag or a bag to go hiking with, but it did not suit my needs. I was also not very impressed by the small number of organization pockets that it has, especially since so many reviewers boasted about this.

I will be starting law school in the fall and wanted a backpack that could hold a lot of heavy books and not kill my back. This backpack and its back saving technology works wonderfully. I also like the organizational compartment in the front pocket where there is space for my cell phone, ipod, and pens and pencils. Also, the mesh front is perfect for shoving jackets or other large items into. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase and believe it would work very well for other students who know they will have a large amount of books to carry around
