Right choice
Bag arrived quickly and at a lower cost than if I'd bought it from The North Face store in Beverly Hills.
The bag is great. Tough, well made, and looks cool. I have no doubt that it will give years of great service - however if it doesn't it's comforting to know that Altrec have a lifetime warranty.

This piece of luggage is every bit as nice as the reviews claim. I have seen several others in the airports, so obviously savvy travelers are catching on as well. Altrec was by far the best website to purchase from. Quick, tax free and easy purchasing!

Rolling Thunder duffle bag is tough enough for Afghanistan
I have recently purchased 2 North Face Rolling Thunder duffel bags. I'm deployed to Afghanistan and there is no better duffel than this to survive here with some of the worst weather, dust and overall harsh environment as this. I know that when I move around to forward operating bases, that this bag will not fail me. The rugged and simple construction from the zippers to the stitching and wheels are unmatched. Once I return to civilization, I'll wash off the Afghan dust and dirt and use it for normal travel. It's that versatile.

A solid, rugged yet handsome rolling duffel now serving in Afgha
I have bought 2 rolling thunder medium rolling duffle luggage. One for myself and one for my daughter and her son's travel needs. I am on my fourth tour in Afghanistan and this luggage has withstood the rigors of military airlift and tactical truck transportation as well as wind, heat and dust storms with no damage. The retaining straps, carry handles, heavy weight zippers and rubberized canvas construction are better than any issue sea/duffel bag I have ever owned. The wheels and handles also make heavy combat gear movement a piece of cake. I have recommended this luggage to all of my colleagues and altrec.com has superior pricing. I'm at JIOC-A J2X, APO, AE 09356

Happy with my purchase.
I'm going to study in China for 4 months and required luggage that was big enough to fit everything since I have to carry it to and from the dorm myself. I'm 5'3" and weigh 108lb and I managed to fit 50+lb worth of stuff in my bag with no problem lifting or moving about. The material seems extremely durable and I don't think I could have found a better bag for my trip elsewhere.

Surprised and slightly disappointed
I have owned and loved and tested the limits of the soft sided North Face bags for over 10 years now. I just knew that this would be the panacea to the no wheels issue. Unfortunately, there is a significant trade off; the weight of the rolling mechanism. With the 50 pound limits we are facing on airlines these days it is already more than easy to reach that with the large North Face duffels... Since the duffels have the shoulder straps already, I think I'm opting for remaining with the no wheels versions. On a plus note, the bag is extremely well made and appears exceedingly durable. It is only available in black, sadly, and I am sure it will take me wherever. Also, it's hard to find a bigger capacity anywhere, so that's a plus. So, basically, this is a halfhearted recommendation, all things considered.
