The North Face broadened their hiking collection from top to bottom with new approach shoes, more light hiking mid-cut boots, and a complete redesign of their Outside Magazine Gear of the Year Award winner, the Trek Light Leather GTX.

This season The North Face expanded their hiking shoe collection from top to bottom to offer a wider range of styles, fit and performance options. From the Fortress Peak GTX, their multi day backpacking boot, to their new Buildering approach shoes, they paid close consideration to the specific end use of each shoe. Their collection is engineered with leading and innovative technology and offers a customized solution to any mountain adventure. With this philosophy they added more mid-cut boots and shoes to the collection with the Bryce Mid and Esker Ridge Mid for light hiking.

The feet are the foundation of the body and require stability and support in order to maintain a strong and healthy body. The newly designed Northotic is a multi-density foot bed that provides enhanced stability, support and cushioning on the trail.

  1. Lateral and medial TPU heel crandle offers torsional stability, arch support and prohibits over-pronation.
  2. Ortholite polyurethane (PU) foot bed. Firmer PU under the ball and heel for cushioning and stability. Softwear top layer for a cushioned ride throughout.
  3. Longitudinal arch wedge prevents the foot from sliding forward, and supports the arch.
  4. Agion anti-microbial silver agent woven into the top sheet of the foot bed inhibits the growth of odors and disease-causing bacteria.

Engineered to fit comfortably while hiking and provide a precision fit when scrambling and edging your way to the rock, the new Buildering North Face Shoe incorporates the essential performance features of an approach shoe, with the stability and comfort of a hiking shoe. The North Face's continued collaboration with the engineers at Vibram resulted in their unique outsole pattern and dual rubber compound design.

The North Face extended their multisport collection to feature more breathable and quick-draining options. These new aerodynamic designs combined with lightweight materials and components allow for efficient movement over mixed terrain. For adventure racers and trail runners they debut the ultralight and brightly colored Resilience and Sieve, both with a mesh upper for superior air circulation and drainage. Sturdy shank support for foot protection, ultralight EVA midsoles and TNF Trail Grip outsoles ensure stable footing with excellent traction and load-bearing capabilities.

Adhering to their dedication to developing customized performance shoes, The North Face introduces the Wrath, a non Gore Tex vented alternative to the popular Fury Gore Text XCR shoe, for a stable and supportive ride over rugged surfaces.

The North Face Shoes - Breathability and Drainage
There is nothing more frustrating than crossing a river in a water-logged shoe, or running in hot, humid conditions with shoes that just don't breathe. When every second counts, durable footwear that adapts to its surroundings is essential. This season The North Face unveils two new styles that give you the freedom to move from wet to dry environments with confidence.

The new Resilience is built with an extremely breathable open-cell sandwich mesh that allows air to circulate through the shoes, for a lightweight feel while keeping your foot dry and comfortable. The built-in filter in the mesh prevents rocks and other trail debris from penetrating through the shoe.

The Sieve shoe, on the other hand, is specifically designed to get wet. Its open pore mesh allows water to drain out as soon as it enters the shoes. A secure skeletal structure ensures support and protection of the shoes, but provides the ultimate in lightweight, breathable and quick-drying performance. The HydroTrak water-specific rubber outsole means ample traction in both wet and dry conditions.

The North Face - Trail Running Shoes
Building on the success of the category, The North Face Trail Running Shoes collection is now broader, addressing the varying demands of terrain and user ability. As an alternative to the award-winning Vapor Light, the new Cutback is a streamlined hybrid trail and road running shoe with a lightweight mesh upper and welded phalanges that support the foot as well as reduce hot points. The new North Face Off Track and Phoenix Ridge are ultralight options for the elite runner looking for efficiency as well as the beginner seeking traction and a light ride.
