Nice bag, good size for everyday use
I work in the city, commute via public transportation.
Great bag for everyday use. I carry an umbrella, some notepads and pens, lunch and munch, big headphone and a water bottle.
Height is good for me. I personally think short bags make men look less of one. I hate seeing a dude wearing a small bag, it just doesn't look good.
Very light compared to other similar bags, but fabric is tough enough. (I ain't mountain climbing w/ it)
One thing I DON'T like is how these zippers corner on the curves. It's not so easy to zip up and down the curves, and I have a good feeling that zipper tape will break eventually. I'm careful w/ things like this, so it should last me at least 3 years. If it doesn't break, the bag will last you forever.

Excellent Product

Great water bottle holders on the sides, can hold more than just waterbottles!
Bungie straps on the front have proved to be very useful to hold jackets, shoes and more.

All around good pack.
I use this pack for going back and forth to work. It holds everything I need, is sporty looking and seems built to last. A good choice for a commuter that might want to also use this as a weekend get away pack. Recommended.

great pack!!!!!
I use this pack for going to school, so I have to put in my laptop, some books and some extra clothes for the gym plus some snacks for the day. The carrying capacity is incredibly large which doesn't affect the comfort a your back. It has nice big external side pockets to carry your mug or water bottles, as well as a frontal organizer, where to put pens, money, etc. There aren't signs of damage or tears, so I think I will stay with this pack for a long time!

Love IT!
I got this backpack for Christmas to carry my new laptop. It has plenty of room, easy to get into and get my stuff out. Like the color. I ordered it at the last minute . I was so happy that it was free shipping, came just in 2 days and it was perfect. Love this North Face Slingshot backpack!

Great backpack for college
Got this backpack because the straps on my old one collapsed. The Slingshot is great - sturdy, lightweight and has great carrying capacity. There are handy side pockets and the front flap contains many sectioned-off pockets for holding pencils and things. All in all, a great backpack.

The Slingshot is a Winner
We just purchased our a Slingshot for our 3rd child because we love this product so much! Our older two kids have used their Slingshots for 3 years now - they have taken quite a beating but show virtually no wear and tear. In addition to being extremely durable, the Slinghshot is the only backpack we've found to comfortably hold all of their books, lunch, gym clothes, etc...! It is very ergonomically designed, so we don't have complaints of aching backs or shoulders either. We would recommend this product to anyone with a child middleschool age and up!

Great Backpack
Solid bag, I'm very happy. Lightweight, lot's of storage, protects laptop or iPad very well. I'd recommend this bag for work, school, and travel.

One of the best backpacks we have gotten
I purchased this back back for my daughter for college. My son has used his for his 2 years in school and it has been great for him. He says it is just the right size for his laptop, books and a few extras. The quality is excellent and you cannot match the durability of it!!

Great backpack!
I made a comparison chart on all the North Face backpacks to see which was the best for me (that was also reasonably priced, and wasn't too long because I'm a short gal). I ended up choosing the NF Slingshot because not only can it carry my 15' macbook pro, but it has a huge capacity for all my college books. And when all those get heavy, the chest and waist belt come in great handy! I also love the flexibility and space the bungee cord straps allows for various-sized drinks in the 'cup' pockets.
Never enjoyed a backpack as much as this. Great back support at well. No Cons!

Very sturdy. Very big.
This is a good bag that can take wear and tear. I will use this backpack when going on short trips rather than taking luggage. I don't think this bag is made for small people. The straps are very large and thick and may be uncomfortable at first for small people.

These backpacks are a great value for North face quality. We got them for a couple of 15 year olds who give them quite a bit of abuse--and they've held up great. They even like the color.

Great bag for the right application
Offers plenty of room, but I bought the bag with thought of using it for business travel. I need room for a laptop, a notebook and several files. While there is plenty of space there just aren't enough compartments. I think you need a dedicated pocket for a laptop and this bag only offers 2 compartments with no division for separating laptop, folders, notebooks, etc.

I recently purchased on line the North Face slingshot backpack for my college-age son's birthday. He is extremely happy with it and we know how hard it is to make our teenagers happy! He says it is lightweight to use as a book-bag and roomy for all of his huge college books and lots of nice sized pockets for his comfort items such as Ipod, cell phone, water bottle, etc. for those looong hours spent at the library. It's well worth what I spent and as my son would say: North Face - you ROCK!

Cheap and great!
I bought it in the Woodbury outlet near NY only because it was very cheap (I'm italian and in Italy North Face is very expensive), but after a few days I discovered that it is really great! It's perfect for weekend trips and it's so big inside that you could use it as luggage!

Very Pleased
I bought this backpack for college. I'm very impressed with the amount of space it has. I can fit two huge biology books and five 1" binders in my backpack without a problem. The straps are also very comfortable. The great padding keeps the straps from digging into my shoulders. I definitely recommend this backpack.

Support and Room
This backpack is spacious and roomy. It has enough compartments to make organization easy. The straps and back portion are well padded, which adds to the comfort.

nice but...
I've had this backpack for about two years and used it both for hiking in Peru and on campus. It has held up well and is nice and roomy. I have two problems with it though, first that you can't unhook one shoulder and swing it around to access things in the smaller compartment (like keys or a wallet). You have to take the whole thing off and then awkwardly hold it while you search for whatever you need. Which brings me to my second complaint, which is that things tend to fall out of the smaller compartments into the depths of the front pocket.

This has been a really great pack! I use it for school and can get a lot in there! My first one had a defect in it, and the altrec customer service department was awesome! I received a new one in just a few days and the return of the old one was prepaid(mail)! Overall, this has been my favorite backpack that I have owned, and I strongly recommed it!

Great Bag...Small Size
If you want a small bag that is durable and has a lot of carrying potential the slingshot is the bag for you. Its is not bulky but yet has a lot of space to store things in it. I am hapy with my purchase

cool
I love my black slingshot... it's really roomy, and fits all of my school stuff, even my lunchbox, sweatshirt, etc. Plus, it has a really low profile so I don't look like a dork when I'm walking around between classes. The only problem is that sometimes when I'm walking really close to an open door or something, the elastic string thing gets caught on it and I fall over. But that's probably my fault anyway. ;)

The bag is very roomy. The small pocket is a little too big I think and the zipper is a little stiff but overall it's a great bag and I would buy again.

this pack was great for the first year, being in school and all but the down side is that i have had for 2 years and the handle is already breaking off, and there is not enough pockets to help me stay organized. It was great while it lasted and it would be great for a person that was a tailor and very organized

Spacious pack for work, school, and trails
I used to be a big fan of the LL Bean backpacks, but I'm slowly becoming a North Face pack fan. The water bottle holders (2) are great for daytime. The pockets are huge to carry books, gear, etc. If I had one issue it's that this pack doesn't have a bottom pocket for shoes, workout gear, but then again that's not what I primarily bought it for. Excellent back support and solid weight distribution, I don't feel any wear or pain from lugging a full pack around. I haven't had a chance to use this during rain or snow conditions, so I can't comment on weatherproof-ness of this, but I hope it stands up. Bottom line, good pack for everyday use, and for the price compared to the other North Face packs, probably the best overall value.

lots of space, great for the daily grind
this is a great backpack overall. it has a generous main pocket for plenty of books and binders, and has a large second compartment with an underrated organization pocket. the water bottle holders are convenient, and the back padding is great. the bungee system is overrated, but still comes in handy to hold a sweatshirt, raincoat, etc. i would recommend buying it and altrec did a wonderful job getting it to me.

Great backpack for school and work
Plenty of room for books, the front compartment makes it easy to organize everything too. At first it felt a little bulky and stiff, but i got used to it. I like it a lot.

North Face Rules!
The North Face Slingshot is great. This is my first time owning a North Face product and now I can see why they are one of the top companies in the Outdoor product market. North Face has put a lot of effort to ensure the slingshot can handle extreme wear and tear along with comfort and functionality. I would definitely buy a North Face product again.

Spacious, light, but damp
The Slingshot Daypack is all it was advertised as: roomy, light, good reflective accents, heavy zippers and other closures. The only thing I found wrong with it was it's lack of good waterproofing/repellancy. It collected about an eighth of an inch of water in the main compartment and the smaller compartment also showed signs of water entry in a hard, driving rain. I'm proceeding to do additional waterproofing with Nikwax products ordered from Altrec.com.

Nice pack for use on campus
I bought this pack to haul my books around campus, it seams to be of pretty goood quality and is a very nice pack for this purpose. I'm not an avid hiker, yet, so I can't comment on its use for that purpose, but if your looking for a nice daypack, I think this pack is very nice for that purpose. It has a second pouch for a calculator, pens, and etc. It could use a few more compartments but the main compartment is very roomy and the second compartment goes the length of the pack allowing room many small items.

Holds Everything!
This is the largest bookbag style daypack, and it holds a ton of stuff. The 33 litre capacity should get you through the day with room to spare.

Could be a liitle more comfortable
This pack is great for a days worth of school books or a weekend getaway. I would not take it on a day hike as the shoulder straps need more cushioning as does the back panel. For day hikes, I would recommend the Borealis.

Very nice back pack. Good and roomy for books and will be perfect for me at college. It got a 4 because the zippers don't seem to be great. It might just need to be broken in. I would reccommend to purchase this backpack.

Absolutely worth it!
I got this backpack when I got tired enough of my Jansport single-strap backpack, because I ride my bike to school and my Jansport had a habit of sliding around to one side and throwing me off balance. Well, deciding not to let my backpack cause an unfortunate accident, I looked for a good backpack that could also hold my helmet and lo and behold I found the Slingshot. This is my first experience with The North Face, although I've heard of them for many years, and I don't think this'll be the last time I buy their products. Primo good!

9 out of 10
So, I purchased the north face slingshot backpack to replace my $150.00 Oakley Icon that wasn't worth a $1.50 but it looked cool. Any way I put the sling shot through the paces and it passed every test I had for it. So why a 9 out of 10 and not a 10, well it's because I wish there was a little more length on the straps. You see I lift weights and my arms and shoulders are a little bulky but the sligshot still fits even over my plushest winter coat ( Nike ACG Urban Survival Snorkel). Looking for a daypack? you will be hard pressed to find one better than the North Face sling Shot.
