Great product and excellent design from northface, extremely light and breathable material. Quickly drys when wet if you're caught in a storm or hiking plus it's waterproof

Tons of space
October 25, 2011
This a great hiker! Plenty of room for all things needed on an extended hike and then some. The outside pocket has room for an mp3 player, phone, and other small items. The main pocket is large and I mean large! I fit my camera, an extra pair of socks, sunglasses, sunscreen, gloves, food, and on and on. Pockets on both sides for water bottles. Very comfortable and has taken several beatings without damage. Awesome!
Pros: Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Cons: CostGreat Lumbar Pack

As the previous reviewer stated, attention to detail stands out with this versatile pack. In addition to the many pockets, the shoulder strap is well padded with functional and convenient eye hooks. Easy to adjust and remove. A pleasure to use!

I walk 2 dogs from 4 to 8 miles daily. Carry several small things: GPS, phone, camera, bags, flashlight, etc.; plus water, bowls, and snacks. This pack holds them comfortably, and gives easy access.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use, distributes weight between shoulder and back, Cons: unclear purpose for front pocket with bottom holeWrite a review for the The North Face Sport Hiker Lumbar Pack here.
Great Pack

I was going to buy a smaller NF Lumbar Pack, but when I became aware of this one - with 3 liters more room (9 all told) - this was my choice. NF has high quality gear, and this pack is no exception. I can carry it three ways: 1) around the waist, 2) with the (removable) shoulder carry strap (and waist belt stowed nicely away), and 3) slung over the shoulder using the waist belt. It was also a good bit cheaper at Altrec than at other places I looked at online. Shipped fast by FedEx.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Great valueAlready own the The North Face Sport Hiker Lumbar Pack? Tell us your thoughts.
Very handy lumbar pack

This works very well, the side straps allow me to attach my medium sized camera and a small binoc on the other side. Good straps keep things balance and happy, great pocket assortment, lots of smaller compartments to stash little items like DEET, sunscreen, lip balm, lighter etc. It is bit pricey but seems as if it may be worth it. The water bottle holders are not very good for larger bottles ie .75 Liters or more which is why I only gave it 4 stars. Other than that detail I really like it.

Very high quality, pockets everywhere and 3-point compression. Attention shown to small details. Quite pricey, but if a great pack is important to you, well worth the cost.

Great for short, fast trips
April 11, 2011
I have both this and the Day Hiker. I use the Day Hiker more often because of the larger capacity, but the Sport Hiker is great for short trips. I rarely use my favorite Deuter thanks to these two models; I hate having the pack on my shoulders and the heat trapped on my back. The compartments are well organized, the compression straps are amazing. It's a little bulky when stuffed full, but gives you enough room for the absolute essentials. If you're a packrat like me, opt for the Day Hiker which holds a TON of stuff and does it very comfortably. I am a mom and use it for urban outings with my child; love having hands free!

Multi-purpose!!.... Although I wish the waiste band was detachable, I still love this bag. First time use while hiking with my daughter today and it was very convenient. Wore it as a fanny while we hiked so I can be totally hands free and not worry about the bag falling over. AFter hiking, while shopping I was able to wear it as a regular purse. VERY CONVENIENT....!!! I LOVE IT!

A lumbar pack that lets you carry everything you need for a 10 mile Day Hike. Nice hip belt with good padding, plenty of pockets and just the right amount of space.
