Very nice summit pack; needs better straps
January 27, 2012

BLUF. This is an excellent pack that has everything you might need when pushing for a summit run. The Good. This pack is light and packs into its own pocket the same of a small book. Additionally it is made with fairly sturdy parachute fabric that's tough and should be able to take on some abuse. It comes with 2 bungee cords and bungee loops should you decide to stuff a jacket outside. For most uses you won't need to install the bungee cords as the pack is huge. Large enough to pack everything you need and might need for a summit run. It also has nice ice axe loops. The Bad. Because this is specifically designed to be a lightweight summit pack, it doesn't come with a internal frame. This means you may have to pack the bag in such a way that the inner contents does move around too much. More importantly the shoulder strap needs a slight redesigning. Because the shoulder straps is thin, the pack tends to open up and wants to slide off my shoulder if the pack is loaded to its capacity. You always have to use the chest strap to secure the shoulder straps from slipping off. Again, this is one of the compromises for being such a light and compact bag. As long as you don't use it for any extended travel this is an excellent pack. Kudos to the North Face for doing something right in a long time.

Excellent Daypack
November 28, 2012

Excellent pack for hiking. The superbly light weight yet durable fabric allows me to load it to full pack. One thing i didn't quite like is how to fold it back neatly into pouch size. But the material is thin enough to just scrunch it up and stuff it in.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Great value

This pack is awesome! I haven't seen any packs like this by other companies, but why others haven't made one like this is beyond me. I used this pack on a 4 day business trip as a carry on and it worked perfectly. I put 4 days worth of clothes, 2 pair gym clothes, a yoga towel, 4 cliff bars, ipad, and still had room to put 2 more days of clothes! Put my bath items in the zip pocket it folds into. It was perfect. The coolest thing is that it's folded up taking up no room whats so ever waiting for the next business trip! See ya suitcase. The only downside is the straps aren't even the slightest padded, but it does fold up into a nothing pocket so it's acceptable to me.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use, Great value
