Only winter jacket you need!
I am 5"2, 118 lbs and I wear a small. It is a little tight in the chest, but the sleeves are the right length. This is really the only jacket you need for the winter! You can layer it under or over other gear and the material is flexible so you can still move around easily. The only disadvantage is sometimes the collar gets in the way and it will not stay folded down. This jacket is perfect for your next hiking adventure!

Form Enhancing Performance Jacket
This jacket is definitely a quality North Face product. I bought a medium but returned it as I found it too tight for my comfort. I'm 5'8" 150lbs and have always worn medium in TNF. I bought two other TNF clothing items along with this jacket (in medium) and they fit me just fine. I prefer a looser fit. If you want a jacket that is snug and form fitting, and you have the figure to pull it off, then it would be fine for you. I think it would work well on it's own in milder winter conditions or with a very light base layer underneath (mid-weight underwear or a micro T-shirt perhaps). It was fairly stretchy.

My jacket is a great design, it is very light weight and durable. It repeals the rain and snow. I like the fact that it is very warm and light weight. It is a great jacket for the cost.

Great Jacket
Got this jacket for my wife last Christmas and she loves it. I ordered the jacket in White and we originally were skeptical of how long it would hold up. A year later the jacket is in excellent condition as any dirt or stains wash away easily. She really likes the windproof qualities on the blustery days.

Great Jacket!
This jacket does have a closer to the body fit; however the style is streamlined and slimming. I purchased a Medium and it fits comfortably: 34D/5'4 & 130 lbs. I would recommend this jacket if you are looking for something that is not bulky and still provides moderate warmth.

great jacket
I bought this coat for my girlfriend for Xmas. I originally bought a medium but had to return it for a large as this has a slimmer modern fit and she wasn't able to layer as well as she would have liked. The large is perfect for her. She loves how the jacket fits and looks. Would buy this jacket again and would reccomend to everyone.

Not for short curvey women
I am 5'1", 120, and I have not found a North Face jacket that fits. This jacket is too tight in the hips, and too big across the back. If I got a larger size than medium, the sleeves would come down to my feet. I really wanted to love this jacket, but it gets returned.

I bought this as a gift for my wife and was very pleased with its fit, comfort,features and construction. Wifey loved the jacket. Its her first softshell and I think she was pleasantly surprised by its ability to block wind/repel water and its insulation/heat retention abilities.

excellent item
As an avid hiker, I needed a versatile jacket that could be used both on the trail and at a backcountry site but could still retain a comfortable layering option in more difficult climates.
This jacket is more than enough to serve as an effective wind and water shell in austere weather as well as a thick protective layer in high climates.

True to Size!
I purchased this jacket for an upcoming trip to Ireland, France, Germany, and Italy in May. Since we have to pack for a few different seasons it appeared light and still warm. I purchased a medium from this site (and a small from another b/c it was on sale)..I did both sizes because reviews were mixed as to if it was true to size or you needed a size up. I think the small fits me best (I'm 5" 6.5" and ~133 lbs). I have fairly broad shoulders so really somewhere in between would have been best, but the Medium is just too big in the arms. It seems like it is great quality and I'm excited to take it on my trip! I love the green/teal color!

Great Soft Shell

Great coat. Wish it had a hood but otherwise enjoy the versatility very much. Just starting using a few weeks ago but will layer for winter. Blocks the wind very well. Haven't had the opportunity to use it during snowy weather.

Love it.
I just got this jacket in the mail ..and already love it. I got the Graphite Grey and i love the color. I am usually a black person for everything and decided to switch it up. Glad I did. The color will still go with everything. The arms are a big long for me, but still fits fine. Def a snug fit and not alot of wiggle room, so glad I got the Medium, but like that it is still long enough. This is my 2nd north face jacket in the past 6 years. And this one is a great buy! Def recommend it. Seems like it will withstand the cold while at recess with my class in the wind!

Great Jacket
I Love this jacket. It is very comfortable. I wear it for horseback riding. It lets me move comfortably and stays clean. Grass does not stick to it. It keeps me warm and protected from wind. I have it in purple, a great color and my daughter has it in black. Ir runs true to size. A good all around jacket for multiple activities and looks great on the street as well.

Versatile and warm jacket
I love this jacket. It is not too tight/roomy. Very wind-proof. Light-weight yet keeps me very warm, even warmer than my fleece jacket. I chose TNF black and it goes with everything. It is the jacket I reach for every day.

Great Coat!

Daughter loves this jacket

I usually wear a med in women's. So I purchased the bionic in medium and it fits big on me. The sleeves come up to my palms and the sides are loose. I havent tried it outside because im going exchange it for a small. But I do know its very warm.

An all-around jacket.
This jacket fits true-to-size. Therefore, if you normally wear a size small, then go with a size small. Moreover, this jacket would suffice as an all-around and an all-season jacket. A wonderful buy indeed especially if you're tight on the budget. This jacket does indeed protect you from wind and rain. It protected me from the wind and rain that pummelled the East Coast. It also has a very attractive fit for those who does not like the bulky look. You truly cannot go wrong with a North Face product. I have been an avid fan for quite sometime.

At first i got the windwall jacket and returned becaue realized it was not water proof. after i purchased the apex bionic and love it! its perfect for the mountain areas where i am located. I'm 5'3 103 pounds and got a small because i usually where sweatshirts under my jackets and its pefect. highly recommended

I have been searching for a jacket that is 100% windproof, breathable and stylish. I need to wear it when I go running because I live in an area that is very windy and cloudy in the morning. I use it every day when I go running. It's comfortable and very breathable. I would recommend to anyone that needs a wind proof jacket.

Exactly what I was looking for
Bought this for my upcoming trip into the Denali. My husband has the male version and just loves it. It's water repellent, windproof. He uses his even in the Chicago winter, layered with a sweater. It's also great for riding (motorcycles) because of the wind resistance. My only criticism is that the women's runs tight on the waist and large around the arms. I am pear shaped, and the fit is not optimal. I'm not sure it would do to well for layering if you are pear shaped bc of this fit issue. However, I got a great deal on it at Altrec and I'm willing to make it work.

Do not hesitate buying this jacket!!!!!
I wanted this jacket last winter and did not get it.........this time I am not passing this deal up. Fits great!! I got a medium after reading the reviews. I am so glad I did! I am 125 5 "2" small boned. I wear smalls in others jackets from NORTH FACE. This one is cut smaller. Remember when you are in the winter weather you layer. This will be perfect for snowshoeing and cross country sking. Every winter we go to New Hampshire and last year my husband has this same jacket, he was soooooo happy he had it for our out door play. I was mad at myself for not getting one too. But....I have mine now. Don"t miss out on this deal. has just enough room to layer and best of all the pockets. Amazing Jacket
I was looking for a medium weight jacket and this jacket is perfect! My second North Face purchase in one week! First I got the Denali and love it but wanted another for more wind and rain protection and the Apex Bionic delivered just that! This jacket fits me well. I ordered a medium and I am 5'7" and weigh 135. Very flattering fit and still has enough room for a couple layers under on the colder days. I am loving the wind protection that it offers. My new favorite jacket!

Super Wind Proof with Styule
THis jacket is a must have if you ride a motorcycle or scooter. It is very windproof and very water repellent and looks fantastic on. This the third one that I got for my family. My girl in college loves it since it is so light but warm and wind proof! North Face has the best quality outdoor jacket in the market. I LOVE this jacket! I purchased it in a Large, I'm 5"10 and have gained a little winter weight in my tummy area, I'm a size 10/12 now. This jacket is perfect, sleeves are long and perfect length, the fit is VERY flattering, its light, comfy and breathable. Can't say enough good about it! Wow! What an awesome jacket! The quality is definitely in this one & anyone would get a ton of good out of it.. Didn't know until I had it for a few weeks-my teenage daughter has one just like it that her dad had got her for Christmas! Popular for all ages! I m 5'5" (145lbs) and the large fits me perfect enough I can still wear a med wt sweatshirt under it comfortably. Only wore it once when windy & it sure kept the cold out! Even though I got it in black, it still would be very flattering to the figure in any color. Had 3 picked out when I called & the guy that answered my call was extremely helpful! I'm really liking this jacket, and the fact that it's more fitted. If you are looking to be able to layer under it with sweatshirts, it probably won't happen. I would definitely buy this product again in the future.

Great Soft-Shell
I got this coat as a soft shell for a climb. It is lightweight and really blocks the wind. The color is fabulous (teal) and I get many compliments on it. The neck was quite stiff when new but does seem to be working itself out. This coat really holds in your body heat so would not be good in warm weather. Great light layer!

One satisfied wife!!
My wife wanted a Northface jacket for her birthday and I decided to shop around on-line. I decide to let my wife choose the color and she chose the Phoenix Pink. At first she was not thrilled with the color but after putting it on and receiving several complements she is pleased withher jacket. The only thing she found was that the jackets run smaller. Short!
I was really looking forward to getting this jacket, but once i did, i found that it was kind of short. I am only 5'3, but i found and extra-small to be a little bit too short even though the rest of it fit me fine. It seems like it has really good quality, though, and I am going to get a small when i order a new one! so my suggestion would be to order a size up!

Great Jacket!
I've wanted this jacket for a long time. I use it for everything. It's the warmest light weight jacket that I have - perfect for the spring weather. I love to hike and be outdoors, so this jacket is perfect for me. The only issue I have with it is the pocket liners have holes for ventilation on the inside that can sometimes let cool air in if you don't have your hands pressed to your body. Great jacket, though. I would definitely recommend it.

Lovely Jacket
I wore this jacket when it was raining non-stop. Jacket kept me dry, but I wish the jacket came with a hood, since that will dispense with the need to carry an umbrella. I sized up after reading reviews that the fit runs small but I think my regular size would have fit just as well.

Love the Bionic Jackets
This is my second Bionic jacket purchase. My first one was 3 years ago and it really hasn't worn out. I just decided to get a new one. I wore the first one every day and it delivers warmth without being bulky, protects from the wind and rain. It is sporty enough to wear with a skirt and jeans. This one seemed to run smaller than my other Apex jacket though a bit more fitted but I like that.

It's Durable!
Love this jacket! Colors go with everything. Wind resistant, for sure! Only issue is the collar. It hits right on the base of my chin and it will not fold out. I like the up collar look - but wish it were more flexible.

Love it!
I bought this to wear now that spring is coming and I'm getting so tired of the heavy NF I usually wear. Love this jacket! It is warm enough to wear on chilly morning but not to warm to wear as the temps increase while running out for lunch. The fit is great. It isn't cut high on the waist to allow drafts underneath. The sleeve length is perfect. The color is a nuetral blue. It can be worn with all colors. I would highly recommend this jacket to anyone who is looking for a great spring/ fall jacket.

Highly Recommend!
I tried on this jacket in a store, size large. It fit perfect, however I had a tough time zipping it up all the way. I'm a size 14 and i'm a bit busty, 38E. I was SO happy to find that altrec.com had XL available. IT FITS ME PERFECTLY. I had enough room to zip it up fully-- without making my chest looked squished and flat. Gave me enough room to move around and it looks great! Even better, it blocks the wind and keeps you nice and warm. I have NO problems wearing this jacket in 15 degree weather.
I would suggest this jacket to anyone! In fact, my friend just ordered the same jacket from this site!

Great wind proof jacket
I bought this jacket for outdoor winter use. It is one of my greatest purchases from Altrec. The color was very cute (snowcone red); not overly flashy. It is slim fit, which works very well in cold temperature without having the bulk. I love the zip pockets in which I stored my keys and iPod. Unlike other reviewers, I like the sleeves being long, so I can tuck them into my gloves. I am 5'4"; the hem of medium size jacket falls just at my hips. I wore it today to snowshoe in blustery -7 degree temp, I hardly felt the wind and I was plenty warm from the jacket. You can't go wrong with this soft shell jacket. It is worth every penny!

Just what I wanted
This was my first North Face purchase, so I was a little leery of the cost. However, this jacket has far exceeded my expectations. It has a nice clean look, doesn't attract pet hair and is definitely more wind resistant than a typical fleece. The color selection is great, and I found the sizing to be fairly true. I am very pleased with my purchase and plan on getting the men's version for my boyfriend as well!

Sleeves too long
I loved this jacket - especially the color (peachy orange), but had to return it because the sleeves were just too long and not elastic on cuffs. Would be nice if they could put elastic band internally on cuff so that you can't see it from the outside.
Took forever to get here to Pennsylvania, though. Ordered boots at the same time and they came within a week, jacket took almost 2 weeks.
