Just in Time
The coat arrived the day before our first snowfall. It kept me warm and dry while I shoveled. The extra small fit perfectly. Usually I wear a 4 petite.

Amazing Parka
I researched and researched before buying TNF Arctic Parka and am SO pleased with my purchase. I tried on many other parkas that were a comparable price, and in my opinion, this coat provides the most bang for your buck. It is well made, a perfect length, and extremely warm. I am ALWAYS cold so I still have to wear a long sleeve underneath it, but it is significantly warmer than all of the other down parkas I tried on. I love the fleece liner at the wrists, and it has a flattering shape. It is a little bit more bulky than some of the other North Face down parkas, but it is warmer and waterproof, which makes it worth the tiny bit of extra bulk. I wore it in on a ski mountain in Colorado with the wind howling and freezing temperatures and was only cold on my legs between the bottom of my jacket and my boots. I have received tons of compliments on it! I am 5'6" and 125 lbs and I bought the medium in black. It fits perfectly and I would definitely purchase this parka again. I highly recommend it.

Durable and comfortable
I got this as a gift for my girl friend. According to her, the first few days she started wearing it, it was not as comfortable and the outter lining feels stiff. After few days of wearing it in, it feels more comforble. It is warm enough that she can wear short-sleeves inside. it is long enough that she does not have to wear 2 pants. we like it :>

Great warm coat which is very light but still very warm. It is a great mocca color that goes with everything and the fabric is durable and doesnt get dirty easy.

Great jacket
Bought this jacket for gf, and she is writing this review with me. We love this jacket. So warm even on the most frigid of days. Not the most stylish jacket, but when it's cold outside it really doesn't matter. We've had many TNF jackets in the past, but this is by far the best one so far.

Absolutely fantastic! It's really warm and super comfortable a pleasure to wear as it feels like being hugged by a big nice soft pillow, and yet thin. Looks really good on, makes a beautiful femenine shape!
I have nothing bad to say with maybe the hair in the hood that somehow are always tilted and looks untidy cause they don't go all the way to the neck.
But you can take them off.

Favorite Winter Coat!
Absolutely love the style, and comfort. I am always so warm and comfortable in cold weather, including freezing, snowy conditions. My dog never misses his 2 mile walk in all winter weather because I always wear my favorite winter coat.

Great winter jacket in Chicago weather

Don't look like a marshmallow!
One of the few down parkas that doesn't make you look like a big marshmallow! So unbelievably warm, but has great styling and actually manages to be flattering. After yesterday's deluge I'm thankful that it's waterproof and I don't have to worry about the down getting soaked.
Very comfortable, somewhat form fitting on the upper today, the winter white is a great color, and I've gotten compliments on how great it looks from complete strangers.
Have decided I can't wear it unless it's below 40 outside or else I'll end up overheating and sweating like crazy. Not a bad problem to have for a winter coat though!

Great coat!
I love this TNF Arctic Parka! It's very stylish compared to other options, and it's been keeping me warm so far in the Chicago witner. The small fits me perfectly. I also like the fact that the fur part of the hood is detachable.

Quality Product
Northface products a bit pricey but so far well worth the cost. I bought a Arctic Parka for my girlfriend and it definitely keeps her warm. The only issue that I had was the visual display made the coat seem more puffy. I also thought the hood would have a lot more fur. Ultimately, the coat does what it is supposed to do but I wish the visual display would give the consumer a more accurate view of the product.

Perfect for blustery winter days and nights!
This coat is amazing. Simply fantastic. It keeps you warm and toasty in wet snow, blustery snow and general freezing temperatures. The coat has a great canvas-like finish that repels water and the quilted down insides make this coat super light, but really good in any weather condition (during the winter). The coat fits a bit more narrow than it used to be (the black one is my second, i have a brown one from about 7 years ago). I wanted the black one because I find it's formal enough to wear over suits and dressier clothes than my brown one, but I needed it in a Medium. Overall, this is one of the best winter coats I have ever owned!

Great commuter coat
This is the perfect coat for waiting for the bus on a snowy winter morning. Water and windproof, it keeps out the elements. This newer version has much better sleeve cuffs. Only complaint is that the collar is uncomfortable when the hood is not up. Slim fit is very feminine. I'm 5'1" and 110 pounds and the XS fit well.

Good Cold Climate Coat
I live in Upstate New York and have been looking for a super warm coat for a while. I live in Rochester, NY and have to walk outside for about 10 minutes to and from work. In the past, even my warmest "business-lady" coat wasn't always warm enough. It has not been cold enough to really put it to the test as of yet, but it does feel quite warm. I am 5'7 and approximately 160lbs. I am about two sizes larger on the bottom so I ordered a medium and a large. I would so it fits true to size, if not slightly smaller. The large was quite big and while I know that a parka is not going to be the most figure flattering, it was very shapeless. The medium could probably be a little bit bigger around the hips, as I a pretty hippy, but is big enough and is definitely more flattering and is the one that I kept. I had read reviews that the arms were tight, but I have not found that and I would say that I have pretty average size arms. There is not a lot of room for big sweaters, but I am banking on the coat being warm so that I don't need to use a lot of layers. I am happy so far and am just waiting to test it in the depths of the Upstate New York winter.

Real Winter Jacket
I love this Jacket! I live in Chicago where the winters can be very cold, WINDY and wet and this jacket help keeps me warm and dry. Good fit, color and overall design. I recommend anyone who likes staying warm, dry and toasty get one! Also difficult to puncture and tear - a quality a klutz like me appreciates very much! The only problem is I wish it were a bit longer. I’m only 5.4 and my medium jacket should be a little longer.

Outstanding Parka
Bought this parka for my granddaughter, she's in school in very cold, rainy, snowy weather. Parka keeps her warm and toasty and is definately waterproof. Highly recommended.

Beautiful
I am from Australia and purchased this jacket to wear at Christmas in New York. There is nothing for sale like this in sunny Queensland. The jacket fits well and i love the press studs instead of the velcro. It is stylish and warm. Can't wait for you to get Black Jacket back in stock and I will purchase one for my daughter as well.

love this jacket
I bought this jacket for a trip to Canada and I'm so glad I did! I actually bought a different NorthFace Jacket and returned it because even in Los Angeles, I could feel the wind rip right through it during the night.
The next day I went onto Altrec and bought the Artic Parka based on the reviews. This jacket is so wonderful! I love the removable hoodie and lined pockets. It keeps out the wind, keeps me dry in the rain, and boy is it toasty. It also is breathable and very comfy to walk around in. It also doesn't make you look like you're a quilted marshmallow.
I am a true size four (USA) and the medium fits me PERFECTLY in the shoulders, arms, and length.
The only downside for me is that it doesn't have a drawstring at the waist to really make it fit you to a "t".
REGARDLESS: I would highly recommend this jacket

This is exactly what I was looking for in a winter coat: 3/4 length, down, water resistant/proof coat with a hood that didn't have visible baffles to avoid the "I just got inflated look." Very few available coats met all of those. It fits true to size (Large: ht 5 ft 6.5 in, 160 lb). If you are very broad through the shoulders, it might be a bit snug. There is not a lot of room for bulky clothing underneath but you probably would not need it with the warmth of this coat. The only thing that I find annoying is the bulk of the hood. It gets in the way while driving.

Great investment
I bought this coat after wearing a longer, quilt-looking one in college. I wanted something a little warmer that would last me throughout graduate school and beyond--I'm transitioning from a job to a Ph.D. program so I'm buying all of my pricier gear items before I become poor again! I'm very happy with my purchase (warm, waterproof, rugged, and will last a long time) with two caveats: (1) this was not as warm as I expected it to be. I live in Chicago and I expected to be overwhelmed by warmth at times, but that has not been the case. I suppose this is a good thing, as it's ultimately not good to be sweating in your coat, but it was not a gigantic upgrade from my previous coat. If you ever find yourself a little chilly, I've found that it really helps to zip the zipper up all the way; (2) the fur on the hood makes my hair really static-y, so I've just removed it. That has helped with my peripheral vision, also. Otherwise a great investment and I'll be wearing this for many years.

LOVE this jacket
I finally found exactly what I was looking for - warm, cute, durable and just above my knee and with a hood. I love this jacket. The fit and style are perfect. It is soooo warm and I do not look like the michelin man. I am petite (5'4) and unlike some winter coats, this one does not swallow me up. I also liked that the fur was detachable as I am not a trendy or flashy person, but I must admit that once I tried it on, the fur is actually quite cute.

Great!!
I ordre this parka for my trip in NYC, because thé température were very very low (about - 8).
It's my first northface parka and i'm not desappointed.
You can wear a thin sweat under and it's so warm and confortable!!!
I think it fits large. The size table indicates a médium size for me but i've ordered a small and it's ok.
It looks very pretty and for the 1 st time, i am warm but i dont look like a "bibendum"!!!
The altrec service havé been very good, my package has been delivered to my hôtel without any problems, and i've been able to follow the shipping and delivering on the web site.
I dont regret my parka and i recomend it!

Worth every penny!
I recently got this coat and it is so far the warmest coat ive ever purchased. At first I was worried that it wouldnt be warm because it is a rather lightweight coat but it is extremely warm! It does run a little close towards the bottom if you have hips that are a little wide so either order a size up or you have to unzip the bottom zip a tiny bit but other than that the coat is great. I would definitely recommend it to anyone!

Can't go wrong!
I received this coat just in time for the arctic blast and I cannot say enough how great it is. For a few years I have been wearing the NF600 down coat which I do love, however there were days when I felt the wind blow through me and had to wear multiple layers under it to stay warm. Problem solved with this coat! It is super warm and great that you stay dry in snow. I especially love the hood. It is toasty warm and the extended fur rim blocks the wind and snow very well. I did find that the size seems to run a bit bigger than the 600. I am 5'5" and 125lbs and wear the small in the arctic parka whereas with the 600 I am a medium.

perfect for michigan winters
I gave this coat to my wife for xmas. The first one I got was returned because it was too small. So, we bumped it up to the next size and it fits perfect. She loves the style, the warmth and the fact that it seems like it will last a lifetime. Can't say anything bad about the coat. It's great.

Just not for me
This is a great coat for someone that is on the taller side. I'm 5'3" and I looked awkward in this coat. The gathering in the back would have been better with buttons that you could adjust. That way I'd have some sort of Silhouette. Fyi, it also runs small. I typically wear a 6P but had to move up to a medium, and there wasn't much room underneath. My suit jacket would have been wrinkled by the time I got to work. You just have to order a size or two bigger depending on how loose you like your coats.

Fabulous Coat
I wear a Petite Size 6. I am 5'1'', weigh 107 lbs. and ordered a size Small. It fits great! Even though the sleeves are just a bit longer than a "Petite" size, it's not a problem or noticeable because of the inside band around the sleeve.
The coat is not bulky so you don't look like a puffy balloon. It's tailored for a female figure and accentuates the waistline. It's toasty warm so layering isn't necessary unless desired. If so, there's room for adding layers.
The arctic parka attracts lint but comes off easily with a lint brush or roller.

As all my other TNF products I have purchased this was an excellent purchase. I bought this for my S.O. and she loves it. Keeps her warm and dry. It would be better designed if the hood was detachable. All in all it is a very good coat.

The coat is uncomfortably warm indoors and very warm outside. I live in Chicago and it's a must have. I can't speak for how water proof it is, but I can tell you that it's warm and the hood and built in sleeves help keep in the heat.

great waterproof parka
before my winter trip to UK and Western Europe, i wanted to find a nice waterproof and warm stylish trenh coat. I was so glad when i found this one. I was a bit hesitant as it's an expensive one and I already have a ski parka. But after careful research and tons of reviews, i knew i will enjoy this coat. I was amazed by the quality of the coat when i got it and checked out every stich and zipper! Awesome Jacket
This jacket does live up to its name! I do alot of walking in the winter and I needed a jacket that was warm enough for those icy cold winter days. The lenght is perfect and keeps my lower half especially warm and the fur around the hood blocks the heavy snowfall. I am very pleased with my purchase.

Great purchase
I love this coat. I bought this at a Small because it seemed a bit big, but afterwards I realized I should have ordered a Medium, it fits a bit snug and is hard to move in if you get it too small. As far as warmth it is a GREAT coat. I'm ALWAYS cold and this coat keeps me warm. I still have to wear my Kumba fleece underneath, but that's just because i'm ALWAYS freezing. However, this is not bad because i've purchased high end coats that even with a sweater underneath I'm still Freezing. Oh, I work in downtown Chicago, so it's FREEZING down there and this coat along with the fleece and I feel NOTHING! I LOVE IT. Born and raised in Chicago with the brutal weather and this is just what I've always needed. I've had this coat for a year and it looks BRAND NEW, so it holds up well as well.

Lovely
Great for full length, had to size up from XS to Small as the shoulders felt tight and this is the only North Face item I've ever purchased where I've had to size up, fitted well everywhere else, however felt like I was being strangled with the XS. Love the North Face gear, perfect for all climates and well made, I would suggest anyone who usually takes and XS to go to Small on this parka. Thanks.

What happened?
I've purchased this parka a few years ago and it was the best $300 I've ever spent. I decided to buy a new one in a different color. What a surprise... this parka is now considerably THINNER. There's no way it will be as warm as the one I purchased before. It is a beautiful parka, but I guess the quality has gone down.

Warm in NYC
This jacket is well worth the $300. If you can find a sale, even better! Warm, functional, and true to size. I'm tall with broad shoulders and it fit me perfectly, even the length. The Hy-vent outer layer really does a great job fending off the sleeting rain. This coat gets lots of looks and compliments. It's the best coat I've ever owned.

Heavy Waterproof Down Coat
This is a super heavy duty storm coat. I live in MA and have a toddler so I am not only walking outside, but walking very slowly outside. The upsides are: the waterproof outer fabric so that it can be freezing rain and you are not ruining your coat, the zip on zip off fur--other fur trims are snap on, and this one works well, the super deep hood can be folded back or put out straight like a visor. It also shows off your waist even though this is a heavy, thick coat. The downsides are: the sticky zipper, no snaps if don't want to zip, its heavy--you can't just stick it under your arm and carry it around a shopping mall. The biggest down side is that the arm seams around the shoulders are super tight compared to the rest of the jacket. I am normally a medium and sized up to a large to fit sweaters underneath. I am thinking that my arms need an extra large...and I am a fit, slim, 5'10 figure?

Warm and toastie
Just got this coat a couple of days ago, but it's pretty warm so far. When I took it out of the packaging it was very staticy, I got black so every piece of lint sticks to it, I will need to deal with that?? I have also been having some issues with the zipper, since it's a 2 way zipper you really need to make sure you get it all the way down or it won't zip, it gets a little frustrating and I think if North Face used a more solid zipper it work better. I'm about a size 6 and a medium fit just right... but if you have long arms I would definitely try before you buy. Oh an another thing, it didn't matter to me, but the hood doesn't come off. The fake fur does zip off. Despite the minor issues I think it will do the trick in 40 below weather, it's not the Canada Goose but it is also a few hundred dollars cheaper...

So Far So Good
I haven't worn it in the snow yet but it fits great and I love the way it looks. Very Stylish! I'm usually a size 4-6. I got a medium and its perfect. Big enough to wear a sweater under it, not too tight or bulky.

Very warm + dog fur magnet
This coat seemed to be very warm with an excellent, wind proof outer shell plus the cushy soft down interior. The problem is that this was intended to be my dog walking coat. If you have animals anywhere near this coat, you will be covered in fur. The shape was also a little awkward. I am 5'4"/115 and I looked as though I were playing dress up in the small. Xsmall would have been too small. Summary: Great warmth (as far as I can tell), but will attract anything remotely resembling fur and fit awkwardly on my frame. I have seen it fit beautifully on others who were taller.

great coat, especially for those new to winter
I just moved to Chicago and headed to the north face store to ask for the warmest jacket-and they recommended this one. As of now (December), I could not ask for a better coat. From someone used to very warm climates, this coat keeps me warm down its entire length. The only drawback is its length, which could be longer...but if you have high boots it may not be an issue. And Altrec's service and customer service is very well worth it.

A+ Northface Jacket
When I'm in my jacket I feel as if I've rolled out of one bed and into another. It's comfortable and I haven't shivered once since I got it. It's worth the $300. I would have preferred to have paid less, but I'd say the price is right on because of the quality material and construction. I like the various pockets. I like that the zipper goes all the way up to my neck which keeps the air out. And I really like the hood ... it's adorable. Size wise, I got a medium. At 5'8 and 136 lbs I find there's plenty of room for layering, but I don't really need to b/c of it's warmth. The sleeves are on the short side, but my limbs are a bit on the long side. My jacket has gathered a lot of lint in the past week and I'm not sure why that is ... a lint remover would take care of it. All in all, I like the jacket. And it's what I know to wear when temperatures are 40 degrees or lower.

The parka is great...delivery was prompt. We are having 30 degree weather and I am warm as toast. Only issue, would be nice to have a removable hood and one extra snap to tighten wrists.

poor fit
I usually wear a medium in a North face jacket, but I wanted the ability to layer so I ordered a large and it felt smaller than a medium. Also, the way the zipper was designed made for a less than smooth closure. Had to send it back...

Great make, poor fit
While the quality of this coat is excellent--it's super warm, really well-made, nice pockets, offers a clean non-puffer silhouette, and it's waterproof to boot, BUT it's definitely an odd fit. There is a lot of room in the chest (as if the fit model had fake boobs) and the arms are set strangely, so that there is an excess of fabric around the shoulders and armholes. Because of this, I am returning it (I ordered a Medium, I am a size 6-8), though it's super cute and would deliver on warmth, it's just not a good fit. I'm not sure if the Small would be a better fit, as it's out of stock.

Great warm parka, I ordered a medium first because of the reviews but had to return it for a small. I am 5'3 average build. I wanted something that was fitted so I did not feel like I was wearing a huge parka.

WARM AND COMFY
I live in NYC and recently it has been pretty freezing here! It seemed that every jacket I purchased, never did the trick of keeping me warm, no matter how many layers I put on. I finally decided to purchase the northface artric parka in new taupe. The jacket feels like you are walking in a big warm conformter. It keeps you so warm, you don't even need to layer! I definitley recommend this jacket to anyone who lives in a cold climate environment. the The lenghth is perfect to keep your legs warm and its stylish too.

This is a great coat!
As someone who is always cold, and worse in the winter months, I was constantly on the lookout for a really really warm down coat. Oh, yes, and one that didn't make me look like a linebacker. When someone suggested that this coat would fit my bill, I was skeptical. The store she suggested had some and I tried the coat on. great overall
this is definitely as warm as everyone says. but... the fur trim is what detaches. Not the whole hood itself. Therefore, there's no inner collar, and the hood hangs begind your neck, and so you need to wear a scarf in order for the back of your neck not to freeze off! Stylish coat, warm, no doubt. That's the one thing I'd re-design if I could.

A good fit for me
I found this coat online and liked the way it looked and knew from the down percentage that it would be warm. I live in Connecticut where the weather constantly changes. I first bought the large but it did not allow room for a large sweater so I returned it and got an extra large. It totally fits perfectly and I love it. Be careful when ordering since the sizes fit true to form. I just don't know if it can be used professionally and casually. I have only used it casually and don't know how it would look with business atire.

Well worth the purchase -
With subzero temps in Chicago, I was concerned that this coat wouldn't be warm enough. It is! The sizing is good, as I wear an 8-10 jacket due to broad shoulders and back. The medium fits fine and I can even fit a light sweater under it. This type of coat does not need layering...it's toasty all on its own. Great purchase.

Great coat
Great product. Arrived in good time. Free shipping was wonderful. I got a small and it was just a tad bit big on me (I normally wear women's size 1); however, I'm not sure if I would have gotten an XS just to have ample room for sweaters and layering underneath. Altrec is reliable. I will be purchasing from them again.

Finally - a stylish winter coat that really is warm!
I'd almost given up on finding a stylish, non-ski down parka that would provide great warmth. But this coat has it all. It's super warm and has a very flattering cut. My only wish is that its hood was detachable. Other than that, it's a great coat.

Great coat but the size runs small
This is a great coat. Fits well and is very warm. Only caution is it seems to run small. I am typically a medium but purchased a large coat so I could layer sweatshirts, etc. The jacket fits well and hugs your frame for extra warmth, but there is not a lot of layering room.

Beautiful until you wash it
This is no doubt a beautiful jacket. It fits well, breathes well and isn't bulky. The problem occurs when you wash it. I washed it exactly as described and the fur trim got destroyed because it's not detatchable. Now I have to spend more money shipping it back to TNF so they can replace the trim. So, if you plan on never washing this jacket it'll be perfect for you. If not, you may end up with a $299.99 lemon.

Stylish & Perfect for the Weather!!
The Arctic Parka is perfect for the Chicago weather! I live downtown Chicago right off the lake, next door to the "Hawk" himself, and this parka makes living with him much more bearable. Altrec's service is absolutely amazing and I am 110% happy with my purchase!

Wise Investment - Buy Early - Fast seller
Best insulated down coat I've ever bought! I live in the Toronto area (which is damp and cold) and have been coveting this coat for over a year now, for two reasons: one, not all stores carry this style and two, it sells out FAST (I bought mine in Oct/2007)! Even on the coldest, windiest of days, I can easily wear a t-shirt with confidence knowing that my coat will keep me warm. In fact, it keeps me so warm, that sometimes I'm actually sweating! Not only do I looove my coat in Brownie Brown, but so does everyone else! While the 3/4 length is great, it's a pity TNF doesn't make it in a longer length like the Triple C. I also advise that you buy one size up, as this will allow you to wear bulkier items in comfort.
