Excellent wind jacket
November 08, 2011
I have had mixed results on buying NF jackets. Sometimes they are too short for my torso. However, this one as an XS fit me perfectly (5'6" and 125 lbs). It is a bit bunchy at the bottom with the elastic, but it moves well and otherwise is quite comfortable.
Pros: Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Cons: Costawsome purchace!

Love my northface cipher jacket. Lite weight, but wind proof and water resistant. Great for outdoor actities in the spring here in the pacific northwest. It runs a little large. Thats o.k because it allows me to wear a swearshirt under when temps are a little cooler. The shipping was super fast!

I've only used this jacket twice so far for bike riding which the wind stopper is great for but the weather has taken a little turn for the worse so waiting to wear it again. It is comfortable, I bought it a little large but I think it true to size. My husband thinks it's so nice, now I am shopping for one for him!
Pros: Great designGreat Jacket

I was looking for a practical, wind-resistant, comfortable jacket I could wear running and also doing errands. I purchased the cipher jacket and love it. It is very comfortable and not as stiff as other jackets I have tried. It has a sheek, form fitting look. The first day I wore I received several compliments. I got a small and am 5'4 115..it fit great..sleeves were perfect and I liked the cut in the bottom of the jacket as well. The customer service from the live chat was excellent as I had some questions on sizing and material was I contemplating placing the order.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use, Great value, Cons: didn't love the red summit series on the sleeveHighly functional but not too comfy...

My wife tried this jacket in her search for a thin, sleek, wind protective black soft shell. It is pretty stylish and definitely thin but the stretchy material almost feels too stretchy/rubbery and the lining doesn't give much softness. The fabric on the Apex Bionic for example feels more thick/substantial. The jacket is pretty warm but the kicker is that it is basically windproof. She liked it but decided to go with the North Face Ruby Raschel which is warmer and softer but still pretty good with wind. Also, she is normally a size small but the arms and chest were baggy in this and she needed the extra small.
