goooooooooood.....

I hike over uneven ground including wetlands/wet areas for my work and these boots are perfect. They are light enough to wear both in the office and out in the field. My feet stay dry walking through wet grass and boggy areas but they are cool and breathable.
good fit, stiff soles
July 24, 2012
These are well constructed hikers that fit my foot fairly well. The problem that led me to return them is that the soles are so stiff that after 2-2.5 hours of mountain trail hiking my forefeet were anywhere from very unconfortable to in screaming pain, depending on the surface at any moment. So, for those with well-worn or sensitive feet, I'd look elsewhere. Btw, in a store today that carries quite a few brands, including North Face and the Hedgehog, the salesman, himself a frequent hiker, did a manual flex test and judged them a good 7 out of 10 on the stiffness scale. He noted that they felt relative stiff to him, that the thickness of the sole means not much softening, and that for a shoe of this type that 7 is high.
Great Price for Goretex

I use these shoes daily for dog walking and hiking. The foot beds are really comfortable. I have used the NF Hedge Hog for the last few years. The III is a great shoe and I would recommend them. I wear them in all weather conditions and my feet always stay dry. Keep up the good work NF!!!
Pros: sturdy, waterproof, laces stay tiedThis is my 4th pair!

Love the shoes and am on my 4th pair. I walk rain, snow or shine three miles a day on a county road. These shoes never let me down. The sole provides great traction on uneven trails when in the mountains hiking or when walking down the gravel road covered in snow. I have foot issues and can't wear just any shoe. These provide great support with plenty of room in the toe box. I have recommended these shoes to many a friend!
Pros: room in toe box, great traction, Cons: noneWrite a review for the The North Face Hedgehog III GTX XCR Hiking Shoes here.
Great shoes

I've only worn these on the street, but I love the great support and heel cushions - and the fact that they are very lightweight. I need shoes that breath, and these seem fairly good on that count (I am in Trinidad where it's very hot). My feet are extra wide so I bought a half size above my normal size, and they are fine in the width. It remains to be seen how waterproof they are, but so far, I think these hiking shoes are just what I was looking for.
Pros: lightweight, heel cushion, fitQuality Hiker

This is an excellent quality shoe as far as I can see. Unfortunately, it didn't fit my foot. The shoe has a fairly narrow front, a wide-ish heel, and not a lot of arch support. My foot has the opposite shape, so I have to return them. It's a shame, because I love the khaki/red color, great cushioning and durable look of them. Was very impressed with the quality.
Pros: excellent quality, nice colors, great style, durable, Cons: not a lot of arch support, narrow front, wide heelDurable pair of shoes

I normally wear a size 5 in shoes but based on reviews I bought a these shoes 1/2 size bigger in case I want to wear thicker socks for long and cold hikes. It didn't long to break them in, I wore them around the house for 30 minutes and a week later took them to Grand canyon with me. Due to the heat I frequently ran under a water faucet to cool my core temperature down and within a couple minutes my sneakers were dry and my socks were never wet. After a long 7 hot hours i came out with only a baby blister on my toe probably due to thin socks. Definitely will wear it with my next hike.
Good, but not as good as before

This is my second pair of these shoes. My first pair was my go-to shoe for long daily dog walks, travel, and any kind of activity where I needed sturdy but comfortable footwear. After several years and many miles, I finally wore through all the layers in the soles and had to purchase a replacement. I guess I didn't realize that they had updated the shoe, but the new version is not quite as perfect for me. The major difference is that the toebox is more narrow, and after a mile or so, my toes feel squashed and my whole foot starts to hurt. I guess I should have ordered a half size larger. I usually wear an 8 or a 8.5. I ordered these in a 8.5 but wonder if I should have ordered a 9, or if my feet are just too wide for the new style. I still like the shoes, but I often find myself reaching for my (now more comfortable) running shoes instead of these.
Pros: waterproof!, durable, Cons: narrow toeboxNovember 20, 2012
I had a pair of these from a few seasons ago and I loved them so I thought I'd get a new version of my old pair. They took a little bit to break in, got some blisters at first. But after breaking them in I really like them.
EXCELLENT ITEM!

I am already a huge FAN of North Face but these shoes are the bomb. They are beyond comfortable. I am thrilled with them and would recommend to anyone who likes to hike and work outside!!
