I love this coat! When it first arrived, it seemed so thin that I didn't think that it would be very warm. But then I wore it outside on a windy 30-degree day, with a sweatshirt underneath, and I was actually a little -too- warm! Then I wore it the next day (also around 30 and windy) with only a t-shirt under it, and I was completely warm. I've now had it for a couple of weeks and wore it during the weekend storm we just had, and was impressed by how cozy it was (and I tend to be cold all the time, so that's saying a lot). Definitely the warmest winter coat I've ever owned. And it looks great!

I love this jacket. I can play outside with my kids in the snow, but I can throw it on over a nice outfit and it still looks wonderful. It is incredibly light, but incredibly warm, too. It is perfect for so many uses.

I have heard great things about North Face, so I bought this coat as it seems to be all that I was looking for in a winter coat. I have not tried it outside yet as it is summer and I bought it for a winter coat. My only issue is that the sleeves were way too long, so I will have to have them shortened, which I have not had to do before. Otherwise, I believe I will enjoy this coat.

Bought this jacket for my wife at Christmas. She keeps saying how amazed she is at how thin it is and how warm it keeps her. It is Five degrees in Chicago, right now, so that says a great deal. Great jacket and looks awesome on her.

This coat is incredibly lightweight but keeps you incredibly warm - warm even in Yellowknife, Canada where the day temperatures were minus 20C. Most impressive. Definitely one of the best winter coats I have owned thus far. But the zips & ziplock system are quite fragile as compared to my Land's End coat -I tried not to use zip too often as buttoning up the coat suffices. Occasionally loose feathers does pop out between the seams of the coat - not a deal breaker for me.

I bought this coat for my daughter, so I do not have a lot I can say. When the coat arrived, my daughter packed it up with all her stuff to leave for Boston. I saw the coat only for a minute. It looks very nice, is very lightweight, and is supposed to keep people warm even in very cold weather. I will find out from my daughter this winter how well it works.

This is an updated version of product my wife has had before and therefore wanted to have again when the old one wore out after several years' wear. She liked the sleeker, slimmer silhouette of the newer North Face coat as well as the color which, while still subdued, stands apart a little from a sea of black down coats. There was still sufficient room for another layer for extremely cold weather. This should stand her in good stead for a few more winters to come

This is very lightweight and very warm. It is a snug fit. I bought three for gift. Two daughters loved the snug fit; one wanted it looser. Another daughter ordered one after trying it on. It's a winner!

I was looking for a warm coat for my first Boston winter that didn't look ugly. This coat is great. I love the blue color and it is fitted. It is really warm, I usually start sweating immediately when I walk indoors wearing it. I can wear it with just a t-shirt under it when I walk to the gym. Also, I got it for $50 less than it is in the stores!

I am 5'6" and about 135 lbs. I love this jacket. It fits well and covers till the knees. The jacket is not very poofy and looks like the seams are not going to rip. I did a lot of research before buying this jacket and thought that this was the best purchase for the price. The only thing that I don't like in this jacket is that there is no waist line. The jacket just falls straight. I think all the parkas are kind of like that. Overall, I am very happy with the purchase. I wish it was a little cheaper.

I am perpetually cold living here on the shores of Lake Michigan in the wintertime. This coat was the ideal purchase...it keeps me warm in any weather and is always my coat of choice when the temperatures drop below 10 degrees! The fit is good, leaving room for layering. The coat is also lightweight enough to make it comfortable enough for all day wear. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a warm down jacket.

This is a perfect coat for blustery winter days in the Midwest. My wife loves it; no need for layering and easy to throw on when heading out with the kids. Only issue my wife had was the sleeve length - way too long. She cuffed them once but we'll have them shortened for this winter.

Overall, I love this coat - it is lightweight and yet very warm even in the cold MN weather! Unfortunately, the double zipper sticks and is difficult to use but I think it is a unique situation isolated to my coat. I called Altrec customer svce and they are making it easy for me to return the product. I'm a bit disappointed that I could not do a simple exchange as I'm now concerned I won't receive the good price I had received prior the Christmas.... my size is currently back ordered so time will tell how the rest of my return and repurchase actually work. this is my first purchase with Altrec and to date, I've been very pleased with their service.

This coat is absolutely wonderful! I teach preschool and we go out on the playground every day in the winter (as long as it's above 17). Also, I have rods and pins in my hips and femur from surgery, which are very sensitive to the cold. This coat keeps me warm and my hips don't hurt! It's absolutely wonderful and I would recommend it to anyone! It was 38 and sunny the other day and I was actually a bit warm (and I'm always cold!).

This is a great coat--warm enough, covers a lot of your body, still looks somewhat sleek and comes in lovely colors. My only complaint is it is still too big. I am a petite size, 5'1" and 107 pounds, and I wish the coat was more form fitting. I wanted it to look more sophisticated so it could be worn for work or play. Maybe one day North Face will make an XXS since all clothing sizes seem to be getting bigger!

It keeps me warm. It looks great in grey. I can dust the snow (and we get lots of it here in Western NY) off my car without worrying about my work clothes underneath. The small size is perfect for me (5'5", 125 lbs), even with a suit jacket or layers underneath.

Finally broke down and ordered the North Face Metropolis. Altrec was the only online store that had the size/color I wanted. The coat is perfect and worth every penny. I wasn't sure about the size (I'm 5'5", 125 lbs.) but S is perfect. Lightweight yet very warm, and looks as good as a full-length down coat can possibly look. Now I'm ready for more sub-zero temps, bring it on!

I got tired of layering a fleece, a sweater and a baselayer shirt every day in the winter, so I decided to buy this coat. It is even better than I had expected: it kept me perfectly warm during Tennessee's recent unusually cold winter (temps in the morning around 10 Fahrenheit), and I usually walk about a mile to work every morning. Even better, when the temperatures went up into the 40's, I could still wear this coat without sweating: it's very breathable and comfortable. A very good value!

The coat is so warm and very light weight. I usually take a medium and this was a perfect fit. Just enough room for a layering piece underneath, but coat does not look bulky at all. It's just what I need for a midwest winter.
