NOT a ski Jacket
January 11, 2013
I previously owned a plasma and always loved the warmth but it was too large on me. I bought the women's medium to replace it and I have to say this is a phenomenal jacket if your intent is to do anything in it but ski. The hood is incredibly small, and even though it is marketed as "helmet-compatible" it does not comfortably fit a ski helmet. It also lacks many features in the North Face ski line like a powder skirt, appropriate sized hood, lycra comfort cuff, roomy pockets to stow gear, etc. If you are looking for a winter version of an around the town leather jacket, this is it. But it is not a great choice as a ski jacket.
Pros: Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Cons: Bad design, very small hoodFebruary 06, 2012
The jacket is light, yet warm. I love the pit vents, when the sun comes put it adds just enough ventalation to maintain comfort. The fit was as expected, with enought room for a sweater on cooler days.
Pros: Build quality, PerformanceGood buy

I bought this jacket for my wife, and she has been very satisfied with the product. Although a bit expensive, it is super warm, yet very light. I would definitely recommend this product.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of usePerfect

This is a jacket for all winter long. Single shell jacket, so you dont have to mess with layers. Perfect for the New England winters. Warm enough for the coldest days, and will keep you dry. Don't be fooled if it looks light weight. The hood removes with ease. And stylish enough for anywhere. Great Buy! My wife loves it.

I love this jacket. I've worn this in all sorts of conditions: rainy/windy season, snowed-in on the mountains of Southern Africa, etc. It's very durable, comfortable and kept me alive during extreme weather conditions. However, I wish that Northface would fix the velcro problem that seems to be common amongst other reviewers. The velcro sticks itself onto the Northface logo ALL the time. As a result, I have a fuzzy, bushy, white "logo" on the corner of my jacket. And yes, scarves get stuck on it, constantly making it difficult to wear layers comfortably. Grrrr, it is perfect except for that velcro around the neck. Needs to be better placed or tucked in!
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Cons: Bad design, velcroDid you recently buy the The North Face Plasma Thermal Jacket? Write a review.
AMAZING FEEL
December 24, 2008
I haven't bought this jacket yet, but have tried it on a few times at the North Face store in hope to buy it soon. But wow, this jacket is soo comfortable on the inside. Very soft, and warm inside unlike a lot of the other North Face jackets where it's really stiff and you can't help but be annoyed by the pit vents that crawl up your armpits...Highly recommended for comfort.
great for subzero temp

I wore this jacket with just a cotton sweater underneath while it was -19 F out, and i felt just fine! This is my first winter ever, and I came from a tropical country! This jacket lessens my regret in ever moving to Minnesota. :-)
Workhorse on College Campus
November 27, 2012
After a month of walking several miles on campus each day, my college student finally decided she needed (1) a rain coat and (2) a non-puffy winter jacket. We decided to see if we could find one jacket that met both requirements. TNF Plasma Thermal Jacket fits the bill perfectly -- protecting against ALL elements: water, wind & cold. Plus, breathable, lightweight and stylish, too!
Pros: Build quality, PerformanceNice fit but meant for spring or autumn weathers only

Good: Light, nice fit. Bad: Meant for spring/autumn(50F to 65F). Not useful for cold temperatures.
Nice Jacket

The jacket is very nice, light weight, and warm but I'm not too crazy about all the velcro. It sticks to my sweaters and scarf when it rubs against them.
Great Jacket!

If you are looking for a WARM jacket this is it. It definitely keeps you warm and its not heavy. The perfect winter jacket with a ton of pockets which I love.
Ran a little big for me.

Loved the jacket but it was too big. I have had a jacket like this and lost it so I am try to replace it. Love the light weight feel of this jacket. I would recommend it.

This jacket is extremely lightweight for the warmth it provides. Taking out of the package, I thought it felt more like a thick raincoat...but after trying it on, I began to overheat (indoors) pretty quickly. I've had it for about a month and a half now and am very happy with the purchase. It doesn't get very cold where I live, but I can say that it does its job in temps down to the mid 30s (with just a t-shirt on underneath). I would have to guess that a couple layers along with this jacket would keep you warm in freezing temps. Fit: I'm 5' 9", 125 lbs and a small fits perfectly. My height is mostly in my legs though...if my arms were any longer, I'd probably go with a medium just for the sleeve length.
Great Jacket!

This is a great jacket that provides warmth and it is light, not like some jackets that can have a lot of bulk. To me it runs on the small side especially if you have a lighter layer underneath, you might want to size up.
nice wind/water proof, insulated jacket

Overall it's a very nice jacket. Fits good, warm, good looking jacket. One thing that I don't like is the wrist adjustments on the two sleeves. It's a plastic flap with velcro to tighten the fit of your wristband. For me having a small wristband, it looks wierd to have them folded so much to fit my wrist on eacn side.

This is a great product. The down insulation makes it very light and very warm. Waterproof exterior is great in wet conditions. We have two of them (men's and women's) and we would definitley recommend.
Pros: Build quality, Performance, Great designBest Winter Jacket

This jacket is absolutely amazing. You could go with a t-shirt + this jacket and it'll could handle 20's. This jacket is very comfortable that's very soft, thin and lightweight. Also its amazing that it is wind proof and water resistance. This jacket also has amazing features such as the Pitt Zip and a removable hood. You can use this anywhere that get extremely cold with lots of snow, wind and freezing rain. The best thing is that it has lifetime warranty! It is totally worth the money and I'm very happy with this purchase.
Pros: Great design, Great value, comfortable, lightweight, warmAwesome All Weather Jacket

Bought this for my wife too keep her dry on those nasty cold rainy days in manhattan and for when we go away to vermont/adirondacks. Overall, this is really a great jacket. She loves the breathability of it, and says it's as warm as her "fancy" non-north face parka (which is down) but a lot more breathable. We just had this outside in 20 degree weather with really strong winds and she noticed how useful a jacket like this really is. Since she did not have a "non-fancy"/casual winter jacket, this was perfect. Would highly recommend it. Btw, it is stylish and has a nice fit. She is 5'5, 130 lbs, fit, athletic, (strong arms/shoulders) and a small fits her nicely. Hope that helps.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use, Great value, great fitExcelent product

This is a great jacket, The windproof is excellent, the same with the waterproof. I recomend this product 100%. I have the same for men and it's great, for the Chilean winter I recomend it. Here in winter it's almost 8 degrees Celsius. I test it on Europe and waas great too.
Pros: Great design, Performance, Great valueSecond Time Around

I purchased a North Face Plasma jacket a couple of years ago and have been extremely pleased with it. I absolutely love the perma loft insulation. The jacket is waterproof and warm in the coldest of weather and is extremely lightweight. It is so nice going out in the winter without having to put a really heavy jacket on in order to keep warm. I live in an area that is pretty cold in the winter time and I like to wear sweatshirts a lot. I purchased the second jacket in a bigger size so that I could easily slide it over my sweatshirts should I want to wear one wherever I am going. The smaller size is perfect for when I'm out shopping. It provides me with warmth when I'm outdoors, but I'm not a sweatball when I'm walking around in the store. I LOVE both my jackets!
Solid overall

Bought it for the wife for Christmas. She loves it and keeps her warm waiting for the train north of Boston in temperatures that can be as low as 10 degrees on any day of the week.
It's a wonderful Jacket

Good jacket. Typical of TNF quality and fit. Careful, the white/light grey color scheme is actually more like white/carbon. A great jacket for the ski slopes or light mountaineering.
