Description

Ideal in dry, freezing conditions, The North Face Redpoint Jacket for women features warm and fast-drying PrimaLoft® Eco fabric. Unlike some casual outdoor jackets that take up plenty of packing space, the women's Redpoint is exceptionally compressible and ideal for domestic and international winter travel. While water resistant, The North Face Redpoint Jacket for women is ideally suited as a thermal insulating layer in rain, sleet or extremely windy conditions. That's why The North Face made their Redpoint Jackets Zip-in compatible with identically-sized shells and lightweight jackets from The North Face. Unlike some jackets made for the backcountry, the Redpoint emphasizes urban and suburban utility--there are two zippered handwarmer pockets and a pocket on the chest next to the full-length zipper. The entire jacket also neatly stows inside the chest pocket for convenient portability. There's also a cinch cord at the hem that helps retain thermal warmth around your core.

This jacket is convenient , comfortable, & warm!
January 14, 2012

I have been wearing this jacket for about 6 months now & I couldn't be more please with this product. It's light weight, incredibly warm, & convenient. I work long hours & have a very busy schedule & the last thing I want to concern myself with is what jacket will I wear for the day. I can always count on the Redipoint Jacket to provide everything I need to tackle my day. I love the soft face of the jacket paired with a warm interior that allows for great mobility. I never feel to restricted or overly bulky while wearing it. It is very warm and adapts to those extreme chilly days. Great buy, I would certainly recommend it!

cozy?
March 16, 2012

I was looking for a puffer jacket that was affordable and lightweight and I believe that this jacket fits that description. I'm about 5'3" and 130 lbs so i ordered the small, my hips are slightly bigger than all of my friends' and this jacket was just a bit snug at the hips but not so much that it constricts movement or becomes uncomfortable. If you want to wear more than one layer then I would suggest sizing up. The neck part was also a bit tight and uncomfortable when I first tried on my jacket but I found that as I wore it more often the snugness went away. The jacket keeps me warm so long as I'm moving (I usually only wear a t-shirt or a thin longsleeve underneath), but since it is a lightweight jacket (or it could just be me, I'm often very cold no matter what in 30-50 degree weather) I do feel an occasional chill, thus the minus one star. Overall I would have to say it's completely worth my investment.

Perfect coat
March 17, 2012

This is the second Redpoint jacket I've purchased. I've been wearing the first one for about five years and wanted a different color. I love warmth but not bulk and this jacket is perfect for our cold, damp (and wet) Seattle weather. I like down but I LOVE the Primaloft because it's not bulky. I'm thrilled to discover this website because the prices are great and the package was delivered so quickly.

So far so good!
June 14, 2011

I just purchased the jacket for a backpacking trip I'm taking around the world. I need something lightweight (to fit in the pack) but warm (will be going to Moscow in November, Climbing Everest Base Camp, and Antarctica). Although this jacket won't work alone for all my temperature changes, it layers great with another NF jacket I have, and I think the two together will be just right. Definitely lightweight (although I can't figure out how it's supposed to ball up into it's own pocket for travel...but aparently there is a way!). Definitley recommend the product!

Pros: Great value

November 12, 2012

I am 5' 4'' 120 pounds and the size small jacket fits just fine, with room for a few thinner layers underneath! Very light weight but keeps me very warm in the chilly Northern California weather. I am concerned that the quality of the material may easily end up getting torn, but as for now a warm, good investment.

I have gotten numerous compliments on my jacket. I've worn it in 30/40 degree weather with a sweater underneath and it keeps me warm, sometimes too warm. I love how how it has deep pockets, and the cut and style are flattering. It's not as bulky as other jackets.

March 09, 2007

I just received the jacket today and it looks great. What you see is what you get just like the picture. It does seems a little big but is fine since the colder day when you bundle up will be perfect.

comfortable and sooo cute
February 10, 2007

The first time I tried on this jacket after it arrived, I didn't want to take it off! It is extremely soft and warm for being so lightweight. Purchased a size large (I'm a size 10/12, bigger in the hips), and it was flattering... great length, and not too tight or too loose. The Captiva Pink is very pretty as well. Unfortunately, there was a small tear on the front of the jacket when I received it... so I didn't wear it on the mountain and therefore can't comment on performance. Will exchange it for something more durable, but am very sad because this one was so darn cute! Still 4 stars for fit/comfort, great pockets, and appearance.

Great Jacket!
January 26, 2012

I bought this for my daughter who is a freshman at college up north. She absolutely loves it. We werent sure whether it would really be warm enough since it is very light weight, but she was pleasantly surprised. She wore it in 30 degree weather in snow and it kept her warm and dry. She is 5'7" wears an 8 or 10 and the large fit her perfectly with room for layers. The only downside is that it does not have a hood.

My Initiation into The North Face
April 11, 2012

I'd really wanted something from The North Face. I found this jacket and was smitten. I went for black because it goes with everything in my closet. I'm rather tall at 5' 10" and on the slim side at 140, so I wasn't sure which way to go sizewise. I went with the large, mostly because I wanted to make sure the arm length was adequate. (It was.) I figured if it was a bit large on top, that would be okay because I would most likely wear layers or scarves. It's super lightweight, yet extremely warm. I love it -- and so does my 6' tall 16-year-old daughter!

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Great value, it's the north face!

my favorite light insulated climbing jacket
May 01, 2012

I have several of these jackets, which I use regularly for multipitch trad climbing. The oldest is ~6 months. I'm hard on climbing clothes/packs, but these jackets have held up well to abrasion in chimneys and offwidths. The Primaloft is a bit less lofty after repeat washings, but that's typical. I also like the fact I can pack the jacket into its pocket and hang it off my harness or stuff it into my pack.

Pros: Great design, durability

Not so cute
April 04, 2012

I was hoping this would be one of those soft, cute sweater type down jackets that you could layer or just wear around town. The problem with this one is first off it is a bit stiff, which may change with age, and secondly the sleeves don't have any stitching like the rest of the jacket so they look bigger and a little weird. My husband just said "not so cute".

Great Jacket for Layering
September 25, 2010

I purchased this one size larger, so I might layer it over my North Face fleece. This jacket is practical, well-made, works perfectly, keeps me warm and is easy to remove when I feel warmer. It's not as "stylish" as other jackets, but at my age, I'm not looking for young women's styles!

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use, Great value, Cons: not for those who want something stylish

Very Warm Lightweight Jacket
March 27, 2012

I bought this same Jacket 3 years ago in the Eco Green Color. It is still going strong. The only reason I bought another one was because it was 50% off. Now I have another one for Back-up. I use it to ride in and do my Horse Chores From September to April. It is Very Lightweight and easy to move around in. Very warm with a layer underneath for the winter and just enough without a layer underneath in the Spring and Fall. I am in the Northeast where we get cold wet winters. This jacket is very durable !!! as I am very hard on my chore clothes. Easy wash and dry. It runs true to size. I am normally a small in the NorthFace but I bought a Medium so I could fit a couple of layers underneath.. The cut is nice , a little longer in the back which works well in keeping your back warm and very flattering. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this Jacket. Buy it... you won't be diapponted.

Ordered my Redpoint jacket on Thursday and received it on Tuesday, very fast delivery. The price was the best and this jacket is the perfect light weight jacket. I am 5'8" and 150 lbs and the large fits perfect. Love the fact that the jacket in the back drops just a bit over my back end. Considering purchasing another in a different color. I high recommend this jacket you will not be disappointed!! Thank you Altrec!!

Well Fitted Transitional Jacket
December 02, 2008

This is a great, compact jacket that can be used in transitional weather. Despite its light weight, it offers warm insulation and protects well from the wind (although it may not be substantial enough in very cold conditions). It also provides a nice, slim fit without looking bulky.

Comfy jacket for sure, but I'll be layering it with my North Face fleece because I don't think it will be warm enough in January/February on its own (not for long periods of time outside anyway). The left pocket is weird because the jacket actually folds up inside the pocket, which is like a little bag for it. Strange. I won't be using it that way, but I guess that's great for people who want to take it hiking/backpacking. So that's the only annoying feature, but I don't care as long as my hands stay warm.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use, Great value

Fantastic!
October 14, 2011

This jacket is fantastic. The fit is very flattering, even to us curvy girls! Very warm, without being too thick and bulky. Works great as an outer layer for cool-cold outdoor weather and can be stuffed and packed in it's own built in bag (incorported into the left pocket). Plan to take this on our 9-day adventure in the spring to the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone, as I think it will pack compactly in my backpack. Highly recommend this one!

Fabulous jacket!
November 22, 2011

This jacket is an absolute winner! I'm allergic to down and I've been looking for an alternative for years. This jacket looks cute and it's soooo light but its also crazy warm. It zips nicely into my Mountain Light shell for really bad weather. I'm totally cozy with this on in temps to the low 30s/high 20s with just a sweather underneath. But it also works great with just a tshirt in the high 40s/50s. It also doesn't make me sweat like crazy when I go into a store which is awesome. I'm tall and the curved back hits at a nice spot- not too high like some other NF jackets. FYI I'm 5'10" / 135 / 32B / 29 waist / 38 hips and I took a Medium which allows just the right amount of room for layering underneath. Hope this helps!

Nice transition jacket!
March 15, 2012

I have been looking for an insulated jacket that would keep me warm without too much bulk, and this fits the bill--it's not too puffy and has a flattering fit. I got it in the Prussian Blue shade and really love the color-I resisted the temptation to get it in black since I already have a lot of black jackets. It's warm enough to wear with a basic lightweight long sleeve t under in rainy mid-30's to mid-40 degree weather. I also like that the back bottom dips down a little to cover part of my backside when I'm having one of those self-conscious days! ;) For reference, I am 5'6" and float between 135-140 lbs and the medium fits me just right with a little bit of room for layering.

Much More Elegant than Patagonia's Down Sweater
September 12, 2011

One of my wife's complaints about the ever popular Patagonia Down Sweater is that the fit is a bit loose and wide/baggy. She usually wears a medium but could take a small in the Patagonia. The Redpoint from TNF solves these fit problems. It fits without excess and still has room for layering. It's not too long so it doesn't have the hang over half your backside look so there's still some aesthetic appeal. The other benefit is that it has synthetic fill insulation which is better for wet or damp weather, and we tend to get some wetness in the winter. As a synthetic jacket, however, it is not too thin or lightweight. It seems to have a great balance for warmth without being too puffy or wafer thin. The neck closure is not too tight or too wide open, thus it effectively keeps in warmth--some jackets have a gap. The ivory color, unlike with some brands, doesn't show through (see through) and has a nice cream and even look to the color. Very happy with this purchase. A great value.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Great value
