Great Jacket - Zipper issues
I really like this jacket. Very sleek, very comfortable and warm. My only complaint is that the zipper can be somewhat of a challenge to zip up since there are two.

Great Jacket!
This jacket is very light yet warm and very comfortable! I don't like some of the other North Face down jackets that are too bulky but this one is a winner.

Nice but fits small across chest
I bought the Redpoint Optimus jacket for my daughter in size small. She has several TNF jackets and fleeces and always wears a small. This jacket however was tight on her across the chest . My advice- This is a nice jacket but you may want to size up.

Daughter loves it!
Bought for my daughter. She loves it...it's not too warm and the attached hood is great for the Northwest. Couldn't be happier!

Excellent Coat!
I just bought this coat and it is perfect! It is plenty warm, and when fully zipped up with the hood, you stay nicely bundled. It's a great weight, not too bulky, but without sacrificing any warmth. I definitely recommend it

Best coat ever!
If you want a warm coat that isnt too bulky then this is the coat for you! It is so light weight you can wear it everywhere and stay warm. You can also dress this coat up. Best coat I ever bought.

light weight and insulated!
you want a jacket that keeps you warm, and dry, and weighs like softshell? look no further. this is it!. i was comparing this jacket to Arc'teryx, but this one stands out in just so many ways. 1) price 2) the fit is better 3) quality - for the same price level Arc'teryx, you can only get a softshell (doesn't give you warmth at all) 4) look - i love the red zipper detail on my black jacket. something interesting without being a fluorescent stick in the park. i would highly recommend this jacket to anyone without any reservation!

Well Made Jacket - Size Up One
This jacket is well made and quality through and through. My recommendation is to size up one as it does run tight through the shoulders.

The Perfect Jacket
I searched for a long time for the perfect jacket. I get hot easily, so I did not want a super bulky coat. This jacket is lightweight (less than 20 oz!) but absolutely does the job of keeping me warm, dry, and the wind out! It has a down feel to it, but the inside is synthetic which I prefer and think is superior in many cases. I live in the Seattle area, so it's imperative that I have a water resistant jacket. Some of the features that I like the most : The double pull zipper- I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and this feature makes it really simple for me to pull the zipper up, while pulling the other zipper the opposite direction as to save my hand from a lot of pain that other jackets have caused without this feature. The Napoleon zippers on the outside and inside of the jacket make for storing personal items very convenient. The material is very nice to the touch. It's not itchy or "cheap" feeling. The cuffs around the wrist are loose and not restricting. There is a cinch cord on the back of the hood to ensure that the hood fits around your head as customized as you want it to be. The material and quality of this jacket is high quality. Absolutely worth the price. The manuf. website has this same jacket listed for $250. Wow! Overall, I love this jacket. It's absolutely perfect for my purposes. If this is your first North Face purchase, don't hesitate. It's well worth it. This is a jacket that you can keep for life. It has a fitted look that is very classic looking. Not trendy in the least.

Very warm and light wt.
It's very warm without feeling like you are wearing heavy thick jacket. I wish it was a bit tighter fitting, but it's still cute.

Almost the perfect jacket
I bought this jacket (2009 version in black) because my 'significant other' continually raved about his North Face jacket that is the men's equivalent. I love many things about it - looks great (fitted, not bulky), sits below the waist and has a cinch cord to keep the cold Northeast wind out, very light yet warm, lots of pockets with concealed zips for clean lines, great price. I really wanted it to work for me (finally a functional jacket that looks cute!), but two things made me return it. The hood was too big (as for all NF jackets I have tried), which was improved by cinching the pull on the hood back (which nicely conceals under a flap unlike my SO's jacket). This doesn't do anything for the hood opening, though, so the wind and cold still got in. The deal-breaker was the reinforced zipper backing on the collar. Presumably the reinforcement is to keep the collar standing up to keep your neck warm, but it was so stiff that it jabbed into my chin, whether the zip was fully up or pulled down a bit. Maybe most people won't mind this... I'm sensitive to itchy fabric, scratchy seams, etc... and maybe it softens over time, but I didn't want to take the chance. If not for this, I would have given 5 stars. I'm hoping that North Face changes this feature on the 2010 version, in which case I will definitely buy it.

Solid Jacket
I was a little hesitant about getting this jacket because it didn't look too amazing online, but it looks really great on! The waist is nice and fitted, the insulation is extremely warm but not bulky, and I like that the hood is insulated so my head stays warm. I'm in Chicago and have worn it down to 0 degrees so far with only a light fleece and t-shirt underneath it and was very comfortable. The zippers work great as well. The arm length might be a tiny bit short for some people but it's good for me because I like the cuffs right at the wrist. I'm 5'6", 120lbs. and the small is perfect.
