The surge backpack is the best backpack I have ever had. It distributes the weight evenly and it doesn't look too bulky even when I have a lot books and binders in it. I would definitely recommend it to friends; it's worth the heftier price.

The North Face Woman's Surge Back pack
July 12, 2012

Nice bag for laptop and traveling, plus durable and large enough for many nights of camping. I spend a lot of time camping every month, providing cheerful service and supporting our youth. I carry my laptop and projector, along with gear needed to help with training sessions as well. It has a lot of bells and whistles, and that is great for a pack that is fitted for woman. Men's packs tend to be a little big and bulky, this one is nice.

Love it!
September 18, 2012

I am a high school student and must carry my iPad, several texts, as well as the usual daily equipment such as phone, coat, and perhaps a pair of sneakers on my back each day. Yes, my back has not always been happy and yet, fashion also matters to me, so I resisted my mom's instructions to pick out a new backpack that I like the look of as well as was approved by those in the know about happy backs. Well, I won't tell my mom, but she is right-you can have fashion, comfort, and a happy back all at the same time! I love the look of my new Surge backpack as well as how it really does not hurt my back to carry it, even when fully loaded. And more than enough room for all essentials and then some..whoohoo!! Take it from a skeptic-mom did know best and I Loooove my new Surge backpack!!

Pros: Great design, Performance, Ease of use

I love this backpack! I got the squid red and love the color. It's a lot more comfortable than I thought it would be. There is really good cushioning on the back part and protects laptop very well. Overall I'm very pleased and will enjoy traveling with it in the near future.

satisfactory purchase
December 10, 2010

Bought this backpack for my high school daughter. She likes it but it doesn't fit all of her books. Some of the pull tabs on the zippers have broken off. Overall we are pleased with the purchase.

Good modern travel backpack
February 11, 2012

I bought this pack to use as a do-it-all bag for travel, and I am not disappointed. I use the padded compartment for my laptop and/or iPad. My clothes fit in the one large compartment. Then there is another ample compartment for keys, phone, wallet and such. I'm sure there is a nifty use for the front compartment with the two zippers -- I just haven't figured it out yet! I really like the design of the water bottle pockets on the side. They have retention straps above the pocket, so if you have a large or tall bottle, you can restrain it with the straps as well so it doesn't fall out if you bend over. Another handy feature is the reflective patches -- it's nice to know they're there if you get caught out after dark in a strange city. My complaint, and the reason it didn't get five stars -- I would like to see beefier padding on the shoulder straps and waist strap. If it was really heavily loaded they could get uncomfortable. I think the only difference between this and the men's pack is this one is 2" shorter. I am 5'6" and I think I could reasonably carry either one. So if you are much taller than I am, you might want to get the men's. Except of course the sternum strap placement on the womens is better for us gals.

I was debating on a lot of backpacks before purchasing this one. I had a lot of things to carry to school and my regular JanSport was straining my back. Also, it wasn't meant to carry many things. So I searched around and wanted one that was designed for women because the regular ones looked too big. I am 5'3" and it doesn't make me look like I'm carrying something too big on my back. Overall, I am pretty happy with the purchase of the Tungsten Grey one. PROS: - Quality of backpack is very good. - Doesn't strain my back while carrying a lot of things: One textbook, 1" binder, 1/4" paperback textbook, 2 composition book, 13" MacBook Pro with case cover, insulated water bottle, pens, pencils, calculator, cellular phone, and snacks. - Two sided water bottle pockets. - Organizer. - Variety of colors to choose from. CONS: - Price. - It can be a little small if you need to carry a lot of textbooks. I can only fit one in mine. I would say two textbooks would be the most if the books aren't too bulky and if your binder is 1".

women's surge backpack
July 27, 2012

I do a lot of traviling with school, and with the surge backpack i am able to carry my laptop safely! Another huge plus, is that it has its own compartment for our charing cord, plus various pockets inside for your other valuable items such as cell phones, ipods and such. When it rains the water does not leak through. Also, the padding and support straps make it the most comfortable backpack i have ever carried. I love mine!!!

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Great value, great comfort

Awesome backpack
October 13, 2011

I would call myself a backpack expert. I use a backpack every day. The Women's Surge is awesome. I carry a laptop, papers, everything that you'd have in a purse and a briefcase combined. This backpack has a place for everything. I also walk 3 miles to work and it is super comfortable. It fits close to my back and the weight is well distributed. The only slight issue that I have is that the front side zips are a little difficult, because the top part of the zipper is not fixed. It is also a bit of a hassle getting into the padded pocket in the front section. I don't know about the durability because I've only had it a couple of weeks.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance
