great backpack!
February 20, 2012

I love this backpack! I got the squid red and love the color. It's a lot more comfortable than I thought it would be. There is really good cushioning on the back part and protects laptop very well. Overall I'm very pleased and will enjoy traveling with it in the near future.

Good modern travel backpack
February 11, 2012

I bought this pack to use as a do-it-all bag for travel, and I am not disappointed. I use the padded compartment for my laptop and/or iPad. My clothes fit in the one large compartment. Then there is another ample compartment for keys, phone, wallet and such. I'm sure there is a nifty use for the front compartment with the two zippers -- I just haven't figured it out yet! I really like the design of the water bottle pockets on the side. They have retention straps above the pocket, so if you have a large or tall bottle, you can restrain it with the straps as well so it doesn't fall out if you bend over. Another handy feature is the reflective patches -- it's nice to know they're there if you get caught out after dark in a strange city. My complaint, and the reason it didn't get five stars -- I would like to see beefier padding on the shoulder straps and waist strap. If it was really heavily loaded they could get uncomfortable. I think the only difference between this and the men's pack is this one is 2" shorter. I am 5'6" and I think I could reasonably carry either one. So if you are much taller than I am, you might want to get the men's. Except of course the sternum strap placement on the womens is better for us gals.

Pros: Great design, Ease of use, Great value

Awesome backpack
October 13, 2011

I would call myself a backpack expert. I use a backpack every day. The Women's Surge is awesome. I carry a laptop, papers, everything that you'd have in a purse and a briefcase combined. This backpack has a place for everything. I also walk 3 miles to work and it is super comfortable. It fits close to my back and the weight is well distributed. The only slight issue that I have is that the front side zips are a little difficult, because the top part of the zipper is not fixed. It is also a bit of a hassle getting into the padded pocket in the front section. I don't know about the durability because I've only had it a couple of weeks.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance

I was debating on a lot of backpacks before purchasing this one. I had a lot of things to carry to school and my regular JanSport was straining my back. Also, it wasn't meant to carry many things. So I searched around and wanted one that was designed for women because the regular ones looked too big. I am 5'3" and it doesn't make me look like I'm carrying something too big on my back. Overall, I am pretty happy with the purchase of the Tungsten Grey one. PROS: - Quality of backpack is very good. - Doesn't strain my back while carrying a lot of things: One textbook, 1" binder, 1/4" paperback textbook, 2 composition book, 13" MacBook Pro with case cover, insulated water bottle, pens, pencils, calculator, cellular phone, and snacks. - Two sided water bottle pockets. - Organizer. - Variety of colors to choose from. CONS: - Price. - It can be a little small if you need to carry a lot of textbooks. I can only fit one in mine. I would say two textbooks would be the most if the books aren't too bulky and if your binder is 1".

The surge backpack is the best backpack I have ever had. It distributes the weight evenly and it doesn't look too bulky even when I have a lot books and binders in it. I would definitely recommend it to friends; it's worth the heftier price.

satisfactory purchase

Bought this backpack for my high school daughter. She likes it but it doesn't fit all of her books. Some of the pull tabs on the zippers have broken off. Overall we are pleased with the purchase.
