Description

Layering up this winter doesn't necessarily imply bulking up on binding and confining fabrics--especially if you're wearing this warm and lightweight Women's TKA 100 Microvelour Glacier 1/4-Zip Shirt from The North Face. It's a perfect pullover that you can wear as a baselayer for skiing, climbing, hiking or snowboarding in snowy conditions, or as a top during après ski or hanging out with friends in your cozy winter rental place. While cheap conventional fleece tops often pill beneath a ski sweater or middle layer, the Polartec® Classic polyester Microvelour fleece keeps it all together without snags or frayed fabric--even through several seasons of regular use. The lightweight, highly breathable fabric facilitates drying, even if you're hanging it up with the rest of your laundered camping clothing in the summer backcountry. The North Face designed their Women's Women's TKA 100 Microvelour Glacier 1/4-Zip Shirt with a relaxed fit and an extended length with a one-inch drop tail in the back for added coverage. The Polartec® Classic polyester Microvelour fleece is UPF (Ultraviolet Protection Factor) rated at 30 for moderate UV ray protection in bright alpine conditions.

October 24, 2011

I love this fleece. It is fitted so it looks a little more feminine. The material is so soft and it does not shrink. However, I usually wear a small in North Face apparel and ended up with an x-small on this one. Love it!

Great Value
October 29, 2012

I am enjoying the Women's TKA 100 Microvelour Glacier 1/4 Zip Shirt. The fit is good and it is warm. I can wear a tshirt underneath which adds to the comfort. I can recommend this shirt as a great value for the price. I am looking for another with a full zipper so it is easier to wear at work.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Great value, Cons: would like the same design with a full zipper.

Softer and Slightly Larger
January 03, 2012

This year the style is a little longer, a little bigger in the arms and body, and still fitted, as compared to previous years. I normally take a medium in NF and it still looks fitted just a little roomier than before. The fabric is softer than in previous years, and it is still a fabulous layer, shirt, and lightweight substitute jacket in 45 degrees to about 65. Love the light weight which makes it fabulous for travel and the comfort. The grey is fabulous! I have this in black, heather green, blue, and I will have one in most colors eventually if I keep at it - it's a wardrobe must have!

October 29, 2012

This is my first North Face item. I was drawn to it for its surprisingly low price, and was slightly worried about quality because of the low price to be honest, but I absolutely love this thing! The first time I wore it was while running a 5k and it kept me warm without over-heating me. I need one in every color I think.

Runs large fans out from waist down
June 23, 2012

I purchased the north face micro fleece 1/4 zip inthe olive green and yellow butter colors. They were both on back order for the colors. I am 5'10" tall and 130 lbs. I normally wear a medium. I need to return both of the fleeces they are huge, they fan out really far from around the waist down. They are about 10" too wide on me. Love North Face Awesome quality just too wide. If you are purchasing go down one size. Hope this helps someone.

Runs large below the waist
June 29, 2012

I purchased one of these about 3 years ago and they have change the fit and material drastically since then. The new version I just bought is of much nicer material, very stretchy, fluffier, and quite warm. It also runs much larger. The previous version was too short in my opinion, so the new one is much better - at least a couple of inches longer. I usually wear a medium in this item though, and the new mediums are much too large for me, especially in the way that it flairs from the waist and gets really big at the hips. I'm 5'9" and 135 lb. I'm going to reorder a small and hope it will be almost as long and several inches smaller in the hip area.

Warm and Comfy
April 30, 2013

I love this fleece! I bought one and wore it in Iceland. Not only is it very warm and comfortable but it looks pretty stylish too! I wore this bad boy on a glacier and never felt cold yet, even on warm sunny days I never overheated either! I have owned mine for over a year and found it to be very durable and the colors hold up well. It doesn't fade in the wash. I plan to buy more in various colors.

Wear it all the time
April 10, 2013

So soft and comfortable, I find myself wearing it a lot, it's even great just lounging around the house. The purple color I purchased was absolutely beautiful, it's actually a dark plum. Fit is a little on the larger side, I ordered an XS but it seems like it can fit most. I already have a couple of these 1/4 zips, they last a long time and don't wear down quickly- even after multiple washes!

Excellent all round
January 11, 2012

I'm a K-9 Search & Rescue K-9 Handler/Trainer in the Pacific Northwest. Fall through Spring, I live in fleece pullovers with various layers on top. I've tried various brands, but this is the best so far. I get lot's of vigorous activity--especially with my arms/upperbody, so having a great-fitting top is important. This top is lightweight but warm. Extremely soft--feels great next to the skin. Cut nicely fitted so it doesn't add bulk. Nice detail at neck hides/secures zipper--looks more attractive/finished than the standard 1/4 zip. Goes under other fleece and slim fitting jackets easily. Good length. I'm 5'7", 140lb, short-waisted, with long arms. Can tuck in or leave out. Arms are long enough. Gravity Purple, is a gorgeous true purple.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance

Warmth without bulk
May 31, 2011

The women's TKA 100 Microvelour Glacier 1/4 Zip is a fantastic light weight and low-bulk option for day hiking, backpacking, or just to wear around town. It compresses well and has just the right amount of warmth on a cool day. The TKA 100 works well as an underlayer with a water/wind resistent shell in more extreme conditions. It's very form fitting, but very comfortable. I would highly recommend the TKA 100 for anyone looking for comfort and versatility without the weight or bulk.

This pullover is great! It's thin, yet warm! I bought a medium and I weigh 125 at 5'1". The sleeves are a little long but I have plenty of room to wear a shirt underneath without feeling constricted. I bought the pullover in the color Phoenix Pink and I love it! It's very bright and almost looks peach. It definitely gets compliments. fit not "fitted"
December 02, 2012

My daughters love North Face jackets and other gear. I got these for them and one for me to try. They fit fine through the shoulders and arms, but around the waist and hips they are "roomier" than I would like. We are all 5'8''ish and average to slender build. Also, the 1/4 zipper is shorter than I prefer, but as long as you know what you're getting, you won't mind. Fabric feels nice.

a keeper... with hesitation
January 03, 2012

I purchased on of these for my sister first, finally this year I bought myself one. I got the small and I wished it fit a little better. I am 5'2" and 130#s, a little on the petite size. The arms are long, and it fits loose through the torso even with layering, and I am not small chested. I didn't see a petite or extra small, so I am keeping it because it is warm, and good quality, just wish it was a little more flattering.

Wife loved this fleece
December 21, 2011

I bought the women's version of this fleece for my wife after having purchased one for myself earlier this year. I had mentioned to her how much I like this fleece pullover because it is not at all bulky but still keeps me remarkably warm without having to wear too many layers. I got the hint that she wanted one too so so I bought her two in her favorite colors. She likes this fleece as much as I do because it is soft (and not at all itchy), not bulky and keeps her nice and warm. Plus there is also a good variety of colors to choose from. There are now two fans of this fleece in our household.

Pros: Great design, Performance, soft, not bulky

Great fleece!
July 03, 2011

I usually pack along a fleece everywhere I go just in case it gets cold or I have to go in air conditioning. This one is perfect for this purpose. The pink color is very pretty, and the fabric is very soft and light. It's thick enough to keep me warm without being bulky. I can't speak to the outdoorsiness of it, since I just got it and it's summer time, but it works great to combat many a restaurant's tendency to over-air condition.

Pros: Build quality, Ease of use, attractive

LOVE THIS TOP!!!
August 19, 2012

I LOVE THIS TOP!!! I bought it in the vibrant red color and it is true to color. I love how bright and cheerful it looks. After one washing, the fleece is still nice and soft. I did air-dry it because I wanted to make sure it wouldn't shrink or pill. It is warm and soft and looks really cute under my North Face vest. I bought it in medium, and it is fitted, but not too tight. Overall, I love this top and plan on buying at least one more!

Great basic for many occasions
May 31, 2011

This sweater is great for hiking, traveling and just wearing around town. The material is soft, light and warm and the color matches a lot of my other clothes. The fit is good, but the length of the zipper is a little short. I really enjoy wearing this top, and would consider buying it again in a different color!

sizing waaay big/boxy
October 17, 2012

i have this same pullover from 3 years ago and it is my favorite lightwt fleece. Unfortunately, there have been some changes to the design. The zip is much shorter than it used to be (it's only about 6" now) but most noticeable is the sizing difference. This pullover is way over sized. I am 5'7"/135 and the M I got (my old one is a M) is huge and boxy on me. This is 100 wt fleece, there's no way it should be cut like that. Returning, do not reccomend unless you want a micro fleece that fits like a mumu

Cons: Bad design

Favorite North Face product!
September 19, 2012

I love this product because it is easy to slip on and it provides just enough warmth in chilly weather. The design is cute and very flattering. I am in love with the material...it is so soft and feels like you are wearing a fleece blanket! The only thing I noticed is that it does shrink alot if you put them in the dryer, so I just wash them in cold water and let them lay out to dry, works perfectly!

Buy this great top!
May 17, 2012

I bought one of these about a year ago because I was looking for something warm and lightweight for all-around use. Since then I've bought three more. This top is warm, but not too warm, and stylish enough I can wear it to work. Or on a hike. Or out to dinner. Or just about anywhere. I wish the styling were just a tiny bit more fitted, but it's not sloppy, and the garment has princess seaming and a dropped rear hem that give it a much more feminine look than a lot of fleeces. In fact, the photo on Altrec's site doesn't do it justice. I am 5'6" about 125 pounds and wear the small. I suspect the extra small would give me the more fitted look I'd like, but then couldn't be layered and probably wouldn't be long enough.

Pros: Build quality, Performance, Ease of use

Good Fleece
December 02, 2011

I really like this fleece. It's soft and warm, and comes in brilliant colors! For me the fit is a little weird. I'm 5'8 and 140lbs and ordered a medium. My hips are bigger than my top, so the flaring of the material at the bottom works great for me. But the armpits and chest seem a little baggy. A small would probably fit better, but I fear the arm length will be too short. So I'm keeping the medium. I figure it will be easier to layer underneath it, and I also mostly got for layering under my vests. Overall though, it's a good fleece.

Pros: cozy soft and warm, Cons: a little baggy in chest

Great Fall or Spring pullover
October 08, 2012

I typically wear this with a fitted tee underneath, and it's perfect for fall or spring. It's a thinner pullover, so if you are seeking something ultra warm for snow shoveling or camping, I would choose a different option. The best part about this pullover is that it can be worn indoors without making you overheat, and it still warm for a chilly day. I ordered the size XS, and it fits well. The sleeves are on the long side, but still work for me. I am 5'3" and 115 Ibs.

Pros: Ease of use

I have a couple of these and they are so cozy. They layer well over a t-shirt and under a jacket. They are super soft and fuzzy and keep you comfortable--not too hot, not too cold. I've been wearing them for a couple of years and they are holding up great.

Don't make my mistake!
July 15, 2011

This is such a great fleece, when I accidentally "destroyed" it, I almost cried! Overall it's quite warm despite its incredibly light weight. The sleeves are at the right length for my slightly long arms. I'm 165 cm (5'5'') and about 165 lb with a pear shape body, and the medium fits very nicely on me over a t-shirt. It's definitely durable, but BE CAREFUL! I have machine washed it a few times and air dried it, and that seemed to be okay. My boyfriend did my laundry once and put it in the drier on high. Most of the fleece on this shirt was okay, but on several spots where the drier heat was too much, or perhaps these spots hesitated a bit more on the sizzling metal in the drier. On these spots the fleece burnt and so did my heart. In short, DO NOT repeat my mistake and leave your precious TNF fleece shirt with guys who don't read labels! Also, hurry up and grab your next favorite fleece shirt that you will live in before winter hits.

Love It!
October 24, 2012

Thank you, received 3 items, North Face, pants and shirts. The package came on time as was scheduled. I love North Face products and knew the quality but the priceÂ…Â… nobody can bit this price!!!!! The design is a little different from old module but the material is GREAT. Fits nice, a little bigger but I like it because this is a winter wear (exactly as per description overview - relaxed fit). I am so glad that I ordered two colors. I will defiantly will use this website, by the way, shopping now and have already 4 items in the cart :) have to be ready for the winter :)

July 23, 2011

Great for non-bulky warmth. I'm 5'7'' and weigh 145 lbs, athletic build and a medium fits loosely, especially around the hips. I like that it is longer and extends down several inches past my waist, but it flares out in a dress like fashion. I may order my next one a size smaller and see. I have several of these sweaters from years past, slightly different fit but they last forever!

I LOVE this micro fleece! I have several others but really wanted the bright red one. ALTREC has such a wide range of colors! I wear this top all winter long! It has a pretty, feminine fit and is not too thick but really keeps you warm and cozy! The color is exactly as it looks on the website. I am a fitness instructor so these tops are perfect over my workout tops until I am "warmed up". This is a staple in my winter wardrobe. I'm going to order the blue one too!

I buy, on average, 5 of these for gifts each year as they are requested repeatedly. I decided to order one for myself and now I know why. They are warm, not bulky, comfortable, and yet stylish. It is a wise purchase. I am 5'5'' and weigh 125. I can wear either the small or medium. I like a little extra room, so the medium is my size of choice.

Bought this thinking it would be a really nice top layer for a fall afternoon, but it ended up being a lot thinner then i had originally intended. Just have to layer up a bit for the warmth. Favorite Fleece Shirt
February 16, 2012

I am 5'8" around 150 lbs and the medium fit true to size. I like the relaxed fit--not too tight, not too baggy, just right. I like the shirt so much I have purchased it in 3 different colors (red, navy, hominy yellow). I have used it mainly as a 2nd layer for alpine skiing but look forward to wearing it in cooler weather for trail running, and cycling. I think the 100 weight fleece offers a broader range of seasonal use either by itself or layering under a shell.

Favorite Fleece!
September 16, 2012

I was a little hesitant about ordering this shirt, as I had read some negative reviews about how TNF had made changes from the "old" style, and the "new" shirt wasn't as good. Well, it was on sale, I didn't have an "old" style to compare, and I really love TNF, so how could I lose?!?!? I normally wear a Large, but heeded advice that these shirts run big and ordered a Medium (for a 34DDD girl, I was a little concerned.....) It fits PERFECTLY, zero issues about it being too short, and is just the right warmth for layering or indoor wear. It is my absolute FAVORITE fleece! I wash it per the directions (i.e. zip all zippers, turn inside out, don't wash it with other stuff that has zippers that could "rough" it up) and I haven't experienced any pilling. Another win for TNF!

Great pullover
May 28, 2011

This pullover is super comfy and just the right amount of warmth for windy, spring time hikes in Northern California. It's easy to get over a t-shirt, but it's a little more work to get over long sleeves. Also, it's a little form-fitting. So, it's not the best top if you are trying to cover up imperfections. That said, I still I love it. I love that it is soft and not itchy. Mostly, I love that it is so light weight. I'm planning to take it on the plane with me for an international flight.

Pros: Great value, comfort, light weight

Nice, but big
October 09, 2011

I received this in the mail yesterday. I ordered a Medium thinking it would be big enough to wear a layer underneath. Well, that is for sure, it is big enough to wear many layers underneath. I am going to have to return this item, however it is so nice that I am going to get it in a smaller size. The fleece is super soft and the shirt was very nice. I am looking forward to getting a smaller size!
