Description

There's a reason these long down jackets are so popular, and we think you're in the know. Offering head-to-knee warmth that's almost as cozy as your TNF sleeping bag, The North Face Women's Triple C Jacket is a well-designed mix of high-fashion, street-ready style and wilderness-ready technology. This down coat is made from sturdy yet lightweight exterior fabric that is treated with a DWR finish to resist snowballs, a few snowflakes and the occasional drip from the tip of an icicle. Premium 700-fill down has an incredibly high warmth-to-weight ratio and is naturally breathable to help vent interior body vapor, keeping you dry and comfy.

A smooth polyester lining makes this winter jacket easy to pull on over mid layers of fleece or wool and a brushed chinguard lining offers a soft nook to burrow into that won't chafe your chin. The zipper is two-way so you can unzip the bottom as you climb stairs or if you need to get into your jeans pockets, or unzip the top as you begin to warm up. A removable, adjustable, insulated hood helps retain body heat or stays at home so you can show off your adorable new knit beanie you made at the Wednesday night stitch-n-bitch gathering. Keep your cell phone warm and functioning in the internal media pocket when you're out on the town. Whether you're cheering for your team from the bleachers at an autumn football game or you're walking downtown to meet up with friends, The North Face Triple C Down Jacket for women will wrap you in plush, winter-defying warmth.

Great durable down coat
January 09, 2011

I borrowed my friend's coat for a week and had to get one myself. I wear a size 6/8, and I usually order a large coat, but the medium was a good fit. Easy to care for.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Great value

Love it!
February 05, 2011

I love this coat. I am 5' 8" and 140 lbs. I ordered the medium and was concerned about whether sleeves would be long enough. They fit perfectly. It's lightweight, not at all cumbersome, keeps me warm as toast and looks very stylish. I can wear it to work but it's great for walking my 80 lb Lab in sub zero temperatures.

Love this coat!!
February 24, 2011

I just received this coat. I was looking for something simple, very warm and durable without all the bulk of traditional winter coats. I have to say I made the perfect choice!! I wore it for the first time today. It was 18 degrees and I was perfectly warm. It took some getting used to not having all the bulk, so until I put it on and wore it outside I wasn't sure. I am so glad I bought this coat. If you want a long coat that is warm, simple and very well made, this is for you. I cannot judge how waterproof it is, but I'm sure it is just as the tag states. It is a very well made coat, but then again The North Face is known for quality products. I am a happy, warm woman!!! :)

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Great value, simple good quality.

What Every Chicago Mom Needs
February 15, 2012

I really love my newest purchase my Women's The North Face Trple C Jacket though costly for a jacket you really get your money's worth. Me being a Mom on the go this is great for the crazy winter elements Chicago can dish out. I call it my portable blanket. It's so cozy, but still durable. I love the dual zipper for manuvering w/the children, grocery shopping & can still be stylish enough to be a diva in.Even w/the detachable hood which can easily fold to fit into your pocket or purse. I love the inner pocket for those last min. runs at night you want to make & don't want to carry a purse. What a way to carry your valuables safely. I'm a fan of the brand & this coat just made me even more.

New to Northface
February 10, 2012

This is my first purchase of a Northface product, I am happy with the lightweight of the coat - it is not bulky at all and I do like that, but still undecided with how well it will do when it really gets cold out! But all in all - I am happy with my purchase here at Altrec.com! Will visit the site again! :-)

Great Coat
December 16, 2010

This is a great coat! I had been looking at it for awhile online, and wanted to purchase it, but I was unable to locate it at any store near me. Therefore, I ordered it online and received it in three days during a very cold spell. It is absolutely the best purchase I made. Not only is it warm, and comfortable, but the color is so rich and pretty. It's the type of coat that you can dress up or down. I absolutely love it!

My go-to Winter Coat
January 27, 2012

We are having a really mild winter in Boston this year. But, I wish I have bought this coat much earlier. The coat is stylish enough and really does the job to keep me warm! I am 5'4 and 120 lbs so I ordered a S and it fits nicely with enough room for a T and sweater. It's also long enough but not too long so walking kids to school and my dog is easy enough even with the coat all zipped up. The only two things I would suggest: 1. Slightly bigger hood and some adjustment mechanism for the hood. I don't have a big head but I found the hood to be a little on the small side. When that winter wind really blows, having a slightly bigger hood to over part of my cheeks would be nice. 2. Use higher quality zipper. The zipper is not the easiest to use, one really has to align well at the bottom before the zip would function well. It hasn't caught on the side yet but I can see that will also be a problem later. Otherwise, a very nice investment. My husband made me order it so he does not have to hear me complain about the cold Boston winter anymore.

I worried about the hefty price tag of the the Women's Triple C Jacket. Since it arrived, I haven't had a single regret because I *love* this coat and can see myself wearing it forever. It is super stylish and perfectly toasty (but not too hot). Great length (mid-calf on me, 5'1") to keep my legs warm. Can zip or snap (even snaps only keep out the cold). Love the hood which when snugged stays up comfortably. Not at all bulky - it's the best winter coat I've ever owned!

Smart Purchase
January 21, 2012

i have wanted to order a long North Face jacket and was unsure of which one. I own a short one, 3/4 length one and others and I have been looking for one that is really long with a hood that is perfect for walking the dogs late at night on a cold night. This Triple C Jacket is the smartest choice. It answers all my needs. I couldn't decide between the black and brown. I always tend to buy black but guess what I like this one better in the brown. The only issue I had is I ordered the wrong size. I wear a medium in most North Face so I ordered a medium in this one going against the reviews saying it runs large. I need the small so I don't look like an astronaut walking around. I am 5'8 and 135 pounds with long arms. But the medium just made me feel too boxy. I reordered the small and the great thing about Altrec was they were running a free 2-day shipping. My wait is quick and before I know it I will be walking around with my 2 dogs all bundled up and warm not complaining that I have to walk the dogs again. Smart purchase for sure and as always North Face is a reliable brand. And Altrec is the place to buy it - always has the stock in the size and color you want and the best price available!!!

Best gift I ever bought myself!
March 03, 2013

Like walking in a sleeping bag that is light weight, warm, and doesn't make you look like huge. I cannot say enough about this coat! I get compliments all the time and the length is what makes it so fabulous. Normally a coat this warm is heavy, bulky. This is warm like a blanket and yet is a "grap it and go" coat even if in a hurry or running a quick errand. You won't regret this purchase! Best coat I have ever owned without question!! Great for all ages too.

Comfortable
December 18, 2012

I bought this 2 weeks ago as we have moved to MN recently and I have been a bit worried about the harsh winter here. It is a very comfortable jacket, fitted very nicely. For sure, it is warm, I have walked with just this and a thin cardigan in 20s and felt very comfortable. However, my arms don't feel as warm as rest of the body and I do not know yet how warm this jacket will be when the temperature goes below zero. For sure, it is one of the most comfortable jacket I have ever worn. I am 5'2 and it comes till my mid-calf which is what I wanted.

Don't let it fool you!!
February 05, 2012

So, your coat arrives and you say "hmmm... tiny box for a coat!" You proceed to open that tiny box and see a small package containing what's supposed to be a long, warm Northface coat. Out comes the small package, pull out the coat that seems to be the weight of a feather and has the feel of something paper thin. If you're like me, your fist thought is "ok.... THIS is going back...." Then, you think of Altrec's lifetime return guarantee, so you have nothing to lose whatsoever in giving it a try, retaining all tags and paperwork for when you're sure you'll be sending this puppy back. Guess what.... you're gonna KEEP it! Yep. Something so paper thin and feather weight is has surprised you and you are HAPPY AND WARM! Love it, love it, love it.

Warm, functional, and cute!
January 26, 2012

I just moved to New England and was in search for a coat that would keep me warm and dry in all the winter elements while still having a bit of style-this coat is PERFECT. I primarily bought this coat as I take the bus to work and sometimes have a 5-6 block walk through a windy section of our city. I've had no problems with keeping warm and in fact have had to remove layers because I get a bit too hot (this is hard to believe given I'm ALWAYS cold). I also wore this coat over the weekend when we went hiking-both cold days with 5-6 inches of snow on the ground. I was warm as could be. I chose this coat especially because of the feminine coat and the removable hood and have not been disappointed. It's like walking around in a sleeping bag-sooo comfortable. I'm not sure how well it will keep water out but I wouldn't wear the coat in a down pour as that is what my raincoat is for. I think the coat does what it is designed to do and well worth the money.

This is a great coat, much like the metropolis but longer. I was hoping for more loft or puffiness because of the 700 fill, but it still feels thin. It keeps it's warmth though and is very comfortable - especially if you love sleeping bags! Another great product from north face.

Full length warmth
December 09, 2011

Loved the build quality and features of this jacket. I owned a lot of North Face jacket and I rate this highly among all the jackets that I own. The jacket obviously protects up to the middle of the thighs, the 600 fill power of the down will keep you warm in the coldest of days. As with down jackets, it is not completely wind proof and the seams between the down sections do let air through. On those days you'd need a good waterproof/windproof shell with insulation anyways. I also liked that the jacket is relatively light for such a large jacket. I wish North Face would offer more colors and the choices are relatively "drab".

Great service from Altrec, stylish and good looking coat, but...
December 10, 2007

This coat gets 2 stars, only because of Altrec's excellent service. I was very disappointed to find a down coat from North Face with such obvious design flaws. First, the down baffles on the body of the coat and on the sleeves are sewn all the way through. This coat is unlined, and standing outside my Montana home at a relatively balmy 15 degrees ABOVE zero (Fahrenheit) with a light breeze made it quickly apparent this coat leaks cold air like a sieve. I do not understand why North Face did not line this coat with a windproof liner, and stagger the baffles so the wind does not pass through. Duh. In my mind, a down coat should be designed much the way a well-designed down sleeping bag is. At nearly $300, this coat costs considerably more than my down bag, yet would not come anywhere close to keeping me warm. Secondly, the zipper does not go down far enough, which wouldn't matter if there were extra snaps to extend coverage according to personal preference, but since there isn't, the coat gaps open for the last 20+ inches, letting cold air enter to freeze your legs. In summary, while it is quite stylish for a down coat, this coat has major design flaws that can't be ignored if you are looking for actual function and warmth in moderately cold to very cold temperatures. I hoped to find a down coat to keep me warmer during the periods when I end up standing around dealing with clients and their questions, baggage, etc. while I am on the job as a tour guide in Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks, but this coat certainly is not it!

Okay down to -10C and not wind proof
March 01, 2009

After reading all of the great reviews for this coat I went ahead and bought one. I live in Montreal where it is wet, cold and at times windy in the winter. This coat is good to about -10 with out much wind. When it is windy the wind goes right though the fabric. It also does not have cuffs on the sleeves. I am going to ask my mom to add cuffs and create a shell for it (she is an excellent seamstress!). Otherwise it is a well built coat.

Perfect for the cold winter!
January 24, 2011

I ordered this coat as an alternative to my shorter, ski type jacket for everyday use. I usually hate wearing winter coats because of the weight and bulk; however this is very light weight and not bulky at all. I love the length and find it easy to get in and out of the car; it's even comfortable for driving - especially if you unzip it from the bottom. This particular coat has a more flattering silhouette than comparable versions from other makers. It is even nice enought for church on those snowy, cold mornings. I did not buy this for rain wear - only cold and snow. Overall, great warmth without the bulk!

I must admit I have not worn it yet, but I can tell that it is very well made and will be plenty warm. Love that it is light weight and more attractive than any down coat I have seen (And I've been looking a lot for about 4 years!) I ordered the large, based on the size guide, and it is a bit big; I may try to get a medium instead. I'm not sure I like the color, graphite, but it is neutral and will not show dirt if it rubs against the car. I have two suggestions for North Face: more colors, and a nylon rather than polyester lining. All of these issues can be overlooked, because it is very comfortable, warm, stylish, and designed with attention to detail.

Love it!

I've tried this coat on at Macy's and have been wanting to buy it for sometime now that I live in Chicago. This coat is great except I'm only 5.2 and it's a bit long on me but It's okay since it's SO windy and cold in winter I am always warm. I am not crazy about the material however because the older versions were more durable and thicker. The material in this coat is very thin for one and makes it look a bit cheap. I bought it in brown since the black and Grey are too dull. Overall it's a great coat.

The Jacket is warm, Light and the best. I can put this jacket in my purse. My favorite jacket, never cold. Usually I'm very cold Not this time babe. This is a phenomenal down jacket- it is extremely light weight, packs very small, but is also incredibly warm. I am 5'8/size 6 and wear a medium. The is a must have for the outdoor clothing arsenal/back-up layer for your pack. It provides good protection against the wind, and when temperatures get chilly it is an easy layer and light piece to throw on. I wear this out the door for ski-touring in as low as 5 degree weather, as well as an outer layer at 13,000ft in a biting cold wind to ski back down. It functions perfectly, and allows for great movement and flexibility. Reliable warmth and well cut for women, I also like the stitching and pocket placements. This is a fantastic go-to jacket for outdoor women and versatile for all kinds of activities. The weight to warmth ratio is it's biggest selling point..

Great Jacket
January 30, 2011

I'm a mom who, like other moms, is constantly in and out of the car, the house, schools, and activities. I needed a warm jacket that I could throw on and not be bulky. I found it! It is so warm, and our winter in New Jersey has been freezing with tons of snow. This was the best purchase! Since I just got it, i can't comment too much about the durability, but I can say that it is very warm and lightweight and not bulky AT ALL! love it.

I ordered this jacket as my winter dog walking coat because I was tired of being cold while walking the dog. So far, I love the jacket and find myself wearing it for far more than just walking the dog! The fit is very good--it shows an hourglass figure vs. making a gal feel like she is a stay-puff marshmallow! :) I am 5'9" and usually weigh around 138 but am currently 7.5 mos pregnant and the jacket fits my growing belly well! The sleeves are long enough where cold air doesn't sneak in and I can sit in my car without it feeling like I will pull the seams apart. There are many upsides to this jacket. The only 2 downsides I can pick apart would be #1 - the quality of the zipper vs. other North Face jackets I have--it seems that the zipper may be a little less durable than others I have seen. (but I have not had any problems with it so far); #2 is that the lining of the pockets used to be fleece lined-- they must have scaled back on that for cost savings?

Awsome Winter Coat
January 25, 2012

I received my coat today and am thrilled with every aspect associated with it. I found the coat to be a great length, a little below the knee. It is warm and “feather light “ to wear. The color is a nice black with zipped pockets on the outside of the coat as well as the inside, which I find to be a nice feature. I am pleased with the collar which is turtle like and the hood is large enough to use without having an additional inside hat. I am 5’ 7” and normally wear a Small (size 2/4). I ordered a Small and found the coat size to run a little bit large, but it was not of a great concern to me as I will be wearing heavy clothing underneath.

I love this jacket. I have a shorter version which I also love, but in Minneapolis we need to keep the legs warm too! It is great for running around because it's warm and light. I wore it in the Fall to football games and will wear it to hockey in the winter. I'm so glad I finally have one of these!

This is the third Triple C coat I have purchased in the past 6 years. I can't say enough good things about it. The first one I purchased still looks good. I would like to have them in all colors. I am only missing the grey and the white. I now have 2 black coats. They are exceptionally warm and they breath so that I don't get so hot that I feel like exploding. They wash and dry well and they DO NOT SHED feathers like some down coats tend to do. I would highly recommend this coat for anyone who is looking for affordability as well as comfort. You cannot go wrong with this coat.

First North Face Coat
February 15, 2011

I heard so much about The North Face brand that I decided to buy one this winter. I wanted a long, down filled coat and decided this was the way to go. Unfortunately, I was freezing in this coat. Although it has a high down fill count of 700, without material to block the wind, it does not serve me well in this frigid Chicago temperature. I was told by a rep that the Artic Parka may be a better buy for me as it has the Hyvent protection against the wind. I'm not giving up on the brand just trading one coat for another.
