The Best Light Weight Rain "Force Field" Jacket!

This jacket is great for athletes who loves to jog or great for anyone who wants a stylist light weight rain jacket. I live in a rainy city with bi-polar weather, so the weather is always changing from day to day. Great jacket for year round activities. I brought a small that's a little loose on me, but I'm able to wear a Windwall 1 Jacket or a sweater underneath to shield myself from the cold during winter. I got the TNF Black and really love the color. Also brought my older and younger brothers one too and they love it! I'm planning to get a few more for myself in different colors!!!

This jacket is great against rain and the quality is unmatched. My sister washed my jacket for me when I flew to see her in ATL and she put it in the dryer on HIGH. Needless to say, my jacket withstood the heat and the quality held up. One downside however, is that I tend to overheat in this jacket, which is why the armpit vents are great I guess. I highly recommend this jacket.

This is my second Venture jacket. I love them! I bought my first one back in 2009. It still works great, keeping wind and rain out, and keeping me toasty warm inside. After wearing it all the time for many years it finally started to get a little stained (I do volunteer tree planting and don't always get around to washing mud off my jacket as best as I probably should), so I ordered this Venture jacket to be my "nice" jacket and will use the other one as my "I don't mind if it gets dirty" jacket. This year's jacket has been updated compared to my other one. It fits a little more snugly and has a different coating, I believe. I wore it paired with some Venture pants in sideways Alaskan rain for hours and stayed perfectly dry! I literally cannot think of anything I don't like about this jacket. For the price you just can't go wrong! (Plus, they come in a million fun colors.) I highly, highly recommend this jacket! P.S. As the photos show, us Alaskans love our Venture jackets!

This jacket is AS advertised. Fits great, and is SUPER water-proof! The inside lining of the jacket isn't tacky feeling like alot of rain jackets, so it's VERY confortable! This jacket packs away nicely, very compact. Breathes great, pit zips or not.

I like my venture jacket. I got it in an x-large because I wanted it to be roomy and that is exactly what I got. If you are looking for a jacket with a lining this one does not have it but it is great to wear over a sweater or hoodie on those cool rainy days.

I have not actually worn this jacket out in the rain. I tried it on and absolutely loved how it fit. I got a medium so that I could put a fleece jacket under it once it gets cold. Unfortunately, I did not like the color. I ordered the "Strawberry Red" and expected it to be red but it was more like construction worker orange. I did not like it at all. I will be returning it and ordering another one! Once my new one comes in and I get a chance to wear it out in the rain I will write a review about its water protection!

I love this jacket. I purchased one approximately nine years ago and I finally wore it out. Got the same exact jacket again becuase I loved it so much. I love the velcro straps around the wrists and the vents along the sides. Great rain jacket.

This is one fantastic jacket! It's well designed and put together. The underarm vents are an excellent feature, great inside and exterior pockets. I like the attached hood, high quality zipper and the rain flaps at the neck. The color choices are great too. It's the best jacket of this type I've ever owned.

This jacket is great! I live in western Washington where it rains often and i'm always dry in this jacket. However, it may be hard to judge on what size you need. I'am about 5'2'' and 120 lb and i can fit an xs but the small is a little big yet comfortable because i like to wear a sweatshirt under when its cold out.

I wanted a rain coat. I wanted it to be casual, yet chic. And I wanted to be able to to wear it throughout the year. While the Venture Jacket is lighter than I thought it would be, it fits great, looks good and keeps me dry - and because it's light, I can layer to keep warm. I can easily wear a vest or fleece underneath to maintain warmth but it's light enough to wear in warm weather. I am very happy with my purchase and would recommend it to others. Since I've received my Venture Jacket, I've noticed many others who have the same jacket and like it as well.

The jacket is terrific. I like the fabric because it's not very noisy like other water-resistant fabrics. The color (berry lacquer) was vibrant and pretty true to what I saw on the screen. It's easy to transport and folds to be quite small. I borrowed a Venture jacket from a friend during a storm and it held up nicely so I decided to order one. I didn't test drive my own jacket because I have to return it. The sizes run a bit larger than I'd like. I'm 110lb, 5'3'' and I ordered a small. There's plenty of room for layers--too much room for me since I don't plan on bundling up for a hike in sub-zero temperatures. I'm exchanging for an XS. BTW, unlike other reviewers, I didn't have much of a problem with the velcro.

I really like my new coat, I like the fit because it is roomy and I can wear a sweater under. The only drawbacks are that the material is kind of loud when you walk and I also wish it was lined.

This is a great jacket. It is wind proof. I live in a very windy place, and it helps to block the powerful wind that comes int. It is light weight, so it is not bulky and hard to carry around. I am not sure I like the fit. It seems to be big in in the shoulders, but does not fit in the waist. Also, the pockets on the inside, are not closed all the way. They have a small opening, that things can easily slip through.

I have a Columbia rain jacket that's ok, but I love my new North Face jacket even more. The hood covers more and stays on, the fit allows for layers underneath, and the color is awesome!! This jacket is a little bit overpriced, but still a great one if you want to layer yourself up living in a rainy city. I wore it all day on a rainy day when the shower actually didn't wet me at all, not bad. I love the light yellow color I picked but since that color is a new arrival, there is no discount on that piece at all, which makes it pricy. I also love the zips of pockets, which keeps things inside secured and safe without dropping out. The sizes are good and fit too. And yes, I think I would recommend people to buy it.

I was looking for a rain jacket that is truly waterproof. This one works quite well. It is light, yet I can foresee wearing it in the cooler weather with a sweater underneath. The hood coverage is very good. The pockets have zippers, a must for me! The color is great - I got berry. I read the other reviews for sizing. I ordered a medium, I am 5' 7", 115 lbs. It's a bit roomy, but I have broad shoulders and long arms. I also wanted to be able to layer underneath. It also has the velcro on the sleeves and the hem cinch cord to adjust the fit. I would highly recommend this jacket.

This is a great rain jacket. Of course there is no lining, but if you have a fleece vest or wear a long sleeve shirt or thermal with it you should be good. What I like best about this jacket is, it doesn't "sweat" like most cheap versions I've had and it has the zippers under the arm to vent.

I bought this for a 200 mile bike ride along the Camino de Santiago. The weather at times was windy, rainy, chilly and ever changing in the mountains. The jacket protected me from all that and was very comfortable. I would definitely recommend it and buy another.

Light weight and durability appeal to mom. The color options, comfort and style appeal to everyone. Sizing is true to size if you take into consideration it is to be worn over clothes. 5' 4" and 5' 7" daughters both wear XS. Adjustable cuffs and hem cinchcord gives the jacket some shape. Breathable material makes it comfortable to wear all day. This is jacket #3 and planning on #4 soon. Still have jacket #1, just increasing color options in our house since we live in the Pacific NW.

I bought one of these jackets last year for myself. I am a school nurse in MS. The weather really does not get that cold so this jacket is perfect for running around campus over my scrubs. It is light weight and keeps the rain off. I LOVE the attached hoody so I dont have to take an umbrella around with me. My daughter just started Nursing School at Univeristy of Southern MS and was always using my rain jacket,so I purchased this one for her. She LOVES it!!!!!

This jacket is extremely majestic, and withstands any amount of rain. It is good for just about anything, and is actually pretty warm if layered. It is also windproof, which helps a lot. I wear mine pretty must everywhere. If you do not have a layer underneath, it can get a bit plasticy and clingy, but that is to be expected with most rain coats. I wear it hiking a lot because it is very lightweight and vresatile. I got the Octopus Blue, and it is fantastic. It fits true to size, and still has lots of room for layering without looking bulky at all. No real downsides... I highly recommend it!

I love this jacket! It's lightweight, yet so practical for any temperature. Paired with a this sweatshirt which is perfect in colder weather, or by itself over a tee shirt when it's raining a bit. It's very comfortable, not bulky like other jackets. It also comes in a variety of bright, fun colors. I got the turquoise color, and it's so vibrant!

I bought this jacket because I noticed it was a popular choice to get women through the wet New England fall. The jacket is incredibly water proof and provides a little wind protection. It wears nicely, however there is no real lining. Fortunately it runs a little big and I can later it over another light jacket.

The quality and color of this jacket were great. And hooray for the arms of the jacket which fit my long arms! I bought this jacket for doing chores (feeding horses, etc.) and for walking when it is raining. As such I wanted a jacket that was a little roomier/not quite so fitted and also one that was longer in the body for more protection. The jacket was much shorter than I had anticipated. I will be returning the jacket for those reasons, but not because of the quality of the jacket. NDNative

This coat has been wonderful! I go to a college that is very much like the town in the twillight movie it is always raining, I finally wised up and bough a rain jacket. I have been glad I did, not only is the waterproof shell excellent the beautiful green is so pretty it really stands out in a good way : ) It is so lightweight it feels like you're wearing nothing I would recommend this jacket to anyone!

Mine is black and very shiny and fit very good not to tight but not to big its perfect. i think im going to get another one but in diff color. I like this jacket because the hood can be adjusted, and the sleeves are long. The one thing I don't like is that the mesh lining in the inside gets stuck on the velcro sometimes when I am not wearing the jacket.

I got my first NF Venture jacket soon after I saw my teenage granddaughter wearing one. It was a nice bright color, and served a purpose as well as looking really cute. I now own two, the bright orange and the vibrant blue one. They are really cute, and can be used at work just over a tee, and gathered a little at the bottom. I wear a normal medium to a large in most jackets and tops, but this jacket I wear a small, not that I am, but the fit is lose enough, and the arms are plenty long. I get in plenty of rain while watching soccer, and this jacket is really perfect for keeping the rain off and the wind out when standing on the soccer fields. I just bought 4 jackets one for each of my granddaughters for Christmas. I kept looking for the sales on Altrec, and got some.

Perfect for what I wanted

I wanted a very lightweight jacket, with little to no lining, for the summer hot and humid months. I wanted to be able to roll it up and shove it in a backpack, which I am able to do. It is a little baggier than I expected compared to other Northface jackets (for fitting purposes), but that is ok with me. The sleeves are a little long but that is actually awesome for me and there is a Velcro option to make them tighter around the wrist for those that don't. There is a way to tighten the hood, which is good, but I haven't figured out exactly how to make it back to loose. The only thing I would have changed if I could have, would be for it to be an inch longer to cover my rumpus. I have only worn it once so far so I can not attest to the durability.

So pleased that I bought this! It is completely waterproof, trust me I used it in pouring rain during a 5 hour hike and managed to come out totally dry. And the arm vents are fantastic! Totally worth the investment!

Bought each of my girls a new North Face for school. Live in the Pacific NW where temperatures are moderate but it is quite soggy and damp most of the year. My girls don't like fluffy or heavy coats so these are just perfect to wear most of the months out of the year in Washington weather. Lightweight and water/wind resistant. Purchased the Daffodil yellow (very true to color) and Strawberry red (more like a bright orange-tangerine color). Will be back to purchase more colors in the future.

north face is famous for great color this jacket is very good color but little bit big for asian if asian choose this cloth need 1 step small its just for early autumn and last spring and inner pocket in not safety for storing

I love this jacket, it is warm, stylish, and durable! I would recommend this for anyone! I love the purple color and the wind resistance is awesome for the cold mid wast weather.

I bought this to replace using an umbrella to walk across my college campus in the rain, and I'm so glad I did. This this is VERY waterproof and windproof, but is very lightweight and breathable. I especially like how I can just roll it up and stick it in a pocket in my backpack so I always have it with me just in case it rains out of nowhere. Wherever this jacket covers, you're dry. I really like how large the hood is and how nicely the jacket fits as a whole; I can wear it as is or I can put on a fleece underneath it when its cold. This jacket is SO much better than fighting with an umbrella when its pouring down rain and you have to hike across campus. North Face never fails. I recommend it for anyone who needs a good rain shell.

I'm absolutely IN LOVE with my new jacket. It was a birthday present to myself and it meets all expectations! The color is vibrant and BEAUTIFUL (I got the dark purple) and I don't look like a grape (yay!). I haven't had a chance to test it in actual rain though it did excellent in the thick fog we get here in Humboldt County. And the wind protection is great on it too! It's light weight and surprisingly very cozy! The only downsides are the arms a little too long (I'm short though!) and it is a little loud... I joke with my classmates that they'll hear me coming down the hall before seeing me! But overall I love it. I want to get another one for jogging in the wet, wintery weather we're going to be getting soon!

I love The North Face and their products--they are all very durable, great quality, and long lasting. I really love the color of this jacket also. It's really lightweight and I love wearing it, it's very comfortable. I would not wear it in the winter time because it's not made to protect from cold, but it's useful for wearing in the rain.

This is a great raincoat if you just need something light for fall and spring. The material is very thin, so it won't keep you warm, but if you just need some rain protection, this is perfect. I'm very satisfied with my purchase and delivery was quick.

Rain Coat

I bought a Columbia rain coat last year and it only lasted me a few months because the zipper started to separate from the rest of the jacket. I had been debating about whether to replace the coat or not and finally decided to by this one from the North Face because it was a good deal and got lots of good reviews. I have only worn the coat a couple of times but it has already come in handy and I like that the hood has the extra front bill. The coat is great for rain/water protection and it is very breathable. The one thing is that this is not a year around coat as I live in Michigan and the winters are too chilly for this coat. I knew that when I bought the coat and I'm very pleased so far with the performance. The Premiere Purple is also a nice mix of pink and purple. I bought a size small and I am about 5'5" and 135lbs and it fits great with plenty of room to wear a sweater or sweatshirt underneath.

It fits great. True to size. I Love the colors, I had a hard time making a choice. It's light and it does not make that loud swishing noise when you wear it. Altrec had the best price. They carry great products. I would buy from Altrec again.

This jacket comes in a variety of beautiful colors! Not only does the jacket look good, its fits great and does it's job! keeps you very dry in the rain and blocks to wind while not being heavy!! Great buy i would strongly recommend it!

I have this jacket in 3 colors and my daughter has 2. It is wonderful for the rainy days in WA for doing errands or outside activity. Keeps the rain off you and your hair. Nice fit and love the colors. Altrec had great prices and service.
