Fit Tip: Owning this jacket, personally, it is amazing! I throw a long sleeve on under and I am good to go. It really does block most wind so I can be comfortable on my outdoor trips or just hanging out around the campfire. An extra small is perfect for my 5ft 4in, 115 lb. frame or a small if I want to wear a sweater or fleece under it. I experience no restrictions in movement as I am hiking or climbing. The fleece is quality and has held up for the year or so I have owned mine.

I currently own the same jacket and love it in a XS/TP size. I purchased a new one but the sizing is very different, I now need a Small! (I know I haven't grown that much!!) However, spoke to Altrec, return was extremely simple and efficient and new items sent by return mail. Would highly recommend this site.

I love my new windwall jacket but i could use a little more fleece. It does do what it says but in Virginia it is extremely windy and it would be helpfull if there was more fleece maybe in the pockets?

I bought this jacket for a spring trip to the sequoia's--it worked out prefectly. This jacket kept me warm, but not hot. Love the zippered pockets and soft lined collar

I first purchased a size Medium but it was more snug than I liked, so I exchanged it for a Large. The sleeves on the Large are too long but I kept the jacket anyway because I love how it feels and fits otherwise. Would definitely recommend to others.

This jacket is light weight and comfortable. The trim fit and length are super. I love the color and not having the grey/dark trim North Face sometimes uses on White items.

I always have a hard time with TNF sizing because most XS are a bit big for my petite 5ft 92lbs frame. I bought this in white from REI store, and aside from having to fold the arms twice over (which I don't mind), I'm very happy with the fit. There is room for layering a thin sweater under.

I had bought one for my husband and he loved it, so I bought myself one. Best jacket I have ever worn. Very light but extremely warm. I live in WI and Spring and Fall can be very cool, perfect jacket. Buyer beware that it is tight fitting in the arms, ideal over a shirt, but wouldn't fit if I had a baggy sweater or sweatshirt.

I bought this jacket for my daughter in moonlight ivory. The jacket runs true to size, is fitted - looks so cute! It really cuts the wind - it is a perfect jacket for Oklahoma winters, and the cool early spring winds.

I ordered this jacket for a gift and ordered the wrong size--I kept it for myself--I love it. We live in Arkansas where the weather is cold in a.m. and warm in the p.m. for the majority of the winter months. This jacket is perfect--I can even wear in indoors and in the car and I don't get too warm. It is the best jacket I have ever bought.

Dan - 2008-10-16Reasons I love my Northface Windwall.
1. Brutal devastator of wind. Very nice when your tent is from Target and does nothing to stop the wind.
2. Versatile in temperature. By itself, it can handle down to 55 degrees with a t-shirt and some shorts. 50 with a t-shirt and some pants. Add a long sleeve to your t-shirt and pants and you're down to 45. Add a thermal and you're down to 40. With a hoodie, 30 is doable. IMAGINE THE POSSIBILITIES!
3. Comfy. Great fit and good material make it nice to run, jump, climb or sleep in. Very useful when your sleeping bag is meant for temperatures 20 degrees higher than it actually is. Also nice to use for a pillow when it's not so cold.
4. Breathable. Take it on a cycling trip down the coast of California, and though you might sweat a bucket, you'll only feel like you sweat a small cup. Take it caving in damp lava tubes, and you'll barely feel the sweat and dew. Wind plus the breath-ability won't make you cold either.
5. Giant pockets. The pockets go up to your chest making it great for your camera, Cliff bar, wallet, phone, knife and keys, or 6 beers. Whatever you need really.
6. Durable (so far). It's only been a year since I've had this jacket, but it's worn all during the cold season and through many adventures (including most recently, crawling through caves that stab you and your jacket). Still feels as warm and good as new.
7. Rain resistant. Trinity-Shasta was pouring on our first night camping, and running back and forth from camp and the car still didn't stop the Windwall from drying up completely only an hour later

I love this jacket! I just got it today and it was exactly what I expected. I have always loved The North Face, so it's no surprise.
Potential buyers should be aware that this is a fall and spring jacket, definitly not a frigid winter day jacket.
Great quality. You can wear your favorite old jeans and a t-shirt and pull this jacket over top and you look great and pulled together.

I needed a light jacket for a trip to Italy in September. It rained and was chilly at the end and this jacket was great for those days as well as for cold airplanes. It is packable and doesn't wrinkle either. I will use it for a base layer under another jacket this winter.
I am 5'3" and the xp also fit well except for the sleeves which are slightly too long.

I am really pleased with the quality of this jacket. i love the brazil nut color I chose and it fits great. Took it on my Labor Day Backpacking trip and although I had not expected it to freeze, but I stayed warm.

I love this jacket. My older one blocks out the wind perfectly. I did order this one and am exchanging it for a different color. I ordered the Kelpie Green, and it's a little bright. Otherwise, great product.
SB - 2009-11-15Good transition jacket - but not as warm as I hoped
After reading the reviews, I purchased this jacket hoping it would take me from Chicago's fall days into the near winter months. I have had it now since June and I do not think that is going to be the case. For me, the jacket is the perfect layer for temps between 45-65' F depending on what you wear underneath. Anything below 45, this will not do - back to the wool coat. This jacket also does not block wind well.
Overall though, I'm happy I bought it. I'm 5'4", 115lbs and the XS fits great with extra room for a bit of layering underneath.
My only other disappointment with this jacket was the length - hits just at my hips - do wish it was a bit longer.

This jacket was lighter than I expected it to be. Definitely only a spring or early fall jacket. I bought the Alba Green - nice color, not too bright. I'm 5'1 and fit the medium.

This jacket feels soft and warm like a fleece yet keeps the wind out really well. It does not feel as rigid or noisy as other soft shell jackets.

I love the shape of this jacket along with it's windstopping action. It has a sleek fit, which my husband thought looked great on me. It makes for a great second layer when its very cold and windy. It isn't as soft and flexible as a regular fleece jacket, but it does what it says it does, stops wind.

Anonymous - 2009-07-16Nice jacket, wrong color (aka DON'T BUY BLUE)!
I actually only kept my jacket for about 15 minutes because Altrec sent me the wrong color (even after I had called them confirming that they would ship me the bliss blue with the grey collar, as shown in the picture, not the newer style). So needless to say, I was a bit disappointed when I received the wrong one. Apparently "we must have sold out" (between the 5 minutes it took to call and confirm, and click "add to basket"). So don't trust the pictures. I did try the jacket on though, and it was nice (why I rated it a 3, instead of 1 for incorrect product).
My advice: Get the jacket, but double-check that you're receiving the right color (esp. if it's a gift). Or check out other sites; there's plenty of places that offer quality service as well as good prices.
