Hi-Tech with a Retro Look
March 10, 2012
Seems to inflate faster than previous models due to, I'm assuming, a new foam core design & technology. I appreciate the two inch thickness for more comfort while package & weight specs are the same as the ProLite 4. Greater R-Value makes it warmer & insulates better when sleeping on the ground. With the exception of the cost, I can't find another con with this new Therm-a-Rest plus it seems to be as durable as all the other pads in the "Fast & Light" series, especially the new NeoAir XLite which, according to reviews, seems to be more puncture prone. This is the main reason I chose the new Therm-a-Rest 40th Anniversary Edition. Bite the bullet & sleep more comfortably. Makes all the other backpacking self-inflaters almost obsolete!
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use
Cons: Cost
