Lumpy
October 09, 2011
Good size pillow -- compresses nicely and fits well in the sleeping bag sleeve -- but the filling is very lumpy, even after repeated thumping and days left outside the stuff sack. Returned.
Pros: size, Cons: uncomfortabledon't like filling
September 22, 2009
The size of this pillow is great - the largest of the small pillows I've found. The filling leaves much to be desired. The filling feels like styrofoam popcorns used for packing. not comfortable b/c they don't [cre-ate]a uniform cushion.
Great product

Very convenient compact size for travel, machine washable, very soft.
great camping pillow
January 01, 2013
This is the perfect most comfortable pillow for camping, car trips, and where ever you find yourself needing a pillow. Good design, fluffed up just as the manufacturer said it would after the first washing. My husband will use it when he gets deployed for wildland fires. He needs a good supportive comfortable pillow to sleep on after fighting fires during the day. Another great product by thermarest . Good price for a light weight camping pillow.
almost as good as home!

This pillow is great, way better than I thought it whould be. As you get older these are the things that realy make a difference.
As comfortable as my pillow at home
December 21, 2009
This is one of the best purchases I have made since getting into backpacking. This is the only "luxury" item I bring along, and at 7 ounces for a small it is worth every gram! This pillow deserves 6 stars out of 5. The small is more than big enough for me, and provides enough room to move around. The loft should be high enough for most side sleepers, but if it is not you could fold it over. Since receiving this pillow, I have slept on it every night at home, as well as nights outside. It is every bit as comfortable as my normal pillow that I use at home, and actually lofts up higher than my "home pillow"! It was (as you would expect) very flat when I first uncompressed it, but after kneading it a bit and letting it sit out for 30 minutes it fluffed right up. I couldn't be more pleased with this pillow. At 7oz it is pretty heavy considering the other options available (stuff sack with jacket inside, inflatable pillow), but the extra comfort is well worth the weight. This is my first time reviewing a product here. I was just so impressed by how comfortable this pillow is that I wanted to come and say so. You won't be disappointed if you buy this pillow.
perfect

great sized pillow for all sorts of events. Camping, car rides, couch potato times, elevating broken arm (yes, speaking from experience). Folds nicely, lightweight and packable all make this a great product.
Pros: light weight, Cons: hard to re-compressAlready own the Thermarest Compressible Pillow? Tell us your thoughts.
most comfy travel pillow

Love this pillow--rolls up real compact to about 1/4 of the size, and billows out into a comfy, full-sized, firm pillow. Essential for travel and better than inflatable pillows!
Nice pillow
June 25, 2009
This is a pretty nice pillow, much nicer than a stuffed drybag. I have the small and it fits into my Big Agnes sleeping bag pillow compartment deal nicely. Packs a little bigger than air pillows but also feels nicer under the head at night.
I should have bought 3
August 11, 2009
For some reason, I use lots of pillows when I sleep - usually three. Sleeping in a bag has taken some getting used to, but it isn't bad now. I will probably order a couple more of these to satisfy my personal requirements. I recommend them. My only preference would be to make them more compressable so they'd take up less room in my pack - room I want for food!
Thermarest Pillow
January 22, 2013
There are only a few things that I won't leave home without, when kayaking, backpacking or rafting and this pillow is one of them. It's lightweight and compacts fairly small. We got the small size for our kids for backpacking so they can have a real pillow and they ARE like a real pillow. It's surprising how much they fluff up and how little they squish up when you're laying on them. My husband and I use the medium size as large takes up a little too much room in our backpacks. I've used the camp pillows filled with sleeping bag insulation and you might as well be laying your head on the ground. If you've had a Thermarest mattress for years and it still inflates... you can expect the same from this pillow. As an added bonus, you can toss it around like a football when it's compacted into itself.
Pros: lightweight, compact, holds shape in use, easy to clean, Cons: a bit pricey but worth itAwesome pillow!

OK, I have been searching for a while for light, compact, but firm pillow for backpacking and finally found what I was looking for! This Thermarest rocks! It compresses fairly tightly and is quite light and once you open it and fluff it up a bit, it actually stays that way all night! It doesn't smash down like alot of other pillows. I got the medium size and it fit into the hooded part of my sleeping bag. Another cool thing about it is that it doesn't slip all over the place due to the way the material is constructed. Overall, this was a great value and has tremendously improved the quality of my sleep on the trail! You owe yourself this one!
Perfect Travel Pillow
February 10, 2011
This is the perfect pillow for traveling. It fluffs up more than I expected it would and it compresses down to one fifth it's size for space-saving storage. I chose the small version, which will be a wonderful size for a nap on a plane or an extra pillow for camping.

Great Compressible pillow
September 18, 2009
If you like a full sized pillow when sleeping under the stars, this pillow is it. Just give it time to un-compress.
Compact comfort.
October 29, 2007
This pillow is great to throw in the car when going on trips or camping. It's compact and doesn't consume much room. I throw it in the wash when needed and keep it in the car.
My #1 lux item
September 07, 2012
Put it this way - I'd sleep on this on my normal bed at home. SUPER comfortable. Packs down reasonably small (about the size of my Atom sleeping bag) and it's thick enough for me to sleep on my side and my head not droop way over. It's filled with foam chunks that compress nicely and then fluff up. I consider it a luxury camping item because it's so comfortable. Buy one, and you'll end up wanting another.
Pros: comfortable, packable, lightweight, cool (temperature)Did you recently buy the Thermarest Compressible Pillow? Write a review.
Best thing since sliced bread!
February 28, 2010
I was the star of the ball. Everyone wanted to feel the pillow and then wanted to know where I got it. Lots of interest in purchasing one. I just got it for my last trip. Now am using it for my "home" pillow, will buy another very soon!
favorite pillow
June 05, 2011
This pillow is great for travel/camping but I also use it at home. It is a perfect little pillow to use on top of the big one, or in between two. Great for cuddling, too.
Pros: washable, comfy, soft materialAmazing pillow
January 27, 2011
i was shocked when if this thing how small it was - I didn't expect it to completely fill out the way it did. Once it's expanded, it doesn't just flatten out on you with use. Very comfortable; use it for traveling in planes and cars in addition to backpacking. I gut it jsut to get some kind of pillow, but didn't expect it to be as great as it is. High marks to Thermarest!
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use, Great valuepractical, convenient, and dreamy

great travel pillow for bus/train/plane/car...anywhere and any way you travel! compact, light, easy to stash in a pack/carry-on.

Functional and Comfy Pillow
February 01, 2011
I love the soft fabric on the outside of the pillow. Also I like that the pillow compresses down to a smaller size, making it easier to pack. I bought the medium size and it's perfect for camping.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use, Great valueThermarest pillow
December 06, 2010
This compressible pillow was a surprise gift from my husband. I had been stuffing clothes in a stuff sack and using it as a pillow for years, so this was quite the upgrade. The pillow compresses down using a draw string and is easily packed in a backpack or thrown in the back of the car for a road trip. After the foam expands it gives just the right amount of head support for my sleeping needs. It comes in fun patterns and is very soft to sleep on. I think it's a good buy.
Pros: Ease of useGreat little travel/backpacking pillow
February 01, 2012
This pillow packs up fairly small, and to me it is the perfect travel companion. I use this backpacking and when I fly. You can roll it up pretty tight and it's not too bulky. It also fluffs up well, and has just the right amount of fill to make it a comfortable sleeping in the tent or leaning against a window on a plane.
Very Comfortable!
December 16, 2010
I was impressed how small it was and how firm and large it grew over time. The material is very comfortable and great for traveling!--I bought one for my husband, highly recommend!
Great little travel pillow

Does every thing you would expect for a travel pillow. Light weight, compact, quick drying and comfortable. Would recomend to a friend
Great little pillow
December 29, 2009
It was a little flat and lumpy, but if you are one of those people who can't sleep without a pillow, this one will give you about an inch and a half of loft.
Nice comfy pillow
April 11, 2011
I bought one of these in large to keep with my camping gear so that I that I don't forget to pack one. I mostly car camp. So the large is nice and comfy. I compresses fairly small, then fluffs up nice soft.

Great couch pillow
May 01, 2011
I received this pillow for Christmas and used it many days on the sofa due to my broken leg. It has great support and feel, much better than any feather pillow. It has much greater support compared to my friends' compression pillows. When I recover from my broken leg and go hiking he will be jealous of my pillow.
Pros: great support, great feelAlready own the Thermarest Compressible Pillow? Tell us your thoughts.
Amazing comfort
March 16, 2011
Comfortable. Comfortable. Comfortable. Wash the pillow before you use it the first time and put it through the dryer to ensure that the loft will be maximal right from the start. Packs down to a small, relatively light bundle that is worth carrying in your pack for the comfort. I won't be camping without a pillow anymore.
Pros: Great design, PerformanceGreat trail pillow!
December 05, 2010
I used this pillow for a 5 day backpacking trip. It was compact, light, and very comfortable to sleep on. Provided good head support. If you are concerned about weight but need a pillow for a good rest - this is the best I've found.
Great for travel
November 12, 2011
I use this pillow for traveling and plan to use it for camping too. Compresses nicely into my carry-on and is super light. It is a little lumpy, but that's the nature of the beast I guess; if it was solid, it would weigh more and not compress as nice. I would totally recommend this to a friend; I bought my wife one too!
Pretty Good
June 11, 2009
The pillow does everything it says it does. It feels like a normal pillow, and compresses to a managable size. It provides a nice compromise between a big comfortable pillow and your jacket all balled up. It's not "ultralight" but not a pillow from home.
A must for side sleepers!
December 16, 2009
Make sure to wash it according to the instructions before first use. Dry with LOW LOW heat (Took my dryer about 3 hours). Packs down about 25-33% of its full size when compressed.
The best pillow
February 04, 2010
I had been using the slumberjack camping pillow, and compared to this, it's a piece of garbage. This pillow actually supports my head and lets me sleep MUCH easier.
Love it!
November 30, 2009
I ordered my pillow just in time for a trip to Ramsey's Draft Wilderness in the GW National Forest in Virginia the weekend after Thanksgiving. The pillow was great and made the 25 degree F temperature the first night more tolerable. In the past, I would sleep with my pack under my head, but the Thermarest pillow is a much more comfortable alternative. It is lightweight and compresses down to about the size of a foot long Subway sandwich. I have read some reviews that complain of the pillow not "uncompressing" well. I did find this to be a problem. Just remember to fluff the pillow according to the included directions. I highly recommend this pillow to add comfort to your back country experience.

I have never been able to sleep very well camping and this pillow has made all the difference. It is comfortable, compresses well and uncompresses well especially if you wash and dry it once before use. Get this pillow
