Description

Relax on Therm-a-Rest's Luxury Map Sleeping Pad and make your base camp or car camping trip supremely comfortable. Utilizing digital pressure mapping technology to analyze a range of body types in varying sleep positions, the Luxury Map Pad identifies common areas of high and low pressure and creates a more even and comfortable sleep surface by varying the density of die-cut perforations (more to soften high pressure areas and fewer in low-pressure areas to maintain support). The wavy contoured surface reduces pressure points for a great night's sleep, while its added thickness and ultra-soft stretch-knit fabric increases warmth. This new Therm-a-Rest pad takes the most comfortable, self-inflating mattress to a higher level of luxury.

The Thermarest Luxury Map pad is definitely a great buy. It is a little bulky for some trips but guaranteed to satisfy. Sleep like a king!

Comfy Camping
December 05, 2010

I bought two of these for my husband and I as we've been camping a lot with our kids on scout trips. These are TERRIFIC for camping, even in cold weather. They inflate easily, they give you a good thermal barrier against the cold ground, and they're very comfortable with good support. The only complaint I would have is that they are a bit narrow, (we bought the regular size), if you move around a lot when you sleep. The length is great, I'm 5'10", but I probably would get the next size up for the width. These "Luxury Map" pads were the envy of the other scout parents who got a look at these because of their thickness and the nice fabric-like material. I would definitely recommend this for a good nights sleep. I only gave four stars for durability because we've only had them for a short time.

Comfy theramarest
September 09, 2011

Needed a new theramarest for Hood to Coast relay and Cascade Lakes relay. Decided to go with the plush bigger model. No regrets. Perfect for laying on ground for rest periods between legs during the day and night. Ordered the XL size so have enough room to move and stretch. Very happy with upgrade.

Good at what it is, a thick mat
February 28, 2012

I'm 54 years old. I'm not in the best of shape and I hurt. What this mat does is make it reasonably comfortable for me to sleep on frozen ground in the winter in NE Minnesota. It's also as warm as I've found in a mat for winter camping. As for it's portability, the specs speak for that. I know that I'll be using this vs. my thinner/lighter mats even when motorcycle camping next summer. I've reached an age where comfort trumps a little more weight and size when packing. As a note, I used this at 15 below Fahrenheit recently and didn't find the cold conducted up from below much. Also, it fits into the sleeves of our double wide sleeping bag. Overall, if the specs fit your needs, I can't imagine being disappointed in this mat. Again, just don't expect it to be a lightweight.

Bulky but Comfy
January 05, 2011

This pad is rather large and feels heavier than most, but I've brought this on four multi-night trips so far and haven't felt the ground yet. It is the best insulating pad I've ever used, it kept me alot warmer than I'd expected. I'm 5'10" and wide in the shoulders and the pad fit perfectly, length and width. I did find it is a little on the firm side, but discovered by not inflating it fully it provided the give my back needs after a hard climb. Sets up and packs in 1-2 miniuts, which is very important in weather and when totaly wiped. I strongly recommend for those who appreciat an restful night's sleep.

Pros: Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Cons: wieght

excellent sleep experience
June 29, 2010

At age 60, and with a couple of shoulder surgeries behind me, I was ready for a more cushy sleeping pad when I'm not backpacking with my ProLite. The Luxury Map does the job: comfortable, easy to use, and sturdy.

Great-Thermarest BaseCamp XL Sleeping Pad
April 03, 2011

Have had numerous pads and cots over 60 yrs of camping. None have ever come close to this one. Set up is a breeze. Open the valve, take off for awhile, close it and you're ready to go. Comfort of course is relative, but in my rating, sleeping on this one is close to a 10. Ease of use is about the same. Too heavy of course for anything but base, size shouldn't be a criteria. XL is great for average size users. For anyone who wants quality and comfort in a base pad, this is a no brainer. Price relative to competition is excellent.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Great value, size

Next Best Thing to Sleeping on a Mattress
May 30, 2011

I hadn't been camping for 10 years until recently and sleeping on this pad didn't make me long for my bed back home. The pad is thick enough so I didn't feel the hard West Virginia ground beneath me. It doesn't take much to blow up a pad but I like that this one is self inflating. The pad seems very durable, it would take a very sharp stick or rock to puncture it. I am 6' and the large pad was long enough so that my feet did not touch the ground and had an inch to spare. I highly recommend it.

Pros: Great design, Performance, Ease of use
