Got this mat to use in Afghanistan to lay on the rocky soil and to help keep warm on cold desert nights and, for when I travel through Central America. So far so good.

This is a very decent alternative to inflatables. It will not puncture. It helps retain heat while minimizing conduction losses. It rolls up into a reasonably small package that you can sit on if you wish to avoid a wet backside, etc. You can also fold it in half and get double the support for half your body. Try that with an inflatable. So if keep it simple is in your lexicon, try this thing out.
