For off-road running that goes beyond the soft surface paths at the city park, the rugged Vasque Women's Velocity Trail Running Shoe gives you the protection and support necessary to hop up and over boulders, jump across streams, and grind up narrow ridge routes. For intense workouts such as these, support and stability is needed from all of the shoe's components. The 1.2mm synthetic nubuck and breathable airmesh upper with welded thermoplastic urethane (TPU) reinforcing offers support without causing the foot to overheat. Underneath the foot a TPU plate provides protection from gnarly roots, jagged rocks, and torsion control over uneven terrain in general. This plate sits immediately above the Vasque Mako® outsole and gives you confidence when running on rock slabs, descending switchbacks, or making your way up a pebble-strewn logging road. And above the TPU plate a dual density molded EVA midsole offers cushioning and motion control that becomes increasingly important as the mileage piles up. The Vasque Velocity Trail Running Shoe for women includes a Beneke-Ceroprene rand to provide even more protection from the wilderness floor, and a gusseted tongue to help shed debris.

These shoes far exceeded my expectations. They have great support, run true to size and are very high quality. The sole looks extremely durable and has great traction that will work under muddy conditions. The dusty blue is a muted tone that will not make larger feet look bigger, will not clash with other gear and the styling is attractive. I agree with others that this shoe will not need to be broken in prior to wear, very comfortable from the start.

The Velocity is SO Comfortable while also offering great support, and they are nice looking too! Compared with the AMP, they are just a bit longer in length, but I still order my true size.

I ordered the Vasque Velocity after trying on the similar Vasque Velocity VST. This shoe has a smaller toe box and the 8.5 was too small, so I had to return them. Also, the arch support is much better in the VST. I think Vasque has a great product, I just think that the VST is the better shoe for me.

I just purchased my second pair. I run trails 4 to 5 days per week, 4-6 miles each time. I cross all types of terrain...gravel, dirt roads, sand by the river, dirt packed trails and have to manuever over roots and climb over rocks. These shoes have never let me down and have probably prevented broken toes on more than one occasion. The grip is excellent and allows me to cross large, sometimes wet rocks without slipping. Very comfortable...zero break in period. Both times my new shoes arrived I put them on and went running.

I have never worn Vasque prior to the Velocity shoe and I am completely impressed with the product. After many years running and hiking in Asics and Keen I am a convert. Very comfortable, true to size, no blisters, roomy toe box doesn't squish the toes on steep downhills.

I bought these for my wife. She really likes them! I have two pairs myself. One standard and one Gore-Tex. They are light, comfortable, and fit well. There is room to add special insoles if needed also. Ordering shoes online can be tough since you can't try them on. No problem with Altrec - you can buy with confidence - they have awesome customer service and returns are easy.

The regular, tug and tie laces are a joy. I had fractured my foot, so comfort is important, and these shoes are so comfortable AND rugged. I'm very happy with them.

I just bought my third pair of these shoes - I love them!! I have narrow heels so most running shoes rub a hole in the back of my heel, these fit like a glove. They last forever no matter what you throw at them. I do have to buy a half size larger than all my other shoes.

I have high arches and have a hard time finding running shoes that don't make my feet go numb with lacing. These fit like a glove, are light enough to run on a treadmill but tough enough for rocky trails. Buying my second pair!

I LOVE my Vasque velocity hiking shoes!! I had my first pair for two years and wore the heel out- I was so disappointed when I returned to the store where I had purchased them and they no longer carried them. I was thrilled to find them at altrec.com and at a great price!!! Thank you!!! these are the most comfortable and durable shoes for trail hiking!!! Thinking of getting an extra pair!!
Juanita - 2007-10-12Everything I wanted
I bought the Woman's Vasque Velocity because I am an avid trail runner with weak ankles and wanted a running shoe that would give my ankles a little extra support. I have a medium width foot with medium arches. I tested these shoes 2 days out of the box, in low 80 tempertaures, running with my dogs across wide open, grassy fields, along single tracks strewn with tree roots and rocks, down a steep embankment to the creek to water the dogs, then back up the opposite embankment to return to the single track. These shoes gave me the cushioned ride that makes running a joy while at the same time providing me with strong ankle and arch support. No fancy laces--just tug and tie--my favorite. I normally wear a 7 and 1/2 in a hiking or running shoe and the Velocity 7 and 1/2 fit me great with just a bit of wiggle room for my toes. After an hour and a half of running and hiking in these shoes, I returned home with no hint of a blister on either foot. I highly recommend these shoes and hope that Vasque does not "upgrade" them for a long time because they are perfect for me just the way they are.

Before buying the Vasque Velocity I thought they would be tough enough to use as a pair of trail shoes in addition to using them for running. I was NOT disappointed. We recently returned from a 5 day backpacking trip in a Southwest canyon, and after running them through the washer they look nearly new. For the better part of five days we hiked on rugged off-trail terrain, often wading in a river and the Velocity held-up great. I never got even a hint of a blister despite wet feet. The underfoot protection from stones was excellent.

I had to get a good supportive shoe for walking. A comfortable one, lightweight and flexible for my martial arts, and the Velocity fit both needs. And they look great, and, oh yes, because I broke my leg a few months ago all of these needs were extra important. And, as usual, Altrec service is fantastic.

Anonymous - 2009-04-15Pinched my toes and not enough support
I have high arches and bought these shoes over the net 1 size larger than normal. I put birkenstock inserts in after the first run and they still pinched my toes. Also definitely did not keep my feet dry on the trails as I had hoped. The $13 socks that I bought with the shoes are the worst (and most expensive) sock buy I've ever made. They too pinched my feet.
